I’m such an over thinker who constantly needs distraction so I think this would drive me to the brink of insanity. Like those people who stay in soundproof rooms for too long. But I weirdly still wanna try it…

the whole point of float tanks is to deprive yourself of all senses. Its incredible for your blood circulation too and no, it doesn't dehydrate you. You must turn off the lights to avoid feelings of claustrophobia as you will loose all sense of space really quickly. Its an amazing feeling as all pressure and tension leaves your body.

Why do they give you earplugs? And do they encourage you to be in full darkness? I’m a bit claustrophobic but love water. Floating with it open maybe. Closed I would feel like I’m in an MRI machine.
@DovahkiinVolkihar
@DovahkiinVolkihar Жыл бұрын
Earbuds are encouraged due to the amount of salt in the water it can damage your ears or leave salt crystals in your ears after a while making you dizzy for days after. I am also claustrophobic but I was perfectly fine in this with the roof closed (it is optional just like the music and lights) it is extremely large inside larger than it looks. There are buttons on the side inside that control sound and lighting. It’s extremely relaxing and a nice temperature not to hot like a hot tub. One thing is if you do go and have cuts or raw skin put on water resistant jelly otherwise it will burn like hell.

Isn't this the thing that causes people to hallucinate if you have the lights off
@DovahkiinVolkihar
@DovahkiinVolkihar Жыл бұрын
I’ve actually done this before and no that only happens if you are in there for over 3 hours in pitch black silence. The floats are actually very relaxing and good for you. It’s best to just sleep through it or get a two person one to go with a friend or loved one to chat. The salt does not allow you to sink at all no matter the weight and the salt also takes out and destroys any toxins in your body. Always remember to put in your ear plugs as the salt can be bad for your inner ears and if you have any cuts or raw skin PUT ON SOME FORM OF WATER RESISTANT JELLY it can and will burn like hell. Overall it’s a great thing to do and is very healthy and enjoyable. Same can be said for Hyperbaric treatments which are often found in the same buildings as these float tanks. What you are possibly thinking of with these making people hallucinate is years ago some government groups would trap people inside of these to gather intel from an enemy group. They would trap them in pitch black silence for hours till they started hallucinating and talking out loud giving answers to the mic in the room. Many people still mistake these float pods for causing the same thing that happened years ago in historic war times. Since then this has been a banned way of gathering intel and these tanks are used for relaxation and rejuvenation only.
@DovahkiinVolkihar
@DovahkiinVolkihar Жыл бұрын
Another thing is for anyone that watched Stranger things this is what El does. As mentioned in the series it does cause hallucinations but this is a very fictitious series as that would only happen to someone after hours of alone time in silence and pitch black inside that tank.

I'd love to try it just to see but, despite the fact that I, too, am a huge water baby, I don't think I'd probably like it. For one thing, I often can't go more than 15 minutes or so without needing to blow my nose, and that seems inconvenient, to say the least. At least at a pool I can keep my tissues and a waste container on the side, waiting for me....

You ruined your experience simply by bringing a phone. Also if you try it again either ask the attendant for a bottle of vinegar or bring one yourself to rinse your ears out. I have incredibly frustrating ears (over productive wax production). Getting in a a float tank is by far and away the simplest solution to all of my ear problems. When you get out, shower off, then grab your vinegar, flush the ears with vinegar, this removes all of the salt, then grab a q-tip, clean out any wax, and then wash your hair, when your fingers are all sudsy from shampoo clean your ears, and rinse! I have gone over 100 times. I can tell you that your first experience is going to be the most uncomfortable by far and away. Your mind and body are not ready for the type of seclusion your getting yourself into. Now when I go, the moment my head touches the water I turn off the lights and music, and begin focusing on my breathing. Meditation in a float tank is basically the only way to enjoy it, if your in their just daydreaming, it's probably not going to be that great of an experience, but I can tell you, that if you manage to fall into a meditative state you will feel like a different person getting out. Do a three float setup, try to do them one day apart. Do not have your phone on. Learn the basics of meditation (focus on your breathing) and I promise that each and EVERY float, is an entirely different experience. I've fallen asleep twice in the tank, I've hallucinated in the tank, I have had insane moments of clarity in the tank. If you are not able to hear the blood coursing through your veins before you climb out, you haven't reached the depths of relaxation that the tank can offer.
