FLOATING Tiny House Remodel Progress 🛠🌊

We live at 7,200’ in Colorado so we’re certainly familiar with winter. We typically receive several feet of snow with temperatures that can dip below 0 degrees. Watching Brandon grumble about winter reminded me of myself several years ago when I moved here from sunny, and much warmer California. It seemed the more I railed against the ravages of winter, the colder they became. I’ve learned through the years that by accepting and embracing our winters, I’ve gained an appreciation for the gifts they offer. Watching a roaring fire while sipping on a cup of hot chocolate. Cooking pots of delicious chili or soup to share with friends and neighbors. Watching my Yellow Lab happily roll in the freshly fallen snow. Knowing that every Christmas will be a white one. Curling up for the evening with a warm blanket and good book. Appreciating the out-of-state skiers who give vital support to our economy. Seeing the migrating birds begin their journey north as a signal the long winter is almost over. Although our winters are long and summers relatively short, we give thanks for the critical moisture our winters give us, and the chance to sit back and reflect on the past year’s challenges and triumphs. All that being said, as winter hangs on into March, we can definitely feel “over it”!

Our docks in Tennessee didn’t fair well during the wet snow. It took down at least two covered docks one in Knoxville and one in Nashville that 12 people had to be rescued out of a houseboat. We were glad to have a rounded roof on our houseboat that shed the snow.

Oh my! That’s very scary. Hope everyone was ok!! That is definitely one benefit of floating cabins, just like a normal house on land the roof is designed to withstand the weight of snow, walls are insulated, etc. 🙏

It’s Smartcore Ultra, basically vinyl plank flooring! Honestly doesn’t look that much different than hardwood, but sooo low maintenance. We love it. Thanks!!!

Iko is so pretty. How are you able to keep her lookin so sweat?

She just comes by it naturally! 🤍 we brush her and bathe her periodically of course, but that’s about it! Akitas are also very big on self-grooming, she licks every square inch of her fur she can reach a couple times a day haha.

Hard to say! A lot of them are sold via word of mouth, sometimes they get listed on Fb marketplace or local FB groups. I don’t know of any for sale currently but maybe call around to marinas on the lake & see if they know of anyone in their harbor selling!
