Great advice to move your EV to a safe location away from the home. I am now handling an insurance claim for a total loss to a home in Tampa because an EV caught fire in the garage after hurricane Helene.

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. This is why it is so important to have a plan in place.

For the record, 48volts or greater is considered High Voltage. High voltage needs specialized training to deal with. Nothing the averahe person is fit to dwal with. EV battery fires can take weeks, to months to eventuaute. Once floided, those cars are time bombs

Great points, thank you for sharing.

First of all, there are no high spots in Florida. Why would anyone want to subject themselves and family to such inconveniences just for transportation? It seems so ridiculous to own an EV and have to put up with this.

Bag your EV or Hybrid in a plastic bag. I think it was China that sold them in response to floods and EV fires. Bag keeps the water out and the car dry. Definitely a business opportunity for someone.

They already exist, especially for older cars

Let's watch what happens to flooded EVs in Spain!
@bobdavis3357Ай бұрын
So basically, if I buy an EV in a flood zone like Florida or Louisiana, it's a total loss in a flood or storm.

If you asked someone if they wanted to haul around a few hundred pounds of lithium ten years ago, they would have called you nuts. But now people do every day. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏻🤷🏻♂️

Time to bring on better battery tech. Maybe they shouldn't have done away with the guy who built an engine that runs on water, huh?
@WhittyPicsАй бұрын
Water in any car is a problem to all the electronics, esp SALT water. Don't suck that water into the engine. You can hydrolock the engine and bend the connecting rods
@CarCoachReportsАй бұрын
Yes, that's very dangerous!

AND if you have a house w/ solar panels and a battery bank...YIKES! PLUS, a gas line into your house...YIKES. I keep 100lbs of propane and 50 gallons of gas...YIKES! IF you have some TRIGGERED NEIGHBORS ....ARM YOURSELF!....YIKES. Throw out my wifes toys too! lots of batteries.
