I really like the bed in a box idea. This year we bought a 111 yr old home in north central Minnesota. We had done a rough measurement of the stairwell thinking our queen bed would fit up the stairs. I wished we had filmed trying to get the mattress up the stairs....3 guys and myself pushing the mattress upstairs was a comical sight. And forget the box springs upstairs. We ended up buying a metal platform bed frame to put mattress on. Next mattress will be a mattress in a box. Lol. ~ Diana

You and all the other minimalist/decluttering channels gave me the courage to let go of 42 years worth of stuff when I moved into my new home this summer. And I ❤️❤️❤️ the clean clutter-free look. I love the new flooring, and can sympathize with Tom installing it. Several years ago I installed flooring myself in my kitchen. They gave me a video on how to do it. It said to work from left to right, but no matter what I did, it would not click together. Then my daughter came over, watched me trying to do it, and said, isn’t left to right going the other way? She was standing in a different doorway, than I had……!!!….. it’s all in the prospective. Once I changed, it snapped together with ease. That was 19 years ago, I put it over 1950’s linoleum. What an upgrade, I was always so proud to say I did it myself, even around the moulding in the doorways…. Perfect! Loved it.

I have loved watching your videos in 2021. Everything you and your family does, reflects inner peace. You laugh in the face of adversity (broken down trucks, damaged rv, remodeling stresses) which serves as an example of how to live. I could see the happiness in your children’s faces as they decorated the tree. I once spent 3 long days decorating one fresh 8 foot tree! Honestly, I liked yours more. Ordered the work book as I started decluttering 53 years of accumulated (no longer) treasures and I must keep going. I know that my family of four will gain peace through this change in lifestyle. Thank you.

Ordered myself a book this morning! “Minimal Momming” has become a verb in our house. I minimal mommed SO many Christmas decorations yesterday. :) My kids were thrilled with all the decorations I actually put up (not keeping what I’m not using made me less lazy about going all out). I’ll be on the lookout for twinkle lights when my SIL and I do our Dec 26th shopping - it’s a tradition, but with a much different mindset for me this year. This Thanskgiving my home was so easy to tidy and clean before our family arrived bc thanks to you all, I have really declugtered most of our home with just a few exceptions - barn is 1/2 done, basement, a bit in the attic, and our office!!! Incredible. One of thr biggest take aways is the whole idea of cluttering as you go. It's maintenance. Just start. And also I love that it doesn't have to look like Pinterest or The Container Store. Y'all are practical and authentic. I love the faith component too. Bless you all, including Diana!!!

At the end of the Christmas season I gave each child a box, and they put their own ornaments away in their own box. Next year, I handed them their box, and they could put their own on the tree without that sorting step. they enjoyed reminiscing about each ornament and who gave it to them. Years later when they moved out to their own homes, I gave each of them their box of ornaments to take with them. We then downsized to a table top tree to accommodate for our smaller amount of ornaments.

If it wasn't for your channel I don't know that I would have ever realized just how much I needed to lessen my inventory load. You have helped me in even more areas than just becoming more minimal. I’m so excited about your book!!! Got my order in and now I’m just counting the days… Thank you, Dawn, for helping me to change my perspective on items… it’s just stuff! It’s helpful especially with things that belonged to family members that have passed away… I can just imagine them saying “why aren’t you using that?” Or “why are you hanging on to that?” It’s been super helpful! Also, another huge one for me is the talk/decision about if I’m not using it then I should let it go so someone can actually use it and not have it just deteriorate in a bin stacked in the garage… give the item value and use! Much love and appreciation, Danese from Bethlehem, GA

Your floors look so nice. Hubby and I just put LVP into a guest house. Wear knee pads and pieces come together better when you work together to put them in on long side, then tap the short end (with a short cut off piece of flooring attached as a pusher). We rotate on who goes to the miter saw to make the length cuts. Hubby does the rip cuts and detail cuts. We have found 2 small crowbars extremely useful to maintain the edge spacing and in place of pull bars at times. Wow, sorry that got so lengthy, just relate to what is involved. Happy holidays to you all.

Now I only have put the tree sections together and connect the lights. Saves me so much time not having to string the lights every year. And I don’t have to find a way to store the lights so they don’t tangle.

The floor looks great! Just tonight, my husband and I installed LVP in the laundry room of our new house. It took about 4 rows before we got the hang of it. It wasn’t too bad, but we had the same experience with being able to move the entire floor. So one of us stood on it while the other tapped & clicked it together. We have 2 bathrooms left to do. And all this was after recovering from laying 2000 SF of 3/4” hardwood. Now that was a big project!

Having helped my husband put down click lock flooring and then this last time putting in glue down LVP, I will only put in glue down. So much easier. There was a learning curve on how long to wait for letting the glue dry enough before laying down, but so worth it. If you scratch a piece, you just heat the floor and pull up the piece and lay in a new one.

Watching this video brought back memories. I replaced the floor in part of my basement and I bought the good stuff and found the same situation. First they told me you could cut it with a utility knife but I was about 75 years old and ended up using a scroll saw. The room was about 12x25 with an offset on one end of about 5x7 and the other end had a hallways going off about 8ft long. The first thing I found was that I couldn’t carry more than one box at a time so had to get help. Then I could only get up and down so many times so about 2 hours was all I could do. Then as time went by, I got stiffer and so I got slower. Also during this time, I also had a part time job. 1 and a half years later and I was finally finished. But it looks great. I have another room I want to do but since I am almost 80, I feel certain that first I would do the non luxury floor plus, would probably need someone else to lay it. Maybe I could hire Tom. Lol
