Newbury Park's Nico Young ripped off a series of 66-second laps to leave the elite field in the dust and won the 2019 CIF Outdoor State Championships 3200m in 8:47. Young's time is the fastest winning time since Riverbank's German Fernandez set the meet record of 8:34.23 in 2008 and the sixth fastest winning time dating to 1965.

This is the type of 3200m I like to watch, working hard the entire time. Not like the boring strategic pro runs that are literally a 300m race where they jog the 1st 2900m and who ever has the best kick wins.
