Just this morning I was thinking about how much I’d like to see a video on this topic, since most of the powerlifting content out there largely ignores everything that complements strength training (e.g. cardio, mobility, mindfulness, etc.), and the videos that do address these topics usually don’t have powerlifters in mind. It seems my wish came true. Thanks dad!

Hey Brendan. Just found your channel a few weekends ago. Been really digging your philosophy and teaching style. Just wanted to stop in and say that while I’m natural, I really appreciate and respect the full disclosure here. (I think that is important to disclose when you’re giving advice to an audience) I look forward to seeing your future content!

Thank you Brendan. It would mean a lot if you could talk more about everything that's related to "tess" for those who consider it. What has made you to decide to go on "gear"? what were the side effects? how does it integrate with your flow system? what is important to consider before going on it, etc. Thank you

Cannot agree more with movement being a key facilitator to recovery. getting a dog was one of the best things that happened to my training, walking the fat boy every day for 20-30mins has had a MASSIVE impact on recovery. started combining it with deliberate grounding and sun exposure (walking him barefoot through the park) after seeing one of your earlier videos and the difference in how my body and mind feels is stark.
@BrendanTietz9 ай бұрын
I actually recommend getting a dog to people often! Best life gains ever both mental and physical! Love to hear that

Loving the more holistic training content. Excited for Unity to begin. As a power lifter rehabbing a back injury, I have become obsessed with how I can improve my longevity and prevent all types of injuries in the future! Keep up the content Brendan, no ones doing what your doing atm

The motion representation you made of how you feel about yoga is spot on. I've been doing yoga every day for more than a month now, which followed a fluke and motivation slope from weightlifting that made me feel out of energy. Agreed on the benefits from it
@BrendanTietz9 ай бұрын
Yeah man we’re a culture too materially and propositionally focussed. There aren’t words or even science to describe what yoga does (yet) and thus it’s something you experientially know rather than propositionally understand

Very insightful video, one I'm sure alotta people may not wanna hear but should definitely take heed, including me. Watching your videos for a long time I can definitely see when you started to incorporate these principles more and more in your training and it has helped overcome some of your own injuries. Even other elite lifters in some way do some flow training even if they don't call it that. Russ does football sprint drills, Rondel does iso holds and dedicated cardio. There's definitely merit in this and I hope people take to it eventually, even if they're not ready right now. You know powetlifters are stubborn. Lol my form of this is actually calisthenics. Nothing crazy intense to replace a workout, but to get blood flowing and my body in motion. I may incorporate more of the tips you named here. Thank you as always. I've been subscribed to your channel since 2020 I think and all your knowledge as well as others have gotten me stronger...physically and mentally. 🙏🏿

Hi, i know it may be very personal so forgive me for overstepping, but do you ever plan to make a video explaining why you made the decision to not be natural? Also, thanks for the years of free, extremely high quality advice. Keep up the excellent work 💪
@BrendanTietz9 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t mind making one! I probably will someday! It’s pretty straightforward though. Levels were plummeted after last meet water cut, but I think that was just the final straw. I think our lifestyles and environment are killing us tbh. And I don’t mean that exaggeratedly.
@probablyslept81429 ай бұрын

Incredibly good for the body! Do it! But do it appropriately with progressive and regressive allotments

Powerlifting is a short man's sport (most of the weight classes consist of short people lol). Taller and lanky guys can't get away with training high-specificity, high-frequency, and high-intensity all the time like short lifters. I realized that four years ago.

@BrendanTietz9 ай бұрын
Oh man it’s a long explanation and individual. Basically do end range work and get on a better program. You’re overworked CNS wise and movement repetitiveness is def too high.

GH was plummeted sometime after my last meet in 21’ and couldn’t fix it. Test was low too. I aged and felt like shit. Tried changing lifestyle hugely and GH just wouldn’t budge at all. Was literally at zero and doc said they had never seen that at my age. Have no clue how it got so bad but I think we need a culture change to shift towards better lifestyles and environment

Is it just me, or does 'Flow Training' seem reminiscent of GPP, coined by Louis Simmons, with some added elements like isometrics? Holistic GPP?🤔 Just a thought I had - #FlowTraining #GPP #LouisSimmons #Fitness #Training

@BrendanTietz9 ай бұрын
Yeah uspa and wrpf allow gear usage in specific categories. Wasn’t kidding at all! I actually think more people should be on trt and gy especially given our lifestyles causing decline. Even after moving around my entire life to live less stressed it seemed nothing would bounce my GH levels back. They were literally zero and I think it was from the last water cut I did mixed with our environment
