@@gtvwill most other speaker build channels only focus on building a somewhat interesting box and slapping some components in. You typically don't even get any measurements... Hexi is one of the very few channels where no points of criticism come to my mind.

He isn’t just an audiophile he is a sound engineer. I will say that his knowledge of sound even goes at the top end of sound engineers. He is the reason I got into looking into sound engineering and then ended up building my own 3d printer. I like how he tells us a story of his design process. What he aims for and his inspirations for doing a speaker enclosure and design. Not to mention his phenomenal camera and editing work. Overall a gem of a channel and I love rewatching videos so much knowledge pack into it.

Yeah, I am guilty of printing the dual 3" mini Sub (Hexibox v3 I think) and enjoying the heck out of it. AT the time I had some serious space constraints with my main PC and that little guy was perfect. It did take a bit of power and a PEQ to get it where I wanted but man, that was super impressive for the size.

Love these little founteks, built the satellites for my first 3d printed surround sound system using the fr89ex's with passive radiators sadly that model seems have been discontinued since. They live in my workshop and still play great 8-9 years later.

Im part of a few 3d printing groups and sound audio groups, i always recommend this channel as a starting point, because of you i think interest in printing audio has really taken off, youve really shown whats possible with a good design! Couple more years till printers are perfect and people will commit, i think atm all the people interested in 3d printing audio are scared to take the learning curve of a printer, as shpown by the failed prints at the start of the episode hahahaha frustration will turn most off I also rock your 3 inch subwoofer hahaha its so perfecty for ym PC system and have found a need for the dual reflex sub yet

I am a experienced veteran 3D print maker and even have a small on demand business for 8+ yrs. I guarantee you, someone with more experience, will not have these 3D print failures. For example, besides the frozen screen issue being printer related, how the material is sliced, supported and filament settings matter and would yield better results. I could print this box and get it right the first time. Im saying all this, just to make sure others without much experience understand that the technology and quality of printers is there, its a matter of taking the time to learn how to properly set the workflow. Its no different then machinists, you can have a great CNC machine, but if the user doesn't know how to setup parts, failures will happen. Same with printers.

That's not the point of his videos though. And if you say you can get ANY printer to print a piece that big without any issues at first try, you're just lying.

@@tomkocur Your missing the point. You mistake my advice to others about printing having a learning curve with me criticizing Hexi. Incorrect! He's not that experienced yet. Simple as that. His hot end was "smacking" the print, part was curling on him on overhangs, he had to edit file and add Z-jump after fact, layer delamination happened etc. Anyone can get better. He WILL get better. Folks who have had plenty of experience printing understand the workflow better. Before attempting something this big, you must make sure it is setup for success. When you have a print farm queue, or do it for customers on demand with a deadline, you cant afford to just have mistakes. He lost days and multiple spools of filament. That is a massive loss of time and money for everyone involved. Even anyone doing it for "funsies". Experience gets you to learn how to obtain a proper Z-offset for the machine and build surface being used, first layer temps/height/speeds for the filament being used, how to properly set supports, what kind of support separation is needed so you dont "chisel" them out, if you should use fans or not, how to compensate for warping, shrinkage etc. Experience gets you closer to higher success rate, and the confidence to determine if the task can indeed be achieved.

I personally liked your bookshelf speakers. Have printed & built Tang Band W3-2141 bookshelf speakers, TecTonic Microspeaker & single W3-1876S subwoofer. Mainly because everything else was to large for my printer, but personally I also enjoyed working with these smaller style speakers :) You can build and test around more for less money

That things cool, I just used a single tang band 5.5 subwoofer with an 8" passive radiator, 4 " Dayton reference full range and a titanium tweeters for a portable Bluetooth and the bass I got from one tang band is crazy I can only imagine what 2 is like in the double bass reflex, I have never heard of a Double bass reflex. I have to look into that, thanks 🙏 you are a smart and talented dude

Listening on a pair of Bose 4001s with 2001s stacked on top of them. Along with a Klipsch 12 inch sub and Klipsch center channel. After a few months of screwing around building dml panel speakers I find myself desperately wanting to build something more complex especially after I found your channel. Not sure if you’ve done some VERY basic builds but I’d LOVE to see some extremely beginner stuff. Great content! I have 4 6.5 inch Klipsch woofers laying around and now I’m definitely gonna save up for a 3d printer and build an enclosure for them I think. Once I learn more that is lol

I had a similar issue with PETG stringing. Default temps for Prusament are like 250C. I print ABS and ASA at 235C perfectly. I dialed the PETG back to 225C and it's spot on. Not sure why the manufacturers want so much heat unless it's assuming that everyone's using a standard V6 hotend that can only do like 9mm^3 of flowrate. It's super frustrating!

Still listening on my Sennheiser Headphones from 2015. They thunder with your recordings and get very high. I have yet to find anything to replace them with. Considering my sony sub amp too ka dive, i have no bass in the office. That second track has such a nice low end rumble and it just... makes my ears want more of it. Then came track 4... Holy friggin moly. I wish you make these so i could order one. They would compliment my Fluance bookshelfs on my desk. The punchy sound with a full roll off into a deep note is insane. Youre level of design, ability and tuning is superior to others ive met online. You and Sophie always entertain and she loves her precision painting and application of the jb weld. KEep them coming!

oh man you brought back some memories LMAO!! I used to see people with those gaudy things all the time!! But it was never enough bass for the look that they gave them.... like they looked like they would really pump out some nice window shaking, but it was pretty much dookie every time I heard one.... and I used to test them out in places like Best Buy and yea the high end ones were decent, but they were NOTHING like what I had put together myself... But when when you have 2 12" subs gettin 500 watts each you're kinda spoiled and everything else falls flat... but now-a-days I'm taking it easy with the out of control bass, going for quality over quantity, and preferring my 7.2 surround and my Onkyo receiver because I mainly use it for movies and games and not too much music, unless I'm in the car... and it's pretty much ALWAYS some neurofunk drum n bass, but the stock sound system will haver to do... today's "entertainment center" dashboards that incorporate EVERYTHING onto one screen just RUIN the driving experience because you have to look away to adjust anything on the screen... and that's really dangerous IMO.... and how am I supposed to replace my head unit?? just not have heat or a/c?? there's nowhere to add a second one, so I'm stuck with that.. which isn't too bad as far as my media... but if I want to add some subs I would HAVE TO use the high level inputs on the amp, pulled from the rear door speakers- NO THANKS!!! it's just too much of a hassle... I guess that's life as you get older: Too Much of a Hassle! LOL GREAT BUILD as ALWAYS guys!!! That printer was nice, aside from the hiccups... I would have liked to see more builds at that high speed IF that is one of FLSUN's selling points.... but I was seriously impressed with that benchy... WOW! Fastest I've ever seen. I just hope their typical customer service is as good as what you got, but I doubt it... THANKS FOR THE VID!! :D

My son has been able to end some adhesion problems with children's art glue sticks. (Not hot-melt; the stuff that resembles Chap-Stick). You apply it to the bed before printing.

Dang that's a sweet speaker. Had to put on my headphones to hear it properly. Wish I could print it... but my large format printer is down for a full conversion right now. I have an FLSun Q5 and it was my most reliable printer for the longest time. The non-removable glass plate is the worst part about it, makes taking prints off it a real pain, and is the reason I hardly use it anymore. Will eventually pull the glass and put on a magnetic bed. Now my (heavily modified) Ender 3 v2 is my most reliable. Sadly my Anycubic MegaX is the big one and it's been torn apart for over a year awaiting a re-brain (Klipper-supported MoBo), ABL, and Ender-style Direct Drive nozzle conversion. Was excited that FLSun had another large format delta since I wanted the Predator when I got my Q5 but couldn't find one for sale anywhere. $1500 is just way too steep for me.

I've been waiting for some horns, and some other designs. Peter has touched on the subjects before in videos like '5 enclosures you've never heard of,' and similar videos, but hasn't yet produced content on them. Personally I'm waiting for some hybrid enclosures, like those 6th+4th and 8th+4th boxes. I've seen some enclosures floating around over the years, not from Peter, that hybrid a horn with a 4th or 6th but they're fairly elusive to dig up information on. I wish he'd release his software toolkit, almost every tool you can get for free (and probably paid, but I haven't looked for awhile) really only does 2nd order and 4th order bass reflex, 4th order bandpass doesn't exist on these tools, 6th order of any variety is typically jank or nonexistent, etc., it makes DIYing a lot of designs a game of darts.

8:24 If you want to check detail for size-fitting, you dont need to pring it in full size, you can cut 1 small piece in slicer and print it relatively fast with thin walls and low density infill etc.Also slicers have a ruler tool to measure models. First layers on FL is bad cause wrong temp or not well cleaned bed.

I was listening on a Onyko HT receiver with 5 channels of Dayton Audio speakers with 4 inch woofers and for the bass I have a 20 year old JBL 100 watt plate amp with a Audiodynamics AD1310 sub in a 1.3 cu ft box tuned to around 30 hz. Sounded great. How much would you charge to design an enclosure for a single Resilient Sounds platinum 18?

And here I thought I was the only maker that suffers through multiple equipment problems/hashed prints that take hundreds of hours to finally get right! LOL!!! After many failed attempts I finally managed to complete my first set of large floor standing speakers, and because I am stubbornly old-school, their design relies on a half inch thick layer of compacted quartz sand between the inner and outer walls to eliminate that "PLA-SOUND" enclosure ringing; a down firing 3rd-order reflex port allows clean LF down to 30 hz. Some pieces were printed on a Modix Big60, some on a Anycubic Kobra2 Max. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqXLgKt-jMmko8k They measure very well ( 30-20,000hz plus/minus 4 db ) and I had a huge amount of fun making them. I'm already drawing up a set of plans for a Mark-II version. Cheers!
