How about a nose up at the end (because you're already nose up)instead of a nose down (which is jerky) so the exit is a backflip then up the tree?

+ABMNS PRODUCTION I scrapped the receiver. It's old and beat up and the telemetry pin didn't work. I couldn't find any faults in the wiring or soldering so I figured replacing the receiver was a good course.
@ichoozjc8 жыл бұрын
Nice. I understand better now. I think the best exit of that move is to go up and over the trees, keeping the camera aimed at the trees. Then you could do the same move again, then find a new hole, rinse and repeat.

+endyouoff or you could do backwards power loops through the gap :P
@Kabab8 жыл бұрын
endyouoff exit backwards, punch it then pitch forward till inverted floating in direction of travel. then yaw spin while inverted by roll and yaw rather than just yaw. usually into, around or over an object. this seems to be one of Matty's preferred exits. very graceful.

@fsarfino8 жыл бұрын
No pants on again Josh !!! Try whipping your quad through with momentum after the yaw out then add a little positive pitch with some throttle at least that's what I'm pretty sure I do when I try a move similar to this. I usually follow up with a split s or something cool over the trees to link it all together. Thanks for the series I've learned alot from you.

You should make a video on the 5dbi antenna mod for the Taranis! also it would be cool for you to work with some micros. Winter is coming fast here in Canada so indoor FPV is gonna be the way to get through the cold and snow.

very nice. the last bit you were doing was kinda heading towards the Johnny S move where he's rolled about 60deg and then pitch down yaw right for like a sideways yaw spin kinda thing. the matty moves are significantly easier at 50deg tilt or greater. you just gotta get used to handling the cruising speed that goes along with the tilt. trying to do them at 45deg or less is not only more difficult, it just cannot look right. you can't physically execute the moves with the direction the thrust is pointing relative to the camera. he runs a super light super powerful setup so as to better handle the constant speed.
@maribomba22908 жыл бұрын
how many times did you climd that trees?
@rnelias8 жыл бұрын
joshua, I think in the second maneuver, you do need to coordinate pitch forward because pure yaw, as your quad is tilted due to forward fly, will produce a counter trhust and will break the movement. Thus, if you coordinate the pitch forward, the quad will level and gain some altitude, stop the breaking effect and gain more backward distance. Does that make sense? Note that you can also remove the counter thurst by coordinating some roll and you're actually doing it in some of your tries. The roll will put the thrust to left or right depending which side you applied the roll.
@JoshuaBardwell8 жыл бұрын
Pure yaw, by definition, will never change the thrust direction.
@rnelias8 жыл бұрын
are you sure about this? Hold you quad 30 degrees as if it was flying forward and apply a rotation in the yaw axis. I think the forward thrust will be converted to what I called "counter thrust" to break the movement. Well... your stick movements proves what I'm talking. You always compensate the counter thrust applying some pitching forward and it will be much more pronounced if you approaches the obstacle faster. But if you're talking about a completely leveled craft. zero degrees with horizon, I agree with you. The thrust will be always toward the ground (by definition) despite any yaw rotation angle.
@rnelias8 жыл бұрын
You can only complete this maneuver with pure yaw if you level the craft first... and you'll need some inertia to keep the movement.
@JoshuaBardwell8 жыл бұрын
Pure yaw does not change the direction of thrust. Assuming a perfect tune that allows the copter to yaw without any unwanted pitch or roll movement, you can yaw 360 all day long and the copter will continue moving whatever direction it was moving before you started yawing. This is the definition of pure yaw, as I understand it, so what I'm saying is really a tautology. I compensate the yaw movement with either coordinated roll or pitch forward because pure yaw would give me too much thrust, not too little. If you are pitched 35 degrees forward and then you yaw 180, you will end up pitched 35 degrees backwards. That's not what I want in these cases, which is why you see me using coordinated roll or pitch-forward to compensate. But notice that when I yaw 180, the actual direction of thrust and motion does not change at all, only the copter's orientation relative to that thrust and motion.
@rnelias8 жыл бұрын
I think I see what you mean... sorry I was not thinking in the commands separately but they coordinated ... suppose you start the maneuver looking to the ground (crazy forward fly) and apply 180 degrees of pure yaw. You would finish looking to the sky and it's not what you want (and usually the pitch forward corrects it). If you over pitch, it would start to produce the breaking effect due to thrust in the opposite direction (note that, now, I'm considering yaw+excessive forward pitch coordinated). Thus, in fact, this maneuver can't be done with "pure yaw". You must always coordinate some pitch and/or roll (which is actually what I was trying to conclude). The tricky part is the amount of pitch (or roll) according to your forward speed and how tilted you approach the obstacle.

Joshua I love you I have wanted to know how to do this trick for so long and I just watch the video just now and it clicked I didn't know once you go inverted you just slowly do a front flip with throttle I thought it was so much harder now I obviously it's going to take a lot of finesse and timing to make it look like his version this video should give us the gist of it

Speaking of Matty, he posted on IG yesterday about making the spring tension super loose on his sticks. I tried it and I does feel better to me.

I went the opposite direction and increased tension as much as i could, especially on yaw as it felt so loose i often cought myself wondering if it had come loose..
@badmofo3508 жыл бұрын
Joshua Bardwell I don't pinch. I've tried and after years of thumbing I just can't get used to it. Matty thumbs also I think. I after I made this comment I flew my 5" and the yaw did feel a little too loose. I first tried it on my 4" and it felt really nice but with my 5" it felt a little sketchy. I'll tighten them up some but I'll definitely keep them looser than they were. I had tightened them up when I first got the radio and I only flew fixed wing. Ts5823s vtx; ripped the video in trace off. Would you happen to know another place I can solder the wire to? I've tried continuity test on another one that's intact but can't find anything.

I don't. Fortunately, TS5823 is only $10 or so at myrcmart.com, so not too big a price to pay to replace it.

those trees make a perfect place to practice that move. Matty is so good because he practices on the sim so much. his sim is setup like his quad plus he is using 5s sk a little more power. I commented on the last vid with an issue. please help. I can't get anything to flash.

+Joshua Bardwell, I spent some time trying out this trick in hotprops. You can see a really clean version of Matty doing it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqnGipyDo6aSg5om42s at 1:42. I was flying in the sim with over 45 deg of camera angle so if I wanted to make it look like his trick I had to use reverse inputs of yaw and roll to have the half roll keep the horizon level like he does. It made the trick much easier as I could keep the target I planned to fly backwards under during the whole trick. So left roll and right yaw if I want to do a half barrel to the left. But I totally loose orientation the few times I tried it for real. So breaking it down into bits like you did is a brilliant idea!!
