What a handful of blessings you have been given sir. I was born and raised in Northern California and I’ve been a avid steelhead and salmon fisherman for as long as i could hold a pole, that trout you just landed was bigger then some of our ocean going streams average steelhead. What a awesome and beautiful fish. Our fishery’s are struggling and suffering so bad over the last number of years, and it kills me. Fishing is more than a sport. More than a passion, it’s the thing we built our life around, Thank you for sharing such amazing memories sir.

Hi from Canada our Lake Diefenbaker has Rainbows to 50lbs. I would like today that your fishing looks like the best in the world. My biggest Rainbow is 10lbs. Probably a third the weight of yours but did run and jump for 200 yds. Your flys are 1st rate. Great jealousness from Victoria BC. I once gave a older New Zealander River guide a fly and instruction. Wow he was happy with a 6lb. Rainbow..in the local stocked Lake.. Great video's and good luck.

I have yet to see any of you Kiwi anglers keep a fish. Granted, rainbows aren't as good for eating as salmon are, and I would never kill one as big as the bows you guys catch and release, but have you guys ever done a "Catch and Cook" episode (similar to Addicted Fishing, or Cascadia Kayak Fisherman)? It doesn't have to be with trout. Or, do you guys even like to eat fish?
@TrippinOnTrout3 жыл бұрын
I simply don’t keep fish bro. Not my thing. Plus those back country rivers that I fish can’t actually sustain people taking fish - there just aren’t enough numbers to allow for that without having a serious impact on the fishery.
@jonlobello71513 жыл бұрын
@@TrippinOnTrout Thanks for getting back to me so soon. Yes, and it is good that you guys practice catch and release for that reason alone. I just wish that more people would practice it up here (in the U.P of Michigan) more often. I do like to eat fish and will occassionally take a trout home. I also have other species availible to eat. What really irratates me is some youtube nimrods(novices), hold the fish entirely too long out of water before releasing it (not you and your partner, though). I mean what's the purpose of catch and release if the released trout dies anyway? I would like to see you do a episode on NZ Brook Trout (brookies--or as known in Canada Speckled Trout or specks). I know you have them in a few spots in NZ.
