This competition is so different from a large still water. Pure fishing at it’s finest. Plus you were in the presence of some of the giants of river fly anglers. You both earned and deserved your place in your team. Gave it one hundred percent. So don’t sell yourself short. Also hope your phone is not ten minutes pregnant.Technical term for not being in perfect operating condition. Lol

The phone survived the ordeal pal. The issue is you can make a video or you can compete. Doing both is rarely a wise decision.

@@lindsayiflyfish The combination of slick slippery rocks and moving water be it inches or reasonably deep. The dangers and risks are real. Comedy is when nobody is hurt. At least it was (refreshing) with no damage to you or equipment. A rod or phone while not cheap. They cost one hell of a lot less than a funeral.

Hi Lindsay, thanks for the video. I traveled across the pond in 2017 and 2018 and was fortunate to fish the Tees in the Middleton-in Teesdale area. Lovely little town with fine people and the scenery and fishing was spectacular. Your video brought back those wonderful memories.

super video, the drone shots are super. The fact you managed a short swim or two is comforting, the Tees is dangerous if you are not prepared and wearing felt soles/studs and a stick. 51 fish is bloody awesome there.

Yes, unbelievable but that speaks to the quality of the angler.

Great video Lindsay I was lucky enough to fish the top section of the Tees just above where you were controlling last weekend under the guidance of John Tyzack and Andy Cliffe, we learned so much. Once they got us presenting our flies correctly it was their confidence that if we hadn't raised a fish they would get us to move quickly (difficult wading on this river and I was surprised I didn't fall in) to the next pocket and work that. Where can you find out where and when these competitions are held? I think there is so much to learn by watching you lads fish in these competitions. If I wanted to have a go at competitive river fly fishing how do go about this?
@lindsayiflyfish3 жыл бұрын
You made a great start doing the River Academy with JT and Andy. If you want to compete in the rivers comp scene as an individual the best way is by doing the England qualifier. Details should be on the AT website.

Good video again sir no what you mean about pressure of competition fishing after taking part in first one few weeks ago was fine until got home then hit me don't think realised how much concentration put into it during day
@lindsayiflyfish3 жыл бұрын
Hi Neil, It can be a great buzz. Unless you have done it then it is hard to understand the amount of work and concentration that goes into it.

Hi Lindsay when was this video shot? The hot weather has reduced the upper reaches of the Tees to normal summer levels. I was there only recently and there was absolutely no respite from the blazing sun and the river itself was no where near as full as it appears here.

Just under two weeks Peter.

Cool video, what's the rod setups mainly for this type of competition, what lenght and weights used??
@lindsayiflyfish Жыл бұрын
Not sure about others though I suspect they are the same. For bugging 10' #3 and a dry fly rod 9' #3.

@lindsayiflyfish3 жыл бұрын
Hi Herwig, A lot of guys just stuff it down the front of their fishing vest others use one of these www.huntsoriginal.co.uk/products/3rd-hand-rod-holder hope that helps.
