At least you got to see Costa Rica for a short time. In 2021, the country was closed to sailboats for some odd Covid reason. You could walk or drive or fly across the border, but no sailboats allowed. Oh well. We sailed on to Belize and spent longer there which was the best place ever! ❤️

We had a 31' trimaran capsize in the Gulfport to Pensacola Race earlier today. And it looks like a tropical storm or hurricane might be passing near Grenada in a few days. I hope the boats that are in Granada or heading there, like Zatara, will be ok. Be careful.

45 ft sounds good to me! you might need toadd more chain to your anchor or more rope after the chain? i like 100ft of chain
@OnboardLifestyle6 ай бұрын
The problem was when we drop our hook in 45' of water we would need to put out at least 160' of chain. The shelf that we had to anchor on was only 75' from shore so if the wind shifts, basik would end up on the beach.

I've watched every episode. Now that Emma is older and doing much of the talking in the videos and looks like she really loves this lifestyle, does it seem highly likely that she will want to continue living this lifestyle and do KZbin when she leaves the nest? By the way, I found out about traveling across the Pacific with pets. I didn't know that information before. What are your plans after you cruise the Caribbean? Do you think you will do Americas Great Loop?

Do dolphins ever hit propellers or are they smart and avoid them? I'm asking because I've never heard of them hitting propellers and have no clue if they do or not.
@OnboardLifestyle6 ай бұрын
They mostly hang out around the bow, far away from the props.
@robertlaird67466 ай бұрын
@@OnboardLifestyle That's what I've seen as well. I haven't seen scars from prop strikes in person or videos. I also haven't heard of any prop strikes before on dolphins.
@TeddyCavachon6 ай бұрын
They are very smart. I see them herding fish and shrimp in the water behind our house along the ICW in North Carolina which faces Oak Island. They seem to be smart enough to use the tidal flow in the ICW rather than the ocean to transit and feed. 😊 🐬
@robertlaird67466 ай бұрын
@@TeddyCavachon Thanks. That helps me understand them a little more than I did before! I did know that they were smart because I was told that many times but other than that, all of that other stuff you said, I didn't know. So, thanks for that. Now I very curious about dolphins and motor boat props. I'm on a quest to find out.

Lol... Too deep ... Sailing Atticus discovered in Turkey their 100ft of chain wasnt enough the locals carry 100M, plus rhode and the y might only be...a few boat lengths off shore. Flooded valleys, Ffiords all are deep deep anchorages close to shore and the winds can blow up anytime and direction. 🧙🏻♂️🇬🇧🤷🏻

dont trust your pilot too much in the canal zone. many are hot dogs and dont like small vessels. their job is protected and accidents happen. a pilot named whitehead tore the prop shaft out of a vessel in gatun by running too close to the rocks. fair winds, k
