Thanks everyone for complements below. I am very fortunate that I got to be in a video on Bobby's channel. We have so many great content creators in this area and I am still a very small player in the aviation youtube world. It means a lot to see that there are viewers that watch my channel here and my subscriber count is blowing up today which is very humbling. I love flying. I love my Grumman. I love making people laugh and I am grateful to get to crossover onto other channels and I am very grateful to everyone here that has taken a peek at my channel. Cheers! Fly safe! and Thank you! Bobby, I owe you one.

I had to take a medical flight with my local FSDO and I found the ASI to be one of the nicest, most professional people I've ever met in aviation. I also got the impression that the FSDO people were there to help me fly rather than find any excuse to take me out of the air. I was really stressed out about having to deal with them but now I have a great contact at the FAA.

It has been a long time since my active flying days, but the Grumman Traveler is a plane that I flew from PBI in the 70's. It quickly became my favorite 4 place! The one I flew had a latch to keep the canopy open if I wanted it. Loved the fully castoring nose wheel once I got used to it.

I follow many aviation KZbin channels and found this one. Cory Robin, Trent Palmer and Mike Patey are my favorites, but you are now at the top. Thank you for great content. Being a retired navy guy, and former Blue Angel (not a pilot), aviation is in my blood and I WILL get my license. Channels like yours and the others mentioned above are the reason! Thanks!

I've been following Bryan's "Just Plane Silly" channel for about 6 months now. Very cool to see him here. Great job on the no flaps landing. Bobby, you made me smile when he said "looks like a no flaps landing" and you promptly pulled the harness over your shoulder. 😊 Looks like Bryan might have something coming out as well since he was also filming. Another great video. Keep it up Bobby.

I own a 1992 American General Tiger and I have finally fallen in love with an airplane. Many Cessna and Pipers later and I have found the one! This airplane flies beautifully, unlike may other planes that seem to resist your control input, the Tiger simply complies and smiles, and says, "I love you too". Simple and fast, which seems easy enough but in reality is often an oxymoron in general aviation. Because of the combination, it is obviously, less expensive to fly /own. I can't say enough about these airplanes. I wish I would have known about these birds when I began flying in 1990, I would have enjoyed general aviation a lot more... I now use my Cessna 172 as the taxi that takes me to the hangar where my Tiger is...

Sounds like he was talking about 6y9 in Sidnaw, Michigan which is in the western Upper Peninsula. I live in Michigan, in the UP, and have for most of my life. It is definitely a beautiful place, especially the UP, which is totally different from the Lower Peninsula. The two peninsulas are not physically connected, unless you count the 5-mile long Mackinac Bridge, one of the world’s longest suspension bridges.

Is there a vertical strake under the tail? We put spin kits on a few of the Grumman aircraft if I remember correctly.
@JustPlaneSilly

Only on The travelers. That's the easiest way to tell them from the other two. The traveler has a horizontal stabilizer that is 3 feet shorter than the tiger and cheetah so I believe that vertical strike on the bottom helps with stability and spin prevention to a limited extent

I’m glad there was a happy ending regarding the run in with the FAA. I can’t stand people that decide to get social justice on someone because suddenly that became their calling/job. I flew with a guy once in his Grumman Tiger at night taking his daughter to an event a couple hrs away. He wasn’t comfortable flying at night and I volunteered to go as a CFII. Upon our return on short final at the airport of origin, he was wanting to flare for the landing at 100’ above the threshold. I’m glad I went to help out.

Very nice. I love Bryan's videos, but didn't know about this channel. Found it on reddit. I actually had to do a no-flap landing (well, just a low approach, really) on my checkride. No problem at all on long runways. And then I had an actual flap failure, but caught it on the ground and had to cancel the flight for the day. Flaps would extend, but not retract, which can be a problem in the little 100 hp Socata Rallye when you need to go around. The huge 2/3-span fowler flaps on the Rallye allow you to land in 100 m, but create enormous drag.

Grumman's are great little airplanes! Dad and I used to fly a Yankee, and it was loads of fun as long as you didn't let her get too slow. I was hoping you would discuss the mfg process of how these little birds are bonded together with space age adhesives versus being riveted together like most traditional aircraft. Some of these birds suffer from bad delaminations at critical areas due to bad batches of adhesive. They are referred to as the "purple glue" airframes. I'm sure the owner is aware of this and had his airframe checked out throughly. Great video Bobby and Bryan.

Why do people compare door to door driving time with airport to airport flying time, in this case 4 hours vs 1.5 hours. To be a realistic comparison you have to add in time to drive to the airport, get the plane out, transfer the luggage, planning, clearances, taxiing, run-ups, etc, plus picking up a rental car at the destination, transferring luggage, etc, etc, etc.
@JustPlaneSilly
@JustPlaneSilly 5 жыл бұрын
Still way faster. Otherwise planes wouldn't exist.
@stephenthompson5260
@stephenthompson5260 5 жыл бұрын
Private planes exist because they're fun, or status symbols. For regional distances, like four hours driving distance, door to door, a car is still a shorter duration trip. For longer distances, in a fast aircraft, there's some advantage. All I'm saying is don't compare door to door in a car with airport to airport in a plane. That's not a valid comparison. Compare door to door in both. The answer will be much closer, even the other way round, unless you live at the airport and have someone to drag the plane out and have it ready for you when you arrive.
@JustPlaneSilly
@JustPlaneSilly 5 жыл бұрын
@@stephenthompson5260 oh I'm going to challenge this. all in good fun of course I will put together a video with a stopwatch and count the actual time it takes me to leave my door drive to the airport, pull the plane out, fuel it do run up, and be wheels up. I will subtract that time from a four-hour trip due north of the fastest highway in Dallas which would be interstate 35. I will calculate the time to land my plane tie it down get a bag out and grab a courtesy car or Uber. Let's see who's right I think it will be me. give me a couple weeks that put this together I have a couple of other videos in the queue that I need to get through first but I think this will be interesting. Brian is funny, and his plane kinda looks like something the military would use. Wonder if that Air Shares jet that took off was Jesse from Jesse Flys.

was this the first guy to ask you if you wanted to fly, Bobby? It would be my first question for a guy who'd spent a career flying and had his ticket yanked for health reasons. I hope you enjoyed it.

Bobby and I talked about back last summer (on my channel).. Also, we discussed his career more recently on the In The Hangar show (same channel).
