Using the "Expires in 1 year" filter really works when you are unsure of a player (or later in the game when they are all newgens), giving you a lot of time in advance to scout them, before they are poached by another team. I've been using it as Deportivo to get some older world-class players (though it doesn't always work... Ndidi, Kean and Pogba preferred to renew their contracts or move to another team that offered contracts later).

Great video man. Its helpfull but to be fair, this type of transfers are pretty easy to do if you are managing teams like man united. But if you are managing, for example, an uruguayan team like Nacional (the best team in the league), it is practicaly imposible to convince a player like Cavani, Suárez, Godín, or even Stuani to sign a contract. Firstly, due to the league reputation (although they are uruguayans) and secondly because of the salary expentancy that they have. For me, that's the real challenge. I mean, I can undestand that Cavani or Suarez (top worldclass strikers) dont want to sign a contract with my team, despite been in their home country. But ¿Stuani? Yes he is good, but he is 33 and playing in LaLiga Smartbank, but he demands 14600 - 28000 Euros per week. You simple cant afford wages like that in Uruguay despite my team been 3 times league winner, having great international reputation (in South America) and been well financially. Anyway, great channel and thanks for teaching a lot about fm

I'm doing a career with Colchester in League Two in the first season and I'm currently in March. When I go to say James Rodriguez I have the option 'Approach To Sign' but when I go on a player to approach to sign in the leagues around my team's level with their contract expiring on the same date as Rodriguez I don't have that option?? Do you have any ideas? Thank you

You forget to say that Cavani isn't free at all in your case. You will pay 1.6M pounds for signing on fee + agent fee. This money get out of transfer budget so you should have it in transfer budget in june. You can see on kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXKve4SBqLWfhJI 1.6M will be deducted from the transfer budget of 119M.

Im wondering more about people's succes with snatching players for free like this and if they are able to sell them for profit 6-12 months later ? Im kind of having a hard time selling players in general which makes me hesitant.

Brother Ben I always sign free players that I don’t necessarily need, loan them out for a year and sell the following summer!

I came back to rewatch this as I wanted to try it out. Scouted a bunch of players with 1 year left. I'm at Jan 8 and none of the players have an option to offer contracts to (I did change to 6 months). Playing lower league.

IIRC it also depends on age. I'm not really aware how it works but I believe Under 23 players can't be offered directly or something, or maybe its agentless players. I know there's something that limits that option because I have had the offer option available to some and then to others not. I'm on League One right now (3rd english) so maybe the reputation could also affect (?)
