Omg I felt the same way especially as history shows the Oscars are not meant to recognize us black n brown people in a positive light . As much as I grew up loving the Oscars and the movies I know the symbol of the Oscar represents and it is not of God but of idolatry and false worship.

EXACCCCCTLY…….Goosebumps EVERY Single time mixed with the depth of this song at a time such as this…. I get deeply emotional when I think of what ancestors had to endure and that they would be soooo incredibly sad to see why we are still fighting the same fight that we didn’t create and the ingrained pain that came/comes from it generation after generation 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Girl, you know why she didn't win the Oscars was because some of the white superiors didn't like that movie because it reminded of them just how racist they were towards black people. @@davidalves31057 He won because in all his and Bernie Taupin's career he had never won. I don't think the song was that good. He has written much better stuff. I think he should have gotten a "Life Achievement Award". I love Elton John, have many of his albums, went to many of his shows. I've discovered him when I was quite young in the 70s. The first album I bought was Mad Men Across the Water. The song that was nominated was not one of his best work (not even close). The Song Stand Up, in my opinion, was the best of all of the nominations and the performance was amazing as well.

@@dianneraymont5971 I doubt the voters even listened to the recording. I've listened to Elton John's song, and it's still not the "Best" of the year. The voting body voted on popularity/longevity of the artist not the artistry itself. There was an article in Forbes magazine before the Oscars regarding who should win and who would actually win. The author said Cynthia should win, but Elton would because of familiarity. So, the "fix" was already in.

Abbie J they a really didn’t though. Academy voters rarely watch the films they are voting for. Most of the time they just see what others award shows have done or look at popularity and familiar faces. Elton had already won an Oscar in the 90s and is ELTOK JOHN. Cynthia stood no chance because she is well knowing In the theatre circuit not Hollywood.Plus they have never been to good and representation or diversity. The Oscars are a game and will forever be that until they take film seriously

Before I knew the context of the song...the fact that it has to do with Harriet and the underground railroad...I began to cry when I heard it acapella cause I heard Jesus talking to me. This song and most of it's verses fits whats to come so perfectly...if your a child of God. The seperating line...of the wheats and tares. So many of us are tired and we look to the sky everyday for his return and his promise. This kingdom is not our own. I look forward to that eternal life with him in his kingdom that he is preparing for us. This song hit different when I heard it today. I think it's God speaking through her to his children. I mean no disrespect to the history and memory of slavery...that's just how this song touched me period.

The meaning of the tweets were misconstrued, and she apologized more than once and said if you're not going to listen to my explanation so be it. I agree with her. I've read the tweets and I've seen the apologies. You don't have to accept her apologies, but acknowledge she did apologize and move on. The fact that the "Black community", please leave me out of that so-called community (I'm black), is pushing the hate agenda is awful. When you cannot forgive and move one, you will not be forgiven.
