When my Mother passed away 15 years ago, I remember riding in the car to the cemetery with my husband and son. Both men were quiet and sad. Just then I remembered the day my Mother and I were sitting and sewing together, listening to one of Chonda’s performances. We laughed until our sides hurt. I remember one of her funny lines, “ We”re dropping like flies”. I told my guys that to help lighten the moment and still feel the Lord had blessed me with the utmost peace that entire day. I knew where my Mom was and I would see her again. I am thankful to hear someone say laughter gets them through tough times. It certainly does for me. Thank you Chonda and may God bless you like crazy.

If your child has cut you off, don't give up hope. I married a narcissistic sociopath who isolated me from my friends and family for 10 years. When I finally "woke up" and got away, I went right back to my family. I couldn't erase the pain those 10 years had caused, but I spent every weekend thereafter with my parents.

Without laughter it's impossible to remain sane in this life. I'm so glad I ran across this today. I watch over a parent in their late 90's, and the stress of caring for someone who only knows negativity and criticism is taking it's toll on me. Thanks for the blessing of laughter at the end of a difficult week.

Thank you, Chonda. My husband died 4 years ago at the age of 64. We have a Christian daughter and had a prodigal daughter who cohabited with her partner. They have 2 children. Praise the Lord, He saved her soul about half a year ago. Now she and her partner have broken up and my daughter + kids + the German Shepherd have moved in with me. Life now is a mixture of suffering and joy. Listening to you helped me to see context and have faith in the faithfulness of our loving Father. His grace is sufficient for me. May the joy of the Lord fill the hearts of you and all your listeners.

I began life as a "preacher's kid". My upbringing was very similiar to this blessed daughter of God. As the preacher's daughter I was told "preacher's kids are the wildest kids in town." During my growing up years I learned many hard lessons through my choices. Line upon line, here a little, there a little; precept upon precept. Heavenly Father's timing is exquisite. He knows my heart. His desire is my desire. Returning to live in eternal glory with my family.

Since my mom died unexpectedly last year, I have struggled with finding my own identity. I lived with my mom. We were very close. I have a few disabilities that had brought me back home from serving as a missionary when I was 27. I’m turning 40 this weekend. Spending most of my time alone, it has been very hard. I helped my mom a lot and always felt like my purpose was to be there for her. I no longer a daughter. Not loved as much as I used to be. It’s been hard to understand who I am now and God’s purpose in my life. Chonda is such a blessing and I always get the best laugh listening to her.❤

I had to leave my husband after 36 and 1/2 years he died on his own almost 3 years later aged 81. He was a narcissist. I spent all our marriage looking after he kept going into hospital yet when I got sick and had to go into hospital he didn’t like it. I felt I was flogging a dead horse. My kids were pleased when I left him and said I should have left him years ago yet I felt I had to stick to my marriage as I don’t believe in divorce. I didn’t divorce him when he died because I couldn’t afford it. Now I get his pension. I felt guilty at first. But God is good all the time despite the crippling pain I live with every day.

I lost my beloved 1 year ago. He is in heaven waiting on me. I still don’t know who I am without him. I have 3 wonderful sons and daughters in love and 3 lovely granddaughters and 2 blessed grandsons under 1 years old. I’m blessed beyond measure but still struggling with who I am without him after 40 years of marriage God has guided my steps but I still struggle with my own identity.

Thank you for sharing Kathy. We’re very sorry to hear about your recent loss and we want to put an arm around you during this difficult time. We’ll be praying that the Lord will make His invisible presence very real to you, and that He Himself will intervene in amazing ways to fill the empty places in your heart. Also, if you’d ever like to talk with one of our caring pastoral counselors, they’d be glad to speak with you. Just dial 1-800-A-FAMILY (1-800-232-6459) anytime between 6:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. (MT) Monday through Friday and ask to speak to a pastoral counselor. The Family Help Center staff member who answers the phone will arrange for a call-back just as soon as possible. There’s no cost for this - we just want to come alongside you in any way we can. God Bless- Ella L.

@@elliemathews6884 That is so true. Bible has mother against daughter, father against son. And so on the devil wants everyone to be against each other. That is only mission.

We are sorry you are going through that. If you’d like to talk with one of our counselors (at no cost to you), call 855-771-HELP (4357) weekdays between 6 A.M. and 8 P.M. (MT). Just give your number to the Family Help Center staff member who answers the phone. They will pass along your phone number to one of our caring Christian counselors. One of them will return your call just as soon as they’re able. - Beth A.
