Great unboxing. The studio is looking very smart (now that the smoke has cleared) :)

Thanks. The decorations are literally piles of unreviewed kits. Eventually it will fall and crush me…

Thank you! This set is very interesting and might just tip me over the edge into getting started. One thing that has been hard for me as a player hoping to jump in for the first time is understanding what kind of point value is in the box, and what configuration of built kits will yield a fun, playable force to get started with. I have a friend who has the US/Soviet starter force sitting on his shelf but have been eying the french since their initial release, and it hasn't been very clear how well starters play against one another, and what kind of investment and rounded force looks like.

If you do want the French starter set. better grab one now. They are limited edition. Knowing the points of different starters can be a challenge.

Great video as always! I do wish that the "super tanks" came in boxes of 3 vs 5, 5 is just too many for what they are
@FogofWar Жыл бұрын
Yeah. So you get a box of 5 Leclerc on the Leclerc Tank Platoon box, but only 3 S-tanks in the S-tank Platoon box. Hard to fathom the reasoning.

You certainly know your stuff, it's nice to see someone passionate about something that actually happened rather then make belief such as Harry Potter. I never got into Harry Potter, I prefer my soldiers and Airfix models. When I was a child I used to have my own style, yeah I know I'm the odd one out but I just don't like fantasy or sci fi generally speaking. I would much rather go to a war museum then watch Avatar, there is a series called horrible histories by the BBC you may like.

@@FogofWar Awesome, last month I went to Newcastle to buy 2 WWI fighter aircraft and a set of Africa Corps. You should make a video about your Airfix models. I must admit I do like making them, I also have a collection of police figurines too. I'm glad they export Airfix to America, now the Americans can enjoy them as much as I do. I live in the UK and there used to be an Airfix shop right up the road from me.

It does look good but it’s a shame as the stocks of French box sets in the uk has made some difficult or hard to find as so many older kits out of stock
@FogofWar Жыл бұрын
Hopefully the stock situation has eased by now.

I wonder if the point limits on TY tournaments will increase because some "last wave super tanks" are availeble now...? In general I think it becomes important now that you make "narrative rules" to your game in TY because you've got equipment from the 1950s up to the 2000+. I mean 3 Leclercs are 55 pts so your opponent could field 55 T-55 against them. That's according to the rules but senseless. The french come with some nice unique stuff so always worth thinking taking them.
@ausaskar Жыл бұрын
Some TOs are moving in that direction, high point lists + formation limits to stop T-55 and T-62 (and Humvee) spam. Previously, I've believed these limits were unfair to nations that didn't have access to high end tanks, but now most nations do. I think only the Oil Wars lists and Cubans don't.
@trekanbelluvitsh Жыл бұрын
@@ausaskar A solution might be a slightly change of the rules so you can not only field an allied formation as support but an allied compulsary unit as support. i.e. if you play the belgians and take a Leclerc pln. (just thinking...)
@FogofWar Жыл бұрын
The French do have unique stuff, and that’s always part of the appeal. As for raising points to get supertanks into the game, that’s a double-edged sword. My local opponent does East Germans. If we up the points on games he’s going to need another table just to deploy all his stuff!

You'd have thought a New Zealand company would have ways to get product to Australia, being one of the few places it's not far from. 😁

Products are made in Malaysia and distributed from the UK. So this stuff has literally gone around the world to get back to this timezone.
