I hope not. Too many people vanish and you never hear about it on the news. They cannot tell people how dangerous it is. It is a very scary thing to be out there and never found. I pray this never touches my family. I pray this stops. No one deserves to just disappear and leave their family not knowing what happened to them.

I worked with a woman whose brother was 19 y/o, and schizophrenic. He lived with their parents. He liked to go walking in the woods behind the house, but one day he didn't come back. His sister called the police, then made up flyers. She took a flyer to the police, and they asked again how old he was. When she said 19, they just LAUGHED in her face, and told her "Nineteen? We know where he's at!!!" She explained again that he was schizophrenic, supposed to be on meds....He was found pacing on the shoulder of a road 3 days later, by a driver who called the police.

I think it was last July or so a mans remains was found here and there was several FBI and VA State troopers prowling all over the forest near my home,I live very close to the AT .the police stated he was not a trail hiker the body had been fed on by critters and they only recovered about 20% of his bones,he was found by a crew doing an impact study for american eletric power.because the power company was replacing the old wooden power poles with steel towers ,but nothing was ever put in our local newspaper and it seemed like hardly anyone heard anything about it and the main reason that we even knew about it was because there was about like 200 FBI agents out and prowling around the Highway and standing along Rt 52 going up the mountain and they had the highway blocked no one knows who this person was or how he died or if it is known no one is telling anything about it .my Nephew works as maint.at the county Court HOuse and he told me the remains was brought to the court house in a black plastic trash bag and the APCO guys left it in the County CLerks office and she called my nephew and told him to get the sheriff to come and take it out of her office. only thing for sure is it was a male and he had been in the woods about a year.one thing for sure is if you die in these woods something will come along and eat you before long,i put out a trail camera and in 5 days I had 739 pictures of Black Bears and Deer and only 4 of those pictures was Deer.the Bears are all over the place here I see them almost every week here.but I do wonder how this body came to be laying out in the woods just seems strange he may have been murdered and dumped there.I guess we may never know how it came about now.

Another great job of bringing us this information Rusty, Thank you. During my years in LE, I learned from what was once considered a reliable source, the FBI, that in America there "were" likely 2500 active serial killers hard at their evil deeds every year! That was not for public broadcast back then, but I wonder if that were the case back then, what might those figures look like today? It has always been my contention that a fair number of missing people are directly related to serial killer activity and having some knowledge of that kind of and side of, human nature, it isn't surprising that parks or other forms of popular hiking spots would become "hunting grounds" for the evil minded and this location certainly fits my own concepts of where and how these killers would hunt.... I have run across some sketchy situations in my own travels in the woods and once, at a trail head where had I not been openly armed and "well dogged", things might have gone bad for me real quick. Folks should enjoy our great outdoors but be ready and willing to deal with whatever threat presents itself... From Man or Beast! I haven't made any satisfactory progress in attempting to solve or at least gain some understanding of missing people beyond what can be attributed to human activity being likely or responsible without a doubt! There are things in this world that simply and for whatever reason, cannot be explained nor fully comprehended. Anyone who has spent any real amount of time out there in remote forested areas knows that incidents occur that cannot be logically or reasonably considered nor explained by conventional thought. By the way, I would really like to see what the rest of that trail and country surrounding it looks like to the hiker!

Hunting squirrel and small game in the fall I remember sometimes , not often how it would get dead quiet back in those woods. No insects or birds nothing . An uneasy feeling in my stomach like something wasn't right. Just complete silence. And that creepy feeling of being watched . It freaked me out and I would bail out of there. Eh, Rusty, I imagine you have plenty of cases to focus on but there is an interesting one near me, here on Vancouver Island. His name is Ben Kilmer. A young father in his 40s , who went missing in odd circumstances. I believe his work truck was discovered in a rural area outside of a small town north of Victoria called Duncan. The vehicle was left running which was something he would do along with a door ajar when he planned only a brief stop. supposedly a small amount of blood was also found either in the van or near by trail or both. There were no signs of anything being negative at home he is a happy husband and father. A very extensive search was done in the area which really leaves me perplexed as to what has happened as this are is densly forested with limited trails and roads all of which would have been thoroughly searched. His face and case was well covered in the media leaving it extremely unlikely he made it off the island without being recognized. Its as if he just vanished/ The case of Emma Philipoff is also interesting.

Bigfoot are also Ambush Hunters. Wait behind a tree, near a trail, guy walks by and is grabbed before he can even piss his pants. His chicken neck is snapped, OR head pulled from the shoulders, then, the dog is also quick work. Not saying this scenario is responsible for all these "missings" but Im sure quite a few. These Foots will hunt and eat you given half a chance. American Indian tribes living along the Sierras of California all knew this and called them Cannibals. When I walk through forest now I stay off trails and very closely monitor directly in front of me for anything attempting to secret itself behind a tree. A gun will help if you have the time to use it

I know I didn't disappear, but I have always been bothered by something that happened to me. It was 1992 and I had just graduated from high school. I was drinking at a friend's house that was about 5 miles south of my house. I didn't like some of the company that had showed up so I tried to get a ride home. After my attempts to get a ride had failed I decided to walk home. I knew there was a school about halfway in between my friends house and mine if I got tired. Sure enough I was beat by the time I made it to the school so I decided to take a nap out back of the school and when I woke all I could see was ranch land for miles in all directions. No school, no houses, nothing. I didn't have anything to even guess what direction I was facing. I took off walking with a guess. Eventually I seen a cross roads in the distance and I knew if I could get to the street signs I would know roughly where I was. When I finally made it to the signs and read them I had realized that I was 10 miles north of my home in a field. I had somehow moved around 12 miles from where I took a nap in on the opposite side of my destination. Yes I had been drinking, but not so much that I was hammered. I knew where I was when I took that nap. I had lived in that area for 13 years. It still puzzles me even today whatever happened that night. I can certainly see why some of these mysterious disappearances involving someone's remains or items were found miles from where they were and just don't make any sense. Thanks for your work and keeping these cases alive.
