I think the reason these cakes come out so bland is because the base amount of sugar and whatnot in the base desserts is already perfect, but once you add the self-rising flour, it kinda dilutes the flavor.

When making a box cake mix, you can substitute applesauce for the oil. Oil makes a cake heavier and it dries out faster. Applesauce will make it lighter and fluffier and it will stay fresher longer and enhances the flavor, in my opinion. It's also a healthier alternative, not that cake is a "healthy" food. LOL I'm wondering if you would be able to substitute something else for the flour in those "mug cakes". I'm sure baking them in an oven instead of a microwave would probably improve the quality and taste. The frozen coke didn't work because it isn't ice cream, it's like a Slurpee or Icee, basically just flavored shaved ice.

Ice creams are a thicker due to the cream so adding a bit of liquid will even out that dense texture, to help with the sweetness add a bit more sugar and a tiny bit of salt, and if you want it to taste like something definitely add some flavoring

If you want a REALLY easy cake mix idea, use an old Weight Watchers trick: combine one boxed cake mix with a 12 oz can of soda. Mix and bake according to the package directions. A fan favorite was Sprite, but I heard some others got good results with Mt Dew or orange soda.

Food Theory is Matpat's stroke of genius. Not only does it give him infinite creativity with his video ideas, as food has been around forever and doesn't have trendy topics in the way games and movies do, but it also gives him a chance to do more in person lab tests with Steph, and gives us things we can utilize in everyday life through recipes and cooking hacks.

I actually decided to try this because I was curious but rather than fast food i just got to small bowls of icecream one mixed with crushed oreos and the other with pieces of poptart, they didn't have a ton of flavour but i think similarly to the milkshake the chunky ingredients actually really helped the taste. I also think it actually tasted more flavourful the day after i made it after it had been in the fridge for a while. Overall, it tasted pretty good though.

I have a love for McDonald's because the ice-cream machine had been out of order when I got in, but it started working when I ordered (like it actually was visually out of order, and the icecream was having difficulties coming out). The tablet things they use to take your order were not, though, and the cashiers just decided that since it had been such a chaotic time, they would give it to me for free. I stayed behind to try to give them the money cause I grew up being told that you should always pay, but they just told me to leave. I felt bad for them, but also I respect them so much.
