It would be helpful in a video to show how to activate or deactivate this effect depending on texture your standing on or confining it to a region.

Is there a way to not cast the third person character and to use interfaces instead? For performance sake.

Very cool tutorial. I have a difficulty figuring out applying this to AI controlled character, not my character. The "cast to" part is the hard one for me. I do "Event Blueprint Begin Play -> Cast to AICharacter (object = Get Player Character) -> Set Char REF". When playing I get an error "Accessed None trying to read property Char REF". I feel like (object = Get Player Character) is the problem, but not sure. Any advice would be of enormous help, guys

Matt, thank you so much for this video. I always wondered how games did this. It adds a level of immersion to the game that you can't get otherwise. So you would tint then decals brown for mud and a bit green for grassy areas? I'd think a tint would be better then creating new ones. This is so cool! Thanks again.

No problem Gary, always a pleasure to help! I love the simple features like this in games too. And yep, adding a tint to it sounds like a very efficient way of doing it to get different footsteps for the different areas. Glad you enjoyed it, no problem :)

this doesnt work for multiplayer since you always store player 0 as the character reference...

Does this work with wheels and stuff? Also is it possible to make them go Into the snow
@MattAspland
@MattAspland 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, you can use the same process for wheel yeah, you would just place the plane under your wheels, or get the wheel location, and change the texture to be that of a tyre/wheel track.
