Awe man! That’s sweet! Outstanding color palette with the walnut. That alternating thick and thin pattern with big dots in the middle is so similar to some of my own references I collected for my last project. You sir have great taste! LOVE IT!!
@skewedmaker7 жыл бұрын
Great, simple design and I like the way the wood legs compliment the fabric. Maybe add wooden plugs to cover the screws if it's out in the open and non-skid feet if kids will be climbing on it.
@thebeardedartisan7 жыл бұрын
I haven't attempted upholstery yet. But this has made me realise an air stapler isn't necessary. Great job. 👍
@peterpoertner95737 жыл бұрын
Nice easy build David! I agree, the wax does set off the walnut in a very pleasing way. If you weren't going to change the legs out later, I would suggest using a plug on the screw holes, perhaps a contrasting wood like oak or even using pegs instead of screws.

Upholsted furniture buisness for almost thirty as an upholsterer for ten The corner pleats You can do them differently Start as you did Pull down on the corner This will give you two pleats Roll the excess tight and pull the pleats straight down This would work best with a leg assembly that fits into the bottom best Made one of these about ten years ago for the mother in love who was using a plastic stepping stool to pro her her up in church and was having hip pain Made several more to sell Sold one Gave up. Lol People just don't appreciate craftsman compared to something that gonna fall apart in a few years. Using a air staple gun will make the Staples hold better as well Overall Props dude The legs look awesome And for your first shot at upholstery, did well!!

Great build...love the fabric and wood choices but why leave those silver screws exposed???...I would’ve cut some plugs from the scraps you cut off to make the angles and filled them in...I know it’s going under a desk but the finish looked so good on the walnut to have exposed screws!!..jmho...keep up the great work!!!

David, can you briefly explain the advantages and disadvantages of the domino vs the old trusty biscuit. a video would be amazing but a few words would be greatly appreciated
@MakeSomething7 жыл бұрын
They do the same thing. A domino is thicker and made of wood so it may be stronger. Also the dust collection is fantastic on the domino. That being said you can save tons of money with a biscuit jointer.

Great prototype! Your next version should miter the front corners at 37 1/2° each, instead of one at 45 and one at 30. That way you don’t have any awkward trimming to do.

first of excellent video!, also good of you to list all the info too, nice of you to spend the time to do this. Lastly, 'squarespace' - I am looking to make a 'shop' of wooden products such as small side boards, etc, a few different things bit not loads, perhaps between 6 - 10 at first. Which template do you recommend? i am cluless at these things. It would give me an idea because they look all the same to me - I am old school still not discovered fire yet :)

Do you have the plans for this project?
@stevenbartholomew97497 жыл бұрын
On the next one (non-prototype) why dont you just modify the one sides angle to be something other than 45? If you cut one set of mitres at 45, it will give you the square leg, and then cut the other set of mitres at 37.5 then it will give you the same outline, without the awkward angles and rip cuts.
