I saved all my burr cutting money to buy them. Dad had border collie work dogs. Was great walking I to the book store and seeing a new edition. Loved the covers. Loved it all. Thanks Murray

Footrot Flats isn’t just popular in New Zealand - it’s loved in the UK too. No matter how many times I watch this movie, I always find something different to laugh at! It’s a movie for young and old alike. The only point I don’t understand is why haven’t the big media platforms not shown it as part of their comedy programmes?

I read and owned Footrot Flats comic books around 40 years ago and my son came across them and loved them as well and has a collection of them. I am sure any kid reading them today would enjoy them .

My old boy died on the 13th of March 2021. Played this at his funeral. We use to watch this movie when I was a lil tacker and just seemed to sum him up to a tea with great memories. Hard working man who loved his sports, dogs and family❤️.

I was in Rhodesia in the late 1970s. Footrot Flats appeared on the rear page of Rhodesian Farmer. I have never heard adult men laugh out loud at any other comic strip before or since. I still have about 20 of the books and saw the stage show on Invercargill in 1984. I never knew there was a film so I am off to order it on the internet now.

One of my NZ friends introduced me to this Comicstrip in Europe, YEARS ago. I still have the comic somewhere. And incredibily, something funny made me think of this Farmer and would you believe it, - voila - there it is on youtube.

How Ive always loved this song and the Footrots Flats and Murray Ball. I was so sad when his syndication ceased!! Our sunday cartoons just werent the same!! As an Australian born of moari blood, with lost ancestry, it was just in my blood, you know?! Like the Haka and green rolling hills!!😁GREAT TRIBUTE MATE.

As another fan of old, yep, I grew up knowing Footrot Flats, seeing in newspapers and gaining access to a few of the books. I always wished I could read more of them, but I also grew up in a lot of financial problems - single mother after I was 10, trying to keep her kids in a church school. I also remember the movie - one of the fond memories of Hoyts Cinema Sydney I have. It was actually a long time before I realised the comics were not Australian, which says that the experience of Kiwi farmers is very similar to that of Aussie farmers (at least coastal Aussies).

The first thing I did when I flew into NZ for a holiday was buy a stuffed toy of the dog. It sit on my dressing table from 34 years ago 😂 I have all the books and still bring them out to read in a quiet moment. RIP. Murray. You brought joy and laughter to me and my family 💕💕

Sadly have only just heard the news. Footrot Flats was only briefly syndicated in England (more's the pity) but I knew of it first from an aunt in Aussie, who loved the strips. I hope she and Murray have met up 'up topsides.'

Used to catch up with the Comic Strip every day in the Wellington N.Z. "Evening Post", albeit over 40 years ago. Have most of the Footrot Flats books and even a set of placemats featuring the series.

I loved these comics back in 1980. Grade 10 in Australia. Since then I've being gifted with three Border Collies (❤️❤️). I didn't know wtf they were then. And I'm, I DUNNO WHAT, involved with a 20yrs younger Kiwi, Pain In The Arse (how she's stored in my phone) And I turned 57 the other day. I do love her She waddles, fast, like a fucking DUCK. So I also call her Ducky-Wucky She HATES yet loves it.
