You should do a 1st vs last hoover pure power one from 1997 and this one and compare the almost 25 year difference between the two that would be really interesting to see really just how badly the range has gone downhill.

Another very good review, this Hoover is likely to be withdrawn from sale for that misleading wattage rating you discovered. Maybe get one of those "kill-a-watt" wattage testers so you can test actual wattage on future reviews without having to take vacuum's apart and would be interesting to see how accurate claimed ratings are.

I got one for a similar price a while ago as a customer return. Kicked up a stink cause the short hose wasn't included and they refunded me without taking the machine back... Interesting that it isn't included even if you buy direct from Hoover! I did call Hoover's parts line but the short hose is about £30 and that seemed excessive for a £50 vacuum. It copes alright with my medium pile carpet but I like it best for dusting cause it's so quiet. And a decent dusting brush like the Henry one fits just fine. One point - the bags do self-seal if you pull them out by the top, that tab at the bottom pulls a cover over. And they're bloody expensive to buy more of!

Bought one of these last July. Tried to assemble it in early September but when trying to put the handle on through the bag door, i dropped and mislaid one of the screws. Thus I had to leave it in that state up to very recently when i got someone in with a bit of sight (I have a visual impairment,) in to do other jobs, and asked him to have a look at the handle. He managed with another screw, to assemble it. Thus i have only yesterday managed to carry out the rest of the assembly and try the thing. Too right it seems to work but sounds as though it's got a Noddy motor in it. I knew you were going to make a video of this machine, to guide me in setting it up i used the vid you made of you original Enigma. Have just watched this video nearly from start to finish.

Well I for one enjoyed every last second of this funny and delightful video ...not that I'd touch a piece of tripe☆ like that with tongs. But we enjoy you. You is what this is all about, and yes your expertise, but so much fun. I feel sorry for that sad wee Hoover it deserved more love in its creation. 250 watts huh, anxious to know what Hoover's explanation about that would be. "Oh really?" Probably. 🤨😖 (☆ BTW I say "tripe" because it's incapable of the one thing you buy a vacuum for and that's cleaning your carpet. The suction is so weak it leaves an enormous amount of debris in the pile. So it's worthless ...I wonder if Hoover even knows it has a 250 watt motor).

350 watts would be ok for a dirty fan machine as the suction doesn't have far to travel from the motor. But a clean air upright needs to be at least 800 watts to give a decent performance.

I imported my regular enigma to the US as it was the closest I could get to a pure power. I’ve never found a UK seller that is willing to ship me a pure power yet. I have to say if it was as powerful as the more powerful pure powers, I would really enjoy it. Unfortunately it’s so weak that our big thick American carpets actually will bog down the brushroll if you don’t set it high enough that it barely skims the carpet.

My guess on the motor saying 250w but the box stating 350w is they’re likely running it higher than the rating, as the device wont be used for a long period of time it should be fine, the 250w rating is for continuous usage, and is more of a recommendation rather than a rule, but the motor could be run at greater watts if you wished too, although higher ratings would increase overall wear and tear. Nice video though and for the price i think it did okay, although I’d say save up and get something a little more powerful if you can.

Hi Roger, Well it was certainly interesting to see how the PRC have managed to take another reasonably designed machine and completely trash it. Is it worth the £50 price, Well to complete a collection of the range possibly, but as a daily cleaner... Er No. Seeing the motor was interesting, (yes I hung around that long lol) I wonder why they went with such a tiny little single stage fan with a massive adaptor on it to make it fit the body, rather than putting a twin stage of the original size fan on it? it certainly would have more Ooomph with a larger twin stage. Oh wait, doing that would have made the motor just a tiny bit more expensive - answered my own question. I bet Hoover try fobbing you off by saying its actually 350 watts peak power 250 watts nominal power lol. Such a shame to see a world renowned brand go so far down hill.

Unbelievable that the basic design elements still derive from the original Pure Power /Turbopower 2... including the filtration and hose-anti-tip hook, 30 years later and the tools carpet height selection from the Turbopower Total System even older 🤣The parent company obviously not interested in major investment in its, now minor , subsidiary that is Hoover ...and WOW only 300 Watts, a 35 year old design in parts and NO beater bars or pads ?! R.I.P. Hoover.

@alanmatthews2552 жыл бұрын
I have had one for 2 years now and I think its ok. You have missed the point about it as the new rules in the UK have restricted all new vacuum cleaners to 700 watts max so they are having to be a bit more imaginative with their designs. I don't know why yours was covered with dust? My cleaner has been fine, the large bag means it goes on and on plus the filters work very well. It is super quiet in use and our cat is not bothered by it at all. The only major problem it has is with long hair, it wraps itself around the brush bar then manages to wrap around the bearings on the end or the brush bar, gets hot, melts and stinks of burning hair! So you have to service it, remove the brush bar and pick out the hard melted hair in the ends! So if someone in the family has long hair, then forget it, but if not, you have a super quiet, light weight low energy hoover that I find picks everything up fine.
@ibaisaic2 жыл бұрын
The EU rules have been in place a few years now and the regulations currently state that vacuum cleaners should be under 900 watts. You probably have not experienced the British made version of this cleaner that was far superior to this Chinese made effort so you have nothing to compare it to. I’m pleased you’re happy with yours but it’s not a machine I would recommend.
