That was good, I really liked the walking analogy. The golf swing works better the less you "try" to make it happen.

Excellent tip, the transition has become much more simple for me based on this , one of those aha moments, thank you

dan, well done video. short intro. no ego. ill try this later today. the transition is my most difficult thing on all swings. keep up the good work.

This was an awesome tip! Teaching pros nowadays tell you to "fire the hips" or "rotate the shoulders" which was your example of what's wrong with the swing & the worst thing ever told to me by a pro, but unfortunately, I didn't know it at the time. Thanks for such a great tip without all the mumbo jumbo.

4:18 ...that's 90% of the swings on my local range. Likely mine too; it's hard to admit this, harder to change. Thanks for this most excellent lesson. You have a gift for teaching, it's not easy to understand how us amateurs get so confused.

Absolutely the best explanation of the downswing’s start or “trigger.” This method automatically initiates the left knee move that everyone tries to put in to their swing. An easy gravity “fall” is a nice explanation. Kudos, sir. Nicely done! Nicely done ✅

When I swung the best, the falling was the feel. Getting the hips in the proper position at the end of the backswing is key. When they are correct , the falling and the arms flying through was the feel and effortless. Thanks for the vid.

This is the best tip on a comment ive ever seen, never understood getting the hips in PROPER POSITION until your comment once hips are in proper position from top you can just let the club fall and its perfect! Great tip thanks buddy!

I really agree with you, and I don't see many teachers saying this! For me, the transition occurs when my left heel comes back down with weight on it. My experience is that I have to wait for this to happen by feeling that I pause at the top. I have not found any way to make this happen. I think you are saying this.

The swing is a flowing motion, when we try to learn positions is when we get into a jam

I don't want to be a pest, sent a post a day or so ago, you've got it right, the fall of the arms is a description of Ernie else belief of his transfer, I know you'll keep the correct posts, you've never got wrong, from the 64 year old Australian golfer

I dont see you swinging the club to hit the ball. Most of the time you are talking on using the pro. Would like to see you actual swing the club to strike the ball so I can see how you uses the momentum and the correct swing path.

At the top of my swing I feel like my body shifts forward and the rest is automatic. This becomes more important for the longer irons. I don’t really do this with wedges. Thoughts anyone?
@danmartingolf Жыл бұрын
The acceleration of gravity allows us to easily energize our motions. It would be the same for all motions, the more you let go, the more you get out of it assuming no corruption from distal muscles. Since you want more effective distance with the longer clubs, the more you would experience this. It’s in the wedges too, just to a lesser extent.

I like this. Two questions, how do you translate this falling to or from the pro? Two, how do you train your pelvis to move faster 👍😉🏌️♂️.
@danmartingolf3 жыл бұрын
Great question - since the golf club is not symetrical and has a face, we have to make accomodations that are slight manipulations. That being said, if your grip is solid, you shouldn't need to make extreme bowing or flattening moves. That type of movement, however, wouldn't fall into the type of torque I'm generally talking about. That would be axial torque, vs. leverage (crow bar) type of torque. Axial torque to create face squareness doesn't really destroy the natural unfolding of the swing. Thx!

Not sure if you keep up with other online instructors? See "re-centering" concept discussed at length by Athletic Motion Golf (for example "What starts the downswing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJDGn4qap7x8rbc" ) and perhaps with slightly different terminology focusing on pressure plate changes - by Milo Lines (who has also worked with Brendan). This is very effective perspective for you to introduce in conjunction with getting the feel using the Pro (which I bought based on recent pitch from you & Brendan). Your instruction though stresses getting the club up higher in the backswing. Can you do any Pro-compatible instruction/demonstration based on a more abbreviated backswing? Not sure if this is TOTALLY off base suggestion, but I have been experimenting with lightly holding (with finger) the end of the rope connected to the "cushion" (while lightly gripping the grip on other end) and taking a 3/4 backswing releasing the finger as grip begins descent in downswing. _Does that make sense?_ I can't really see if the rope bends (too fast) but it feels interesting...

What they don't say is that you have to wait for this to happen. If you lift your left foot and then set it back down and put weight on it, you have to wait for the weight to be applied, you cannot rush it!

I'd love to see what you are doing with the shorter swing in a video - Maybe you can post to the Swing The PRO Resources on CoachNow? Regardless of the swing length, the physics of the pro can be applied. When using the PRO you get best results with a bigger turn due to the nature of swinging a rope and I definitely emphasize that a lot, because most people simply don't turn their torso enough in the backswing. I'm also a fan of an abbreviated backswing as long as the torso turns a lot while the arms don't travel so far. That tends to be what happens with the more 3/4 look of many, many tour pros. Will definitely put some thoughts into this for upcoming videos!

I think I know how to fall but what is this wokking?
@danmartingolf3 жыл бұрын
The "falling" is the natural way to change directions from the backswing to the forward swing. It gets the pelvis and thorax to go into rotation without trying to muscle through it - which is what most players who struggle do. You don't need to force your hips/chest to rotate, you simply "fall" into an easy rotation which will start the transfer of momentum sequence without undue friction. It's not about working something - it's actually about working less and getting more!
