Good stuff Dan. I have a Pro- it provides amazing feedback for my swing. My new motto: “add no torque.” That includes putting, chipping, irons and driver. And I’m improving rapidly!

Great! I feel what you're talking about when I swing. I swing better when I don't think about rotation. Really like the way you bring science to the golf swing!

I'm going to win a lot of money from my friends this summer with this technique. I've felt the feel of your angular momentum. this feel cannot be felt without swinging the pro. But once felt, it can never be unfelt!!

I can’t tell you how much your videos and The Pro has helped my chipping. I was always trying to “route” the club. Now, I just let it go out toward the ball. Crisp solid contact, high soft shots- very repeatable. Thank you Dan!

I’ve watched a number of your young student’s golf swings you’ve posted on FB. I’m very impressed by how smooth their action is. It’s a unique signature motion that really sets them apart. I can only conclude that it’s a result of your swing philosophy ingrained with repeated use of the Pro.

Older and younger - everyone I work with uses the PRO. I simply do not give lessons without it. The PRO dramatically shortens the learning process when you get rid of "do this - do that" isolated movement training. For anyone willing to learn, the PRO and my related coaching content (public and private) is a journey that will uncover that individual's true swing! It's not a miracle, but it's an effective guide of aligning your body's brilliance for movement in the context of a golf swing. Thanks!

Great stuff Dan! One point I would question though is that the swing is elliptical. I took lessons from Manuel de la Torre for about the last 10 years of his life and he maintained that the swing is in fact circular (although not a perfect circle). He said that many believe it is elliptical because most face-on photos of golf swings are taken from ground level. If the photographer would stand on a step ladder so that his lense was perpendicular to the plane of the swing few people would call the swing an ellipse. He and his brother apparently took many such photos showing the swing to be much more circular than elliptical. Certainly not an important point, just thought you might be interested.

Hi Brian - this might help you find a way to look at the differences in how the golf swing action might be perceived. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qampi42vl7Vjp7M Mr. Rinker demonstrates the different areas on your spine that you can swing around and the sequences that emerge. I perceive Mr. de la Torre's teaching (based on Ernest Jones) to be more 'Upper Core' and potentially more circular than swings that are a bit more lateral - which you could see might be more elliptical. I'm not the last word in this stuff - but there is a lot of interesting work going on in the space..hope this is of some help. all the best!

Does ANYONE really know how it works??? View vids of top 10 youtube coaches and you'll get 7-8 completely diff takes on what and how to power the golf swing. lol That said, your teaching on IMPULSE and angular extension (along with one other lesser known coach I follow) has helped me more than anything else I've used over the past 10 years! When I first started this game, I figured this out on my own having grown up playing tennis and baseball... then I started listening to the "experts" and ruined my swing for years. Thanks for this and everything else you've put out here Dan!

A proper golf swing looks to the average amateur observer completely different to what the proficient player is feeling. Once the motion you describe is understood is probably the biggest turning point for a golfer and I am certain many golfers never actually "get it". Anyway Dan I know you say that the force taking the club head out to the ball should be generated from the core and with mostly passive hands but I feel like there is a fair amount of pressure in the hands to keep hold of the grip by the time he club head is extending out to the release point in a full swing. Do you find your grip gets much firmer as you reach impact or does it stay fairly light the whole time? With your Pro device it feels a little different as the end of the rope is light and the grip can stay much lighter as the pro extends out.
@danmartingolf2 жыл бұрын
The key is to be able to hold the club with the freest wrist & shoulder joints as possible. Some players can do this with a firmer grip pressure, others cannot. It's really a matter of discovering what works for you. The body and brain are very adaptable to the natural forces of a swing and will tend to find the right mix with consistent and focused practice!
@Jokersxsx2 жыл бұрын
Would you say most of this is natural? If you let your hips start the motion I feel like my arms and hands just go for the ride. A real sense of giving up control.

Do you break down your left arm in your actual golf swing? you did it every time in this video.
@danmartingolf2 жыл бұрын
No, but it is never locked at the shoulder joint nor the elbow joint. Many players kill their ability to transfer momentum because they stiffen their joints which blocks any ability to create a free swing. Swinging the PRO, because of the rope, is much easier to understand and perfect when you allow your elbows to bend. Thanks!

What you described will result in a timing issue and inevitably lead to a fade or a slice and/or a draw or a duck hook, and will always happen at the most inopportune time. The true misconception of the golf swing stems from the misinterpretation of one word which is construed in the exact opposite of its meaning. Will I divulge this word? Absolutely not. And I find it extremely funny because everyone, and that means everyone, falls victim to the misconception of the golf swing. There is not one pro that doesn't 'block' it or 'pull hook' it at the most inopportune time and it is due to this misconception ¿`_

These three rounds of golf have to be played with due diligence and a resounding concerted effort, which by definition is 'assiduous play’ and without faltering and maintaining 'procedure' that corrects the misconception of the golf swing and not allowing yourself to fall back on 'old habits' which by definition, is the misconception of the golf swing, you will lower your handicap to single digits and by using three rounds of golf in the "calculation" for a handicap, in comparison to your standing handicap, your golf, comparatively, will be better and will only continue to improve as your handicap will then reflect after continuous rounds of play, that this "system" of "followed procedure" is guaranteed to work.
