Geoff Castaluchi (Voiceplay) Avi Kaplan (Pentatonix) Tim Foust (Home Free) Three bass kings, with equal good bass voices, but they can't be compared, because they have different trember and different song styles. Geoff has a broad and wide bass Avi has a soft velvet bass Tim is famous of his growl notes Voceplay are most theatrical Pentatonix are most pop Home Free are country based So no comparisson. They are equal good, but are also way different from eachother :)

I appreciate that you don't do what most people do, and try to say whoever can hit the lowest note is the better one. I'm sure it varies by day and other factors on what note each can hit. Plus that is only one aspect of them

I personally prefere Tim, but it's because I listen to Home Free (all of their music), and only to some song of PTX and VP. But that is a personal preference, not because he is better than Geoff or Avi :)

We're VoicePlayers, obviously :) They have now put out Friends On The Other Side, which is a lot of fun. They don't always add the theatrical element to their videos but it's so much fun when they do. You think that was low? He can go lower. Really :) What else? Anything they've done. Try Hoist The Colours, Warriors, and for a complete change, Tennessee Whisky or Can't Help Falling In Love. It's all good.

VoicePlay is in a class by themselves. They don't follow any of the standard "rules" - they play for the quality of the music and the entertainment value. They're based in Orlando, and all of them worked for Disney and/or Universal - they've got a strong theater and entertainment focus. But MUSICALLY? To me, they're the best. Their creativity just knocks me out. Kidnap the Santa Claus is the prequel to this one: completely different and incredible.

I just love it when reactors comment on how low Goeff goes right before he really hits a bass drop. I always think "oh, just buckle up sweetie"! LOL It was shocking to me too the first time I heard him and it wasn't even a subharmonic note. He's insanely talented with his voice and sounds so smooth. He still calls himself a baritone with bass tendencies. *smh In this year's Halloween song they do Friends On the Other Side from Princess and the Frog. Geoff and the beatboxer Layne just break the chains in the last minute of this. You'll literally forget there are NO instruments. It's awesome!

Love the reaction. Voiceplay are the kings of Halloween, but pretty much everything they do is fantastic. Hoist the Colours is in keeping with Halloween and will absolutely blow your mind. Warriors and the halo theme are less spooky but will also blow your mind. Welcome to the rabbit hole

It's so much fun to see someone react to Voiceplay for the first time, you were great! Loved the reaction. One of their most recent and best is Hoist the Colours which was at the beginning of Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Also try Warriors, Carry On Wayward Son and Can't Help Falling in Love. You will see some changes in the singers, they had two members leave in the last 18 months, one for personal reasons and one to join the Navy. 'Santa' isn't part of the group, he's actually Geoff's neighbor in real life. I love it when the groups use people from their lives in their videos ... Geoff did another one I think you'd love -- Monster Mash. He's done several really good ones apart from VP as a group (just like Tim Foust, Austin Brown and Rob have from Home Free). You're absolutely right -- in Acapella, there's nowhere to 'hide' if you aren't EXTREMELY talented, or if you don't have perfect pitch. I'm a dedicated Home Fry, but I truly enjoy watching VP, and even Pentatonix at times. You can't really compare the 3 groups -- to me, it's like comparing apples, oranges and strawberries. When you're craving an apple, an orange just doesn't take its place, and so on. They're all good, it just depends on what 'flavor' you're wanting to experience at that moment :)

The final note? It's pretty dang close to the end of the keyboard- that was a subharmonic E1! Geoff Castellucci, VoicePlay's bass, has around a 5 octave range; that's not even his lowest note. VoicePlay is known as the theater kids of a cappella; they always put a lot into their videos, and they do all the video work (lighting, directing, editing) themselves. They also create their own arrangements- Geoff and Layne Stein, the vocal percussionist- being the two who generally do the arranging. This particular piece was one of Layne's arrangements- according to Geoff, Layne loves to push the limits of his voice's abilities. Of course, Geoff has yet to let us down, so I guess they're doing something right! You'll always find something innovative and unexpected in VoicePlay's performances; it's part of what I really like about them. They always surprise you.

Lock Shock and Barrel. They got the character voices down pat. VoicePlay members have all worked for Disney, Universal or any of the other Orlando theme parks. They cut their teeth on the effect on the audiences when doing performances. Geoff has gotten all the way to the end of the piano. Despite Nightmare Before Christmas being my favourite movie as a kid (but I can't do horror movies either, lol) I did have occasional nightmares about Oogie Boogie until I was 29 (when this cover came out) and then all of a sudden it was like "Wait. Oogie Boogie is...kinda hot now? How the hell did this happen?" and it's been 2 years and I'm till trying to process it 😂.

Welcome to the second of the holy Trinity. Pentatonix. Voiceplay. Home Free. This trio of acapella groups have completely rearranged what mainstream acapella music is. Before Pentatonix and Voiceplay competed in 2004 the world believed acapella music to be the barbershop quartets of the world. Choirs and old churches, men and women singing in harmony. Understand there have been groups doing this before that, but no one recognized it. And then came Pentatonix. Voiceplay was not as important because the competition they were in deliberately removed the part that voiceplay is the best at. It was a singing competition with very little additional on drama. But people heard the new acapella and they loved it. Pentatonix won a recording contract but the contract was canceled within 9 months because the agency wanted them to sing more conventional acapella. Which was exactly what all of their competitors had done and lost. Instead Pentatonix started posting videos on their KZbin channel. Since that time they have won three Grammys. Home Free has performed for Nashville music awards. And Voiceplay has been invited to perform for Disney universal and other major theater companies. That was an E1 at the end. In the lowest octave on a piano. He hits a B0 in their cover of the Halo theme which is 1 note away from the end of what a piano can play. At some point he's going to hit a note in the -1 octave I'm sure.

You must watch the Monster Mash. The low base singer Geoff Castellucci from the group Voice Play does it as only as he can & he plays & sings all four parts. He does a lot more solos where he sings all four parts.

Yeah, Geoff's range is impressive; I think he may have the best low-end of currently active basso profondo singers. Another singer with an impressive range is Mitch Grassi, of Pentatonix. His range goes all the way up into the ledger lines above the treble cleff and beyond. He apparently _can_ hit notes in octave 1 as well (though not as low as Geoff) as demonstrated in some goofing-around-during-down-time footage found in a couple of the behind-the-scenes videos, but in practice he almost never sings below about C3 or so in performance; I don't know whether it's because he's uncomfortable singing that low or unable to do it reliably, or simply because he's more valuable as a countertenor. The highest note he can sing is said to be F7, which is mind-bogglingly high.

Just a little tip, when you want to rewind a KZbin video, the left button on your keyboard moves the video back 5 seconds. Also, the Santa Claus is played by Geoff Castellucci's brother-in-law. And his last note is an E1. Geoff is great with the subharmonics and he also does some solo projects. You should check out his cover of the Headless Horseman and most recently, his cover of The Monster Mash.
