Believe it or not, I cut out lots of yapping lol. But I WILL add here that another benefit of much higher team diversity for with Hybrid Raiden is being able to take advantage of her refunding energy to more teammates. Her limited teams on a normal build means she has more limited supportive utility for energy refunding, so with the hybrid build I have weird cases like where she can refund a bit of energy for Navia, which may let you spec Navia more into other damage stats.

I use hybrid raiden with the catch and personally it still works even if not as great as with SoTSS :D (I use her with nahida and baizhu)

If you happen to have really good artifact options its still possible to maaaybe make it work, but usually you just end up sacrificing too much talent damage for your transformative reaction damage, or vice versa. As another comment mentioned, you can try the Catch, and then you just need to slightly lose your sanity for getting the right artifacts! Feel free to use the damage calculator linked in the description to check how it would look for you, because maybe on your account it could still be doable

Mine is on Ballad of the Fjords (the new BP polearm) that gives a 24% C. Rate substat and a whopping 240 EM at R5 from the passive, so I balance her build with an ER Sands and an ATK Goblet and she performs just fine.

Haha yeah, and I never really got meaningful value from her in the first place, hence why I went down this path. Theres plenty of options for electro units in the game at this point though, so Raiden definitely isnt a super strong unit on her own right, even with this build. She just has far higher potential to synergize with many teams to make overall strong team damage output. So now its kinda Raiden that invalidates wanting other electro units because she is so universal! (Which is a good problem to have imo)

Hybrid raiden is genuinely such a fun build, its certainly the one big upside to me going to hard pity for dehya's weapon on its first run

A hyper-hyper specific and high investment build for raiden i run is Skyward Spine 4pc Thundering Fury double EM raiden and Broken Pines Noblesse C2 chongyun, because raiden's initial skill hit and her coordinated attacks have seperate icd, she doesn't get hitstop so she maximizes attack speed, and can occasionally push the envolope on getting extra aggravates in her rotation with her normal attacks. furthermore, her having above average* (8th highest) 5 star base attack, a second highest tier base attack weapon, a ton of damage % baked into her kit, and a ton of em in her artifacts, means that the noblesse and broken pines attack% gives her an insane boost to her output similar to shred on an enemy for most builds. when you add inherited EM to the mix and how it interacts with the 20% bonus to your em value (circumventing diminishing returns, not that you actually reach that point unless your insane enough with god rolls to run 3 em pieces) and the aforementioned icd fuckery between attack speed and skill recasts, and its a build that literally never suffers when gaining stats insofar as their actual value. It almost justifies Chongyun existing, but only because of broken pines and his c2 allowing for thundering fury to get better value lmfao. it also gives the benefit that if you have a unit that continuously inflicts dendro ala turrets, you can slightly prolong your rotation between waves because her damage is evenly distributed. its not necessarily a good build, and is not justifiable compared to Staff of Scarlet Sands, but its incredibly engaging to play and the only way i like my raiden, as i find her far too jank otherwise. it is the only practical use i've found for broken pines that's worth it beyond putting it on dehya for team buffing with tenacity. It's unfortunate that it's substat is phys% and it's sigils don't spawn with bad latency due to the cooldown between sigils, but i've coped haha. corrections: she does have hit stop, but its low and extends her burst duration proportionally for some reason making it mostly inconsequential. it's why dash cancels can be especially awful on her if you don't have significant movement speed and attack speed buffs on her, cause your actually losing burst duration. very strange stuff. her max burst duration is actually 9 seconds and not 7 as a result. its also why her charged attack is sometimes a dps loss, due to the delay being missed out extra burst frames. oh yeah, chongyun provides a pitiful extra 8% attack speed in his A2 passive, too. another part of the reason he is the vehicle for broken pines, which combined with skyward spine adds up to an extra 32%. not *too* shabby, shame its not an auspicious 33.

a reoccuring issue of mine; my latency is so awful that i can't demonstrate the builds i describe to you due to basic game mechanics not working consistently. by the way great video spreading the word (i loathe raiden otherwise. burst dependent with coordinated attack limitations, and a burst designed to refund that doesn't actually refund its high cost if it kills in one hit, which it is partially designed to kill in one hit, whilst also demanding field time for the refund otherwise, is too many restrictions for me). the timeline where i waited for yae is surely the better one.

Something about raiden that i feel like is so valuable is how quickly she can battery other characters to get all the bursts back up and ready. My current favorite team is raiden, nahida, baizhu, and furina. They all work well together, and it clears abyss quite easily, getting me 36 stars regularly.

Definitely pulling SoSS next time it runs. For now my recently obtained Raiden is probably sticking to Furina and Chevreuse teams, which i'be been having a lot of fun with! I got key on Furina so I can kinda immate hydrid Raiden by using an PJWS+ EM goblet and stacking instructor buff, key buff and Nahida burst. Not hybrid Raiden related but Raiden/Deyha double DPS with Chevreuse and Fischl has also been incredibly fun.

You actually inspired my own Raiden build back when you first started talking about hybrid Raiden. The thing is, I have C2 Raiden and for a while I planned to give her a normal build but I started playing Genshin a patch before Sumeru came out so I never really farmed that much Emblem because I was busy doing dendro stuff and my Raiden also ended up with the hyperbloom build. Now because my favorite character is Scara, I camped in his domain and got 3 gazillion fopl pieces that I use on all my bloom characters and quite a few of them rolled crit substats (unlike my Scara pieces... typical) So I put those crit pieces on my Raiden. She is definitely more focused on hyperbloom than yours since she uses the fopl set but at least it makes me feel less like I wasted her C2 (I mean I still did but... I won't think about it so much now.)

Yes it's till very relevant. She can even use Gilded. Mine has has around 400 (550 when the effect is active) EM with 210 ER and 77/178 on Gilded instead of Emblem. On full team with Furina, Nahida, and Baizhu TToDS, around 2800 atk and 800 EM

@@Solunerra it's a real pain to build honestly. I just got lucky bcs it turns out my Cyno build can be transferred to her, just need to replace the sands with ER. Very worth it though. I like reaction teams, but her damage in overload Chevreuse is also still very good by itself (around 28k charge attacks with 16k overload). Now I never change her hyper carry build back.

It's not as sexy as the hyper carry style version but its certainly the most logical way to run her for maximum usefulness. Recharging your teams bursts while dealing a good amount of personal damage while also triggering almost full EM levels of hyperbloom... yeh, its good.

I have been trying to rebuild her with the Hybrid build for the past 6 months. It has been annoying because I have using the strongbox because I needed to build other characters. I forgot how annoying EM Main stat is to get on pieces in general. Although I have gotten a decent EM Sands and that rolled well. No Goblet has shown up but I got a Circlet with 14% CR. I kinda wanna go to the Emblem domain at this point but I wanna have at least 1 set each of the new artifact before I go

Yeah I got my EM timepiece, goblet, and circlet from strongbox (goblet was the most recent lucky piece for sure, and is obviously the biggest pain point). But at least crit rate isnt the most vital substat with so much crit rate from SoSS itself. I may still try to get minor improvements with the elixirs over time too, though that is mostly unnecessary now

On another note I wanted to make the Sands this patch for her but found out you can only make 1 piece for each set. I think they really need to change that I don't understand why they made that restriction!

No sumeru or fontaine character managed to dethrone Raiden as my most used character, but they did give her a bunch more valid teams (basically all of which I like more than her OG team). Curious to see how Natlan will fare. With the change to weapon banner, I actually might get the staff at some point. it would be a nice upgrade and a convenience QoL pull for me at this point.

As an owner of Raiden and Engulfing Lightning myself I enjoy using her Eiternational team for a long time the turning point to this "hybrid" build is I want to improve taht team more. Her full EM Hyperbloom bot build is really sad because as she can't really use her burst and the best part about her burst is 7 seconds of infinite poise (Untill I got one-shot by Hydro Tulpa in 4.1). And if she's running Engulfing + Bennett she overshot her attack by a long way, so I build more ER to use Xiangling burst more reliably, but it wasn't enough my Xiangling still need a little more energy. 1 funnel just wasn't enough, so I go with EM. Surprisingly it does seem to improve quite a lot because my raiden used to have 0 EM and now it's around 200 also it wasn't half bad in quickbloom team either so I never had to switch Artifact out, Neat! If I do get Staff of scarlet Sands I could probably try this put and Xiangling will inherit this spear (although I do have Staff of Homa lying around...)

That last part of the comment is a bit of a weird stance to take on her actions. Sure, it’s understandable why she’d take the course of action she did because of her mental state, that doesn’t make it right though. She completely disregarded her citizens and oppressed them for a long time. Even after all the strife she caused to Inazuma, she makes no attempt to explain it to her citizens nor make it up to them and basically suffers zero consequences. Grief is something that makes us lose sight of who we are, and do things we wouldn’t normally do, that’s normal, but we shouldn’t wallow in grief. The longer we stay grieving, the more we become less of ourselves, causing us to do things that are harmful to ourselves and those around us, and that’s just not healthy. Raiden’s character shows how NOT to deal with grief (pushing away everyone and stagnating out of fear of change). Her attempts at emulating eternity are ultimately futile because the only eternal thing in life is change.

This left her not only alone, but with the responsibilities of the archon. How did she handle this? She created a puppet that would run the nation on autopilot, sustaining eternity while she stayed in the plane of Euthymia… She didn’t really tackle the responsibility left to her, she left it to a robot and tried to avoid confronting it, which is what caused things to get as bad as they did. She didn’t attempt to reach out to Yae Miko, one of her friends that was still alive and willing to help. It goes back to what I said about grief, she never got over her grief and as such she kept herself hidden in the plane of Euthymia all that time. She never sought help even though some was available, making overcoming her grief all the more difficult. If she had processed and overcome the grief in a healthy manner, she would’ve been able to look back on the decisions she made with a clear mind, allowing her to make up for her mistakes. But because she never accepted and confronted her loss, she never ended up realizing how her mental state affected her actions. As important as I think encouragement is during a low point in someone’s life, it’s also important that we don’t end up being content with doing less than we know we can. If we keep telling ourselves we’re doing the best we can without trying to improve on anything, we can end up stagnating without even realizing, which leads to the situation Raiden found herself in. We have to be honest with ourselves about what we can do about a situation. If we really can’t do anything by ourselves, then we seek help from someone. Giving up is never the right answer and we have to push hard to keep on growing

This video was about hybrid raiden, not Hyper. Hypercarry Raiden is basically just Raiden/Sara C6/Benny/Kazuha, aka making all of the team dmg focused around buffing one unit primarily. Pre C2 this will not be a very good team for Raiden (but maybe possible to clear depending on the overalls state of your account, and can be fun because big number) because it relies on her raw multiplier damage, which just isnt that high at a baseline. But if you have the units for it feel free to try it! You can feel out how it olays before investing in Sara C6

You'd probably be better off with fischl, Raiden skill damage is pretty bad she's only used in hyperbloom because it doesn't rely in the damage of the skill itself.

I have, its mostly a fun option to occasionally see really big aggravates from her skill, but imo its more of a meme use case. I find things like Tenacity on her to be more compelling on occasion, to the point Id kinda like to try a hybrid build on Tenacity at some point but that would require I strongbox a lot of Tenacity

Ofc. C2 increases personal DMG alot while still keeping reaction DMG as well (assuming you use SS) Should in theory do more DMG than you saw in this vid. The question is: can you justify having engulfing lightning and NOT using it on Raiden? What about the drip? What about her feelings?

I think ballad of the Fjords R5 would also work ... but you'll loose the attack buff and a little bit of crit rate ... you checked the R1 but not R5

R5 barely improves her talent damage and is basically just an improvement for bloom damage, because the increased EM is only relevant for when she triggers aggravates. Its probably the best 4 star weapon option still, but we are talking a situation of instead of it being 80% worse than SoSS it is 60% worse, which is a huge difference still. imo I dont think thats worthwhile to buy the BP just for that, and other BP weapons likely have higher value to select for most players.

Depends on your artifacts but I'd only use dragons bane for hyperbloom teams. If you have good crit artifacts or craft a crit circlet then probably catch for carry.

So if you are trying hybrid Raiden then don't if you don't have scarlet sands. Just do pure Hyperbloom or DPS. For Hyperbloom Dragons bane is really good and for DPS Jade spear is your best option.

I mean Ive used Candace a lot in the past on Polearms Only. Candace/Raiden/Yaoyao was able to clear many an abyss cycle (it just took nightmarish optimizing in some harder abyss cycles, particularly as a side effect of it being a very weird hyperbloom team which had its strength shine in AoE rather than single target, but Yaoyaos rng targeting and need to optimize hydro application from Candace’s infusion made it very inconsistent lol. But maybe I will make another video about Candace, we shall see

Raiden hyper (the first team) would probably struggle without C2, but it may depend on how good your team/clear is for the other abyss side. For non abyss content it struggles with needing to burst on Raiden to do anything other than Kazuha swirl damage lol. The chevreuse team should, even without C4 XL, is probably still better imo. I significantly prefer teams that diversify their damage profile between multiple units when playing Raiden, but having used a non C4 xiangling she does feel much worse without.

Unfortunately yes (imo). But its not impossible to get this weapon as f2p. It means you may be sacrificing getting a weapon in favor of a character, yes, but that may be worthwhile if you really like Raiden. But if you always prefer playing around with new units rather than doing higher investment things on characters you currently have, then it can just be a cool thing that exists as an option! I dont consider it fundamentally different than knowing someone else has a character you dont have. Doesnt mean you necessarily NEED to pull that character, but it may be worth considering spending your wishes for the gameplay that character enables. The weapon enables new teams/playstyles for Raiden such that I think is worth getting potentially, but only if you like the idea of using Raiden this way.

I did make a video about it last year lol, but honestly I think it hasnt caught on because quite frankly a large portion of the discourse around Raiden is too centered around her C2 for high investment build paths. It probably would be more popular if there was a compelling way to achieve this without a five star weapon as well, of course, so all I can do is make my video about it and talk about it during my streams or whatever. I may try to convince Zajeff to pull the weapon though, which may popularize the idea if I succeed.

I made a 45 minute video about Hybrid Raiden that was more focused around showing different teams in the past. In this video I wanted to show low investment, higher investment, normal Raiden teams that still work with the build, and weird dual DPS teams that work. What else would you want me to show? Yes, I couldve shown 500 different sub variants of different teams and dug into the nuances of individual teams, but thats outside the scope of a video trying to just illustrate the general functionality in different team formats. I showed electro charged, overload, and bloom team variants in opposing ends of the spectrum investment wise. Did you want me to show Eula too? Because that also works lol. If you have a specific team idea you'd like me to try feel free to join my livestreams where Im just doing whatever and I may be able to test something.

He means as an overall team damage and team flexibility. If you just want Raiden herself to do the most damage and play her on like the 3 good teams she can even be played in then yeah C2 is better. He evaluates it more holistically from an account perspective and you seem to have failed to understand that.

You missed the entire point of the video I guess. I said its better as far choosing a path for a higher investment Raiden goes, Scarlet Sands for a hybrid build that enables her to be used in far many more teams. Which I think is better because I think it is far more valuable to be able to use a character in different ways, especially since it is cheaper to get SoSS than it is C2 (from C0 youd need to plan about 130 wishes for the weapon vs 300 for C2). I did not say it made her do more damage. I said it is better because I think caring about more than big number is far more relevant. "Better" is not just a math term. If all you like is big number, you are free to feel C2 makes more sense for you personally (Hoyoverse would certainly prefer you feel that way too for the $$$). I'm just providing my perspective on things I have done that let's me enjoy the game more, and doing a build like this with this weapon has enabled me to have far more fun actually playing the game compared to how I've mostly regretted the times I have gotten baited by big number better.

That being said, if you like Raiden enough to play her in "sub-optimal" teams, I would think you care enough to get C2 after a couple reruns. For the average player who has C0 Raiden and a spare SoSS laying around, this can be a fun way to play her. But you didnt show a single team in this video that I couldn't play my C2 Raiden in with better results

And I showed what I did this video because of how her C6 is a bit overrated in some contexts (like for normal Raiden play if you burst immediately you get no dmg bonus). I used Chev pre-C6 for 8 months, and she was still amazing. C6 is obviously nice but also unnecessary
