I love the simplicity of watching Bond and Q (his other mentor) drinking coffee together in a fairly quiet moment. It shows that while their relationship may be comical in nature, they still have time for simple cordiality and professionalism in their downtime.

For Your Eyes Only is one of my favorite Bond films, because it doesn't involve some crazy plot involving world domination, etc. It's actually a pretty convention spy story where the villain was the KGB. They couldn't make a movie like this today, because (obviously) the USSR is history, and Hollywood doesn't make anything that would potentially get banned from China, so that rules out them as the bad guy.
@R2Parmly3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I like almost all the Bond movies and I think the franchise wouldn't be the same without the save-the-world ones, but my favorite are always the ones that get a bit more small scale and close to real espionage. From Russia With Love, For Your Eyes Only, both Dalton ones. Arguably even Casino Royale, since for all the glamor in the end it's just about catching one underworld banker.

It is the The Spy Who Loved Me theme. The Janitor in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service whistled part of Goldfinger theme as Bond and Draco’ s men walked by as another reference to the series. For Your Eyes Only gave a few references to Bonds past and the films like in the beginning with Bond visiting his wife’s grave. For Your Eyes Only gave a reference to Bernard Lee (M) who had passed away before filming began and give that he is on holiday and left the character out altogether as a tribute to Lee by not recasting the role until Octopussy when Robert Brown took over as M.

I noticed all of the stuff being tested in the background in most Bond Movies are pretty lethal and straight forward murder machines. Here we see an arm cast a random person could be wearing next to a target that will deliver a deadly blow while on the subway or sitting on a bench, or for a less direct approach, we also see an umbrella that is rigged to kill a target that could be covertly swapped with his own and take him out next time he uses it when it rains. It's like the majority of MI6's missions are for assassinations.

007 seems to know exactly which of the unlabeled tape reels on that rack are the "Identograph" program. Then apparently the program is ready a couple seconds after the tape is just dropped into the machine. No loading. Dam those Brit computer whizzes were good! Is the Red Light to help them see the screens or US not to see the special effects doing the graphics? Plus, when Sharon walks in, the rest of the lab is now in Red light as well. ? At 1:48 Q has supposedly just entered enough parameters to get the head shape and hair selected, but on his screen the program is still at "Awaiting Your Command" like it was when it first started. Then at 2:25 Sharon comes in with some coffee and the entire lab is deserted behind them and Q says "You can go, I'll lock up". They have only been in there just over a minute. Did 007 show up RIGHT at closing time? Is Sharon brown-nosing for a promotion staying late and making coffee? 4:00 007 shows up alone... with 2 sets of skis. Although off camera at the time, that ski rack looks like the skis would be scraping the roof when the guy was getting his bags out of the back.

This scene could have been excised, they wanted to show off then “cool” tech. Rather dull.

technically this is not a Q Briefing it is a crime scene analysis. 007 photographed a killer at a party and Q had to help him decode it using a device called an Identagraph. how it works is data is stored on microfilm (today with the updated version is stored on the web) and it is taken from 2,000 databases INTERPOL, the FBI, KGB, CIA, German Police, you name it if they are wanted in one area they are wanted in all. the Identagraph takes data you put in like hair, eyes, glasses, nose, mouth, teeth, you name it once it is in the computer the Identagraph will look in the database until a match is found. When the match is found that guys wanted poster from INTERPOL is placed on the screen and a RED NOTICE is posted. sounds like science fiction I don't think so since For Your Eyes Only came out we have ways to nail killers.

Aaron Peavler/Geomodelrailroader Railroad Photography This film came out in 1981, I'm pretty sure that in today's world, a more hi tech equivalent of the Indentigraph technology is used. Wouldn't surprise me if the FBI's most wanted list is now stored in a computer database, and can be called up with the right information.

JCBro2014 yes should know they crime base data called NCIC, Interpol or other data bases to help look up criminals. Now Police Officers can bring up a criminal on their cell phones to a witness or still use a picture. When the suspect is arrested their fingerprints are put in digitally and kept in database along with a picture to make it so can identify someone quickly. Even police officers can look a criminal on Facebook or other social media if they post their activities as some can be stupid and post criminal activity or post a weapon they used and can get back to law enforcement as a way to arrest a criminal. Criminal records are posted online and photos to
