Bastion's direct counter is no longer Genji, it's Sombra. Sneak behind which is easy because it's slow, hack= goodbye ironclad/healing, shoot, Bastion's model is so big it takes max damage from Sombra's weapon. As for Genji?....I don't know. He's in a weird spot. Maybe he'll get looked at if he drops off from these new changes.

Remember folks: Bastion's healing is only good for four seconds, during which he can't attack, plus there's that weak spot on his back. I think tankiness is exactly what you need when you're a huge, immobile target, especially one that's supposed to be a defender. The only thing I'd change is maybe make hits to the weak spot circumvent Ironclad, but as for everything else, I think these changes are great.

I don't play Bastion but I have perspective and I can see that downsides and upsides of the hero, unlike you. If doing damage is all that counts here then Reaper must be a top tier pick for you because he does the most damage when in the enemy's face while also having mobility and a pretty powerful ult but he isn't a top tier pick because damage is not really what wins games. Bastion does damage at close range while immobile but he is also pretty tanky for 4 seconds while being unable to attack, when his heal is out of resources then he isn't so tanky. While in recon mode he has more range but ZERO utility to the team. The moment 2 people go after you in turret mode you are fucked because even though you can heal some of the damage you are completely defenseles while doing so and will die the moment that heal stops. Everything I wrote was factual, go ahead and respond with your childish ad hominem and your slang.

One thing people don't realize: this is a huge Sombra buff, as her hack (and EMP) force Bastion into Recon mode and while Recon is stronger on the PTR, that'll take away both his heal and his ability to go back into Sentry mode for six seconds, which, if you're coordinating with your team (and as Sombra you have to be to get value out of her) means Bastion is much less of a problem.

The main thing I think some people aren't taking into account is the idea of if you fight Bastion 1v1 whereas if you overwhelm a Bastion player with multiple players, he can still go down, especially if the player uses the time to heal itself rather than unloading bullets.

It may seem that way because he is overbuffed at the moment. However alot of the changes they are making are good, increasing the ability of recon mode but requiring greater accuracy, while increasing survivability of turret mode but lowering damage output. Currently the problem is in low teir he wrecks by putting out so much damage even at range, but dies incredibly easily once anyone sees him and focuses him down making him weak in higher tiers. If they find the right balance they will have at least somewhat fixed both problems

I have never seen Sombra serve as a real counter to anything, including Bastion. I guess she could be considered a very soft counter to flankers when the enemy team lacks proper healing but that's about it since her health pack hacking can actually make a real difference then.

Melting Sky she's an excellent Bastion, Genji amd rienhardt counter. Her hack let's you disable their best survival features. She's also good for letting your team swarm a high mobility Flanker like Tracer or winston.

Great suggestion was to boost health in sentry and tank mode, instead of damage reduction. It nerfs the healing on him slightly and generates more ult charge for your opponents. Keeps him a bit more balance while still being very good.

this happens because of the combination of armor static damage reduction (5) and ironc-clad percentage-based reduction. It seems that *the first one applied is the multiplicative one, hence indirectly buffing what the armor static reduction does* . Take Torbjörn's turret for instance: 14 dmg becomes 9-ish with the iron-clad reduction, then 4.5-ish with the armor reduction.

Desmond Leake Sorry, but duh? Reinhardt has some hard counters. Pretty sure a Mei will be able to shut down a Bastion in turret form, as she can reduce his turnspeed to be lower than the strafe speed of Mei. Then there is Sombra, who can completely shutdown the self-healing. Then there is Ana, who can do the same thing. Bastion has some counters, just like Rein. But more often than not, it requires teamwork to take Reinhardt down. A Phara will get shot out of the sky, and Junkrats damage can be easilly healed off by Ana or Mercy. I don't see the point you are trying to make.

Thing is that Mei's cryostasis, Reaper's wraith form, and Roadhog self heal, all have a timer that makes them least for a set amount of time and a cooldown, so you somewhat have to play smart to not waste those. Bastion's heal does not have a timer and now can be used while moving, so basically rewards you for sitting on your turret form bumbum and hold down the E button.

Well, if you think about it, if he heals while being shot, you can sorta think about it as blocking damage (in a sense). So in practice it is somewhat similar to D.va and her shield. Neither can attack while doing it, both protect from damage, both use a resource bar. Only D.va is much faster, can fly, and her protection works whether she is stationary or not. So i don't think this'll be overpowered, at most it'll be a temporary protection for Bastion before he's overwhelmed.

OopsRuMad You seem to lack the microscopic amount of intelligence you claim is required to understand the meta. Recon damage is more or less equivalent to Soldier 76 rifle damage at this point (Soldier has an edge, bit so small of one that the time difference to kill a Primal Rage Winston between the two of them is tiny). Bear in mind he has 100 more armor than Soldier, the ability to heal while moving, and a far superior self-heal overall. The only thing Bastion lacks is rockets (and sprint, but moving healing acts as an effective mobility increase). Then, the fun part. Bastion still has the highest damage in the game barring some ultimates such as Roadhog's while in Sentry Mode (which is not an ult). On top of this, he can only be killed by a full Dragonstrike, a full point blank Reaper clip, RIP TIRE, Self-Destruct, Rocket Barrage, Whole Hog, or Deadeye. That's it. That also assumes you are completely without help from your team. This should not exist.

Some notable things that RoadHog can survive if he heals during the damage in Any Mode: Reaper's entire ultimate. Reaper's entire 8 shot clip (if Bastion makes sure to heal slightly before he shoots, to keep his health in armor). Pharah's entire rocket clip. Torbjorn's Level 2 Turret can NEVER kill Bastion in Sentry mode. (He can literally tank it forever and never die by healing periodically. Tanked it for an entire minute and was at full 300 HP at the end.) Torbjorn's Molten Core Turret (until healing runs out, at which point Bastion can turn and kill it). Symmetra's laser does literally zero damage until healing runs out. 6 Symmetra turrets. Genji's entire ultimate from start to finish if Genji only attacks Bastion (he only loses about a third HP). Soldier's entire clip + rockets. Tracer's bullets can literally be tanked forever until healing runs out. Tracer's ultimate. McCree's ultimate, if he fires it right as the circle disappears (leaves Bastion with 60HP). Zarya at 100 charge firing her entire laser clip. Junkrat's entire clip.

You could argue this is a team game that requires cooperation, bit remember Bastion also has a team. And no, sneaking on a Bastion doesn't work. He can heal through a clip and bomb from Tracer still, enough Reaper shots to turn around and kill Reaper before Reaper has a chance, heap through Junkie grenades and a mine, etc. So, no, this doesn't work either.

Well, Sombra does less damage than Recon Bastion (who is comparable to Soldier:76), so she loses the fight against Bastion after he's been hacked. Roadhog is a different story, but being able to move and heal freely means that Bastion can usually escape from Roadhog. Ana had absolutely no hope of killing a Bastion, as Grenade and all 8 shots doesn't do a whole lot to him. This means you need to outnumber a Bastion to kill him which, in turn, means that you are losing the main team fight because you sent 2 or more people to fight 1. There is no winning here.

The decreased damage means decreased ult charge: Mei's shift heals her and makes her invulnerable for *JUST A FEW SECONDS*, and she can't deal damage in that form. Reaper's shift is a similar case, as he is invulnerable but disabled for a few seconds. Roadhog's E heals 300 health, but he is completely vulnerable and cannot move, *NOT TO MENTION* that if anyone sees him, he feeds like 30% ult charge. With Bastion, though, everything will be 35% less. It's not like increasing the HP, where healing and damage have the same value. With this, damage on Bastion has less value and healing has greater value. Bastion can take more damage per 25 health while transformed than any other character in the game. Say I get a direct hit with a soldier missile on Bastion and one on Roadhog. Bastion's health bar goes down to around 220, but Roadhog's goes down to 480. Here's the trick: Bastion's damage reduction only applies to *damage*, *not* to healing, so if we heal both Roadhog and Bastion at 20 HP/s, Bastion will be healed 2 seconds faster than Roadhog. Bastion even has a self-heal to accompany the decreased damage. What this does is it fucks up the whole damage economy. This is like increasing healing on bastion by 35% while also making him harder to kill. If Jeff wants Bastion to be more tanky, he should give him more health, not fuck up the damage system.

. That is a logical issue, though. You are saying that Bastion is so powerful that you are required to gang up on him to stand a chance. Also. if you have 2 people fight Bastion, you are now losing the main team fight 4 v 5 since you sent two people to kill one dps. In other words, even if he loses, he is mathematically above the power curve. Oh, and one of the people you send must be an Ana, Roadhog, Reinhardt, or Sombra. If you send anyone else, Bastion will eviscerate both of you while barely taking a scratch. You are required to take him out of turret form before dealing with him unless you use a Deadeye or something, since he will generally be able to survive long ebough to gun you guys down. Also, no, Flashbang and Freeze do not work.

Basically, the game developers want the bastion to survive when the player is not actively in an offensive stance. The bastion is still very very dead when faced with more than one attacker and not even when the attackers engage at the same time. If you can supplement a fellow attacker with some of you own offense the bastion will still go down very quickly which is what the developers wanted. They want cooperative play and they prefer for players who are not directly attacking to last longer when out of combat. Also if you notice, if you can make the bastion change modes or position then the extra healing attribute is removed which makes him too weak when in a non-attack mode.

That heal does seem reasonably powerful, but he's still a stationary target. I suspect higher skill teams will simply be able to focus fire him and his heal won't keep up. But beyond the doom and gloom prediction at least this could make him useful in certain situations, possibly good at defending the final point on payload maps? Will have to wait and see, but i wouldn't be surprised if he got another buff before going live.

With this increase to bastion's capabilities and abilities cause sombra to have a rise in use. I say this because bastion is a carry hero that can have a comp built around him but he will primarily rely on his abilities. I remember there was one video discussing counters for New D.Va, pre-armor nerf. They deduced that 1v1, there were about only 2 or 3 hard counters, so people thought D.Va was too strong. However, we aren't playing asymmetrical 1v1. In fact, because her defense is reliant on a vision cone, she's actually very weak against multiple players when they have free reign of their positioning or if they time their burst damage properly. I'm truly curious if D.Va 2.1 was actually too good. Blizzard has the data, but I personally believe it was too harsh. I really hope people see the Bastion data and think he's broken due to 1 v 1 survivability.

Denis / Force - we were testing this out on the PTR and we think this might be the New "Self healing Meta" coming in the Form of Self Healing Heroes Paired with 1 healer and a Utility pending on the Map like Tank, Control or Dive (Eg on a payload attacking we took - Mei / Bastion / 76 / Roadhog / Ana / Rein and on Defense we took Mei / Bastion / 76 / Roadhog / Dva / Lucio and Found on capture maps taking Mei / Bastion / 76 / Roadhog / Reaper / Mercy) were all Games we testedwere broken & Easy and also hard to Counter but we will have to Wait and see what the player base goes with on Live.
