More than 10,000 applied but only 270 were chosen to be the latest Gurkha recruits to join the British Army from Nepal this year. They’ve now started their training at Catterick Garrison and after more than 2 months, they took their first trip out of the base to experience what life is like in the UK.

Had retired Gurkhas working as security on a merchant ship I worked on. At anchor - which we were a lot - the mid to 0800 watch was just me and a Gurkha. Dude liked to sneak up on me at some point during my hourly rounds. I would do everything your supposed to; vary the time, vary the route, etc, but at some point I would turn around and he'd be standing behind me grinning politely!

@@mammamiapizzeria4911 let me tell you about the word Gurkha. Gorkha is actually a place in Nepal where a king started conquering from a city to bigger Nepal. He conquered many small states and name Nepal. At that time people in Nepal are named as Gorkhali British named gurkhas to gorkhali. This word describes People in Nepal is Gorkhali/gurkhas.
