SOLID video. I'm 20 years old been working on vehicles for most of my life mostly excluding ford's. Especially ford trucks my dad's a ford guy pretty sure the starter went bad so I gotta replace it now I know where and what techniques to use to pull it out and put the new one in.

On vacation the truck starter stopped working far from home. Went to the parts store and bought a starter along with a couple hundred in tools I already owned just to get this done in the restaurant parking lot. Got the family home with almost no skin left on my hands. Certified dad moment.😅

2010 F150, 3-bolted electrical connections & 3 starter bolts, 5hrs to re & re starter-the most difficult job in my 50yrs of wrenching! In my experience, getting the starter in & out was equally challenging! My starter had a nipple on the end, unlike the starter in the video.

On a 2020 ford f150xlt, the top startor bolt goes through the housing of the transmission I to the startor...🎉

Wonder if u can buy a 2020 starter and run it backwards so what if u have to drill the hole alittle bigger it be easier fuck the 3rd bolt

Didn't work on my truck. Wont fit is space. Took me 2.5 hrs to get starter out. Still not sure how I ever loosened that top bolt. Tried every combination of extensions available. Nothing wanted to work. No room up there. Almost gave up. Ground down a small socket to make it 1/8-1/4" shorter with a 6"-3/8 extension and that seemed to do the trick to loosen the bolt. Then took it out with 6'' 1/4 drive. Install was a little over and hour. When installing put a piece of tape over top hole, drill a hole in it and insert bolt. This will hold in place till you tighten it. Good luck to all that try this. On the hardness level I would rate this a 8 or 9, but still saved me around $350+ doing it myself.

To remove the old one just take the solenoid off. Then access is much better.

Is this a 2wd truck? The space behind the starter is much smaller on my 2012 f150 w/ 5.0. I’d guesstimate half an inch between the back of the starter and the front end hardware. Nowhere near enough room for hand or ratchet to fit back there like you did in this video
