Well, I enjoy your videos, I purchased my Powerboost after watching your videos and getting a lot of data on it. I could tell you were impressed with it back a year ago when I purchased mine. And it is everything you say it is, I've only had one problem with it, but other than that it's been flawless. Good luck with your super duty.

My 2022 PowerBoost has been a pretty reliable vehicle at 19,000 miles. So far I've only had rear pinion seal replaced and the keyless entry keypad replaced twice. It gets 8-10 mpg towing my 6900 lb travel trailer at 55-60 mph.

In 2019 i purchased the gmc sierra at4 3.0L duramax. Drove it for a year absolutely loved it. Got incredible fuel economy. Routinely got 31mpg. Pulling loads 12-15mpg. But Diesel got crazy high in 2020 and some issues cant overcome. Seats harder than concrete, and sunroof rattled. Got powerboost instead same package as yours. Except no sunroof 😊, Love it. Still have random engine light comes on every 20 min. Did check and no trouble code. No one can understand why. Its goofy. But very good fuel economy around 21.1- 22. The range is crazy. 700 - 750miles. Drove from canton ga to destin florida drove around and filled back up in canton. I have alot of info on both so far. Fords interior way more confrontable than the gmc. But gmc infotainment system way better than Ford. But im biased

Hey buddy, i liked your detailed explanation about the powerboost, why you're getting rid of it. I have had an f150 ecoboost for the last couple of years, but I have a highway commute of 45 miles one way on a busy qew from niagara Falls to mississauga, Ontario. So, I was wondering if powerboost gonna be more economical than what i have. Lot of braking on the highway as it is really busy and jampacked all the time. Would you recommend a powerboost, or i should stick to to ecoboost.

Great and informative video on trucks. We are also looking to replace our Tundra 5.7 (GVWR 7200, GAWR RR= 4150, Payload 1330 lbs) and were considering the F150 Powerboost for towing our 27 foot Airstream (6000 lbs loaded) to pick up better mpg. However, after listening to your video, and many others, it seems that we should lean toward a diesel or just stick with our Tundra due to it's high reliability. Thank you for your explanation on this topic. I had to smile at your description of the differences in weather in PA versus MI. We used to live in the Lancaster, PA area while I was working in both Lebanon and York for about 12 years. We moved to Milwaukee, WI and quickly realized how crappy the weather differences were versus central PA. We miss that area alot.

Just remember that diesels get their best mileage on very long distance,I own a super duty diesel and it's deleated and tuned / no load I get 21-24 / it will pull anything but there is a learning curve when towing to get decent mileage but reality is when towing the mileage drops to teens really quick plus parts are more expensive and so is diesel fuel and the truck itself is more expensive/so if it's your daily driver because you're in construction or whatever great but if you think you need a diesel just to pull a 6k trailer probably not the best route to go/ f150 top of the line your around 80k but for that same truck in a super duty your looking at over a 100k/the f150 is rated to pull 14k so it's more than capable to pull your trailer

I had the 3 l powerstroke and for the 40,000 mi that I had put on it I had no problems but when diesel prices shot up to twice as much as normal gasoline became less efficient than standard gasoline especially since I really wasn't doing any towing but I averaged about 24 miles per gallon with it which was great

My PB was great until 36k miles. The power window went out at 37k; the trailer brake controller won’t work correctly, and the transmission shifts like crap. I would have kept it, but all our local dealerships were 2-3 months before they could diagnose the transmission issue. It was a fast truck and reliable until out of bumper-to-bumper warranty.

We thought there might be long-term durability issues too! We got the extended warranty to take us out to 125K miles. These modern F-150's have a HUGE amount of complexity, and they really haven't taken the time to sort them out.

Honestly I have an 2018 F-150 Ecoboost max tow package and also run a tow tune on it to make it even easier than it already is to pull a 33ft camper and it does it with ease but I only pull it a handful of times a year. The camper weighs about 7800Ibs and u barely even feel it back there but the longer u tow with ur gas mileage goes down. I averaged about 10miles a gallon for 360 miles one way. I’m happy with it. I’m thinking of going with the powerboost soon cause of all the pulling power it has. I know the mpg will probably be about the same but should power it with ease when I need it. When I don’t I’ll get great gas mileage.

Recently I was exiting a carwash in my 2021 PowerBoost. When I dropped the transmission into drive, the truck took off at full rpms. I hit my brake but had none, the pedal just went to the floor. I tried to turn the engine off but it kept running. I threw it into neutral and luckily I did not hit a person on vehicle. I was able to make a few turns on the large parking lot and finally coasted to a stop. I then shut it off and restarted it and it ran fine. I took it to a ford dealer and they checked it out and could not find a problem and they never heard of this before. They checked with ford motor company and they claimed they had never heard of this happening either. I don't believe them. Two days later I unloaded it for a 2023 Lexus GX 460.

Thank you for the update. I purchased a 2022 Powerboost and love it. BEST riding truck around IMHO; very smooth.! We also purchased an RV 29ft. towable (5900-6900) lbs. We plan to take about 6-8 trips per year. The rest of the time I'm driving to work 14 miles/day. So, do I stay with the Powerboost, OR, do I go for the Powerstroke just for the sake of pulling an RV 6-8 times per year???? Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Thank you!
@ArmyProperty
@ArmyProperty Жыл бұрын
Yes, the PowerBoost rides great!!! Very smooth and composed. I always said it reminded me of the way a luxury SUV handles.... not a truck that can tow 12,000 pounds. If you're only taking 6-8 trips per year with your camper / RV, it's probably fine to just "suck up" the hit to your MPG's. The benefit of having onboard AC power will more than make up for it. Pro Power Onboard is a game changer for the boondockers and preppers and "van life" and "camper life" people. Shocking that nobody else offers it yet!!! Also amazing that the new Super Duty only comes with 2KW of AC power.

A lot of people like the V-8. There’s a video out there where a sales guy from a dealership asks his mechanics which engine they’d pick, and a majority of them choose the V-8. It’s simpler and it operates under a lot less stress. If Ford made an F-150 hybrid with the 5.0 Coyote we’d be all over it. Or better get, a hybrid Super Duty based off the 7.3!!

I have a 2019 F-150 3.5L Ecoboost. It pulls my boat trailer (7000 lbs) easily but it's stopping power with 3.5L of displacement is the only weakness. Do you feel the regenerative braking will add to the stopping power of this truck? I am about to buy a 2023 Powerboost.
@ArmyProperty
@ArmyProperty Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the PowerBoost gives you very little regen braking. Practically zero. It’s nowhere near a Tesla or other EV, and it definitely doesn’t provide “one-pedal driving.” It’s still a great truck, but doesn’t live up to its potential in this area.

The PowerBoost will pull a 4,000lb trailer effortlessly. The only question is stopping. If you go up and down a lot of hills, you might find the truck lacking in downhill engine braking. Plus, a 20-foot trailer will add a ton of drag, and you'll be lucky to ever get 10 mpg's!!! More like 6-8!!!

Your comment about sunroofs is a biased justification for yourself. I think you should be more careful with comments based on your personal experience or perhaps include a disclaimer. However, I would not assert definitively that sunroofs never leak based solely on my own experience. Making such a claim would be irresponsible

To each their own! We’ve been driving since the 1980s and we keep our cars forever. Inevitably the drains start to clog up (and leak into the cabin) and we need to spend tons of $$$ getting them cleaned. And the motors die too. It’s happened on a number of cars & trucks that we’ve owned. Then there’s the fact that it’s a $1,000 option and doesn’t add any functionality, and decreases the available payload, which matters if you load your truck heavy. That’s OUR issue with sunroofs. But if you want one, and it makes you happy, go for it!

I have always watched your videos and enjoyed them. You are wrong on some of your sayings on this video and the f150 hybrid has much more power in the mountains as true for the flat lands too. I hope you dont plan on getting an EV truck as they are just a truck for use in the city. I will never own an EV as I drove a diesel for 12 years and gas powered trucks as far back as 1970 and hybrid is the way to go. I love mine and have 8 different trailers I pull with it. EV vehicles will never take over and if they would our electric grid systems in America will all fail. Good luck.
@ArmyProperty
@ArmyProperty Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the insight!! Rest assured that we have no plans to get an EV pickup!!! As we said, EV sedans might be taking over, and EV semis are slowly getting there, but EV pickups are nowhere near ready for prime time. We traded in our PowerBoost because it's just not suitable for thousands of miles of "heavy" towing (with a 5-8K trailer) that we tend to do, because the MPG's go straight down the crapper under those conditions. The hybrid is a great concept but Ford put a tiny battery in this one, so it doesn't make much of a contribution to MPG's. If they wanted to really do it right, they'd put in a big battery so you could run on electric power more of the time. Maybe they'll do that for 2024. Who knows? Meantime we'll do our towing with our F-150 diesel, which does "ok" with a 5K trailer, or our new Super Duty which we just picked up. Thanks again!

I bought an 2023 PB and can cofirm the more power at higher altitudes. This is due to the turbos not needing to spool due to the electric motor compensating. I tow 10K lbs with mine in the Big bear mountains and its miles beyond my previous F150. The Hybrid sistem is a home run in my eyes. Especially with 7.2KW of true 2 phase power in the bed. Electric eventually will take over, not any time soon. If you base your decisions comparing the 3rd generation EV vs the 30th Gen Internal combusion you are obviously comparing apples to elephants.
