Thanks for the video. I liked it was straight to the point, camera angles were good, and text on screen was all you need to know to accomplish this drain and fill. I wish more videos were like this! Cheers!

a good practice is to remove the fill plug FIRST!!!!!

At 0:50 I recommend loosening it first to make sure it’s not stuck, which is the whole point. Removing it entirely is not necessary unless you’re in so much of a hurry that the extra few seconds you’ll save by it draining a tad faster matters to you.

Hey are you supposed to put in an additive with the fluid? A car shop told me they put in “slip additive” when I was calling around. Have a 2009 f150 if that makes a difference

I’m not sure why you’d want that additive in a transfer case, it shouldn’t be needed for this application. That’s usually for rear axles with a conventional limited slip differential. This video is for the 4WD transfer case.

Thinking about this a little more, does your 4WD switch have the Auto setting or it just the 4HI and 4LO positions?

There is a Friction Modifier additive that goes in rear diff's if you have a Limited Slip Read Diff, unless it's got an Electronic Locking system - you can tell if it has Electronic Locking if there is a plug (green near the top on the drivers side of the Rear Diff. You can also tell if it is Limited Slip by lifting both rear tires of the ground and spinning either of them. If the other tire rotates same direction, it's LS. If the other goes in opposite direction, it's not LS.
