What temp should the fan kick on on 2015 and is there any way to test them?

I heard a funny noise and the A/C started to act weird about a week ago. Drove to Vegas yesterday towing my 44' FW and the over temp light came on. I notice the fan was spinning with the wind blowing in the grill. I started the truck up and could hold the fan. Truck cooled down and drove the last 60 miles at 60 mph with no temp issues. Did notice that if the oil temp got to 230 the water temp started to rise. Of course it only did it with a load on it. Could not fine a dealer that had a clutch so had to do AutoZone. Got it home without the trailer and going to change it after breakfast. I have a 2015 F250 PS with 195K miles. Watching your videos are great. Appreciate you posting all the info.

Did that at work on our 6.7 was awesome to hear first thing in the morning but I was more amazed at how well Ford has designed the engine to remain cool during the process. To go from Navistar 6.4 spitting flames and cooking cylinders 7 and 8 to having my oil temp sit at 180 during a stationary Regen, really amazing

Great diag. Great job, Our 550's all have underhood v-mac compressors .Sucks to be us.Got to remove upper shroud. We found on the earlier 6.7's the fan's themselves develope cracks in them around the mounting stud area, but they don't break apart but we will replace them. Doing the main water pump on a 16 power stroke right now, kinda hating my life at the moment ,the lower 2 LH bolts are nasty behind the plastic battery cable tray and the P/S hose.

After five fan clutches, with only one that worked right, but got damaged in an accident, I just pulled the fan clutch off my Dodge Dakota yesterday. The electric fan comes at 180 degrees and shuts back off about 160 and keeps the engine cool. Of course it's winter, maybe summer will be a different issue. I don't tow heavy loads and rarely climb mountains. I swapped two under warranty and they seem to be just too tight. Years ago on the island of Lanai in Hawaii, I serviced the plantations radios and drive a few GMC vehicles and thought that GMC's were just that loud. In the last two years I realized how much the fan clutch is the problem.

I picked up my new 2022 f250 Powerstroke a few months ago and I think I've had this issue from day 1 but it wasn't as exacerbated until this past weekend when I picked up my new camper and struggled to get it home. I hope driving like this for a couple hundred miles didn't do any permanent damage. Less than 2000 miles on it and dealer confirmed it was this stuck fan and will get a new one installed tomorrow. I'm hoping I will notice how awesome a truck it really is because from the day I got it, I was never impressed and I chalked it up to me owning my first diesel. Also, seeing a bunch of 2022 trucks with this, maybe they had a bad batch of parts?

Had the same problem on my 2022 F250, with only 3000 miles. Apparently there is a TSB about an evaporator switch. The dealer did that first, but the problem remained. They realized the problem was the fan clutch, and replaced it. Everything is good now, well…now my clearance lights are leaking 😬. I hope my F250 isn’t a lemon. It only has 4300 miles. Recorded the sound (pretty loud and annoying) and my local Ford dealer couldn’t find the problem and told me it was normal! I’m able to do some work on my car and am thinking of tackling this job myself, but I noticed there are different ratings (standard, heavy duty, severe duty, and truck). Drove a few miles after losing the belt to a bad tensioner. New tensioner, idler pulleys, and belt. Everything works great but having a fan clutch issue with AC on. Couldn't find that tsb unless it was just a PCM update. Russell, what wound up being the issue with yours? Going to try a PCM reset tomorrow.

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod yes soon as I turn on my AC my fan clutch engages and stays on the whole time no matter what the ambient temperature is or load for that matter completely empty or pulling something figure it's the fan clutch that's messed up no codes
