I have the battery connection issue and currently have a clamp on the wire. When i took it to the ford dealer it was working due to the clamp so they would not fix it. Probably have to take the clamp off and have it towed to get a repair.

I want to enjoy my maverick, but i ordered it in September 2021 and still its NOT EVEN BUILD YET. I don't really understand how it's possible. I have basic Hybrid XL, no Co Pilot and no bedliner. It was scheduled for June, then Rescheduled for July and now it's rescheduled for August. And when i am calling them and asking, why people who ordered Hybrid later than me already received vehicles and i did not. They have a stupid excuse "Well, its most likely because of addons". But guess what - I dont have any addons.... Then they said "Oh it maybe because we changes how we process orders and blah blah blah"
@sign4541
@sign4541 2 жыл бұрын
With no addons, you can bet it's Fords extremely wonky dealer allocation process that's worked against you. Not being dismissive, but give thanks that you're at least likely to get yours soon. Some people who ordered in June '21 when I did are STILL unscheduled. Hope you see yours very soon. It's a great little truck!

I have an interesting note. My 2022 Hyundai Tucson Sel Hybrid does not have a lead acid battery. It is contained as part of the Hybrid battery and uses 10% of it, allocated by the BMS, for typical 12v accessories. (Its 270v but has a 12v converter). So if I manage to lose 90% of the battery, there is a battery "reset" button on the dash that I press to reinitialize the system to start the car and recharge the battery. The power is always available so its "idiot" proof in the event of leaving something running all night. Pretty handy. Thanks for the video!

That is very interesting indeed. I know most hybrids including the popular Toyota Hybrids all use a separate 12volt battery.

@tracystandiferd3016

@@jamesmedina2062 The seats are comfortable but on my XLT they are manual. I am only in a wheelchair for long walks. I again can't stress how pleased I am with this truck. @@tracystandiferd3016 yes I have learned that it needs to go without making too much smoke and also be comfortable. I have focused on room and comfort alone used but then gotten bit by the smog and pollution from a neglected used motor. With my hip gone bad its really hard to find a good seat. The better one like a big Lazy-Boy will spread out the load to other parts of my body. I hear good results from the new hips but I read in medical journals that they do break down over time and poison the body so I am stuck here and of course HMO insurance is non-stop drama. Glad you found a good vehicle for your needs..

Agree 100%. Had mine since February 2nd, with no issues whatsoever. Going in, I was a bit hesitant to go with the hybrid, mostly because I had heard bad things abut CVTs. But I am so glad I didn't let misinformation dissuade me. Did a little research, found that the eCVT in the Maverick is completely unrelated to those belt driven CVTs, and took the plunge. Best decision I ever made. LOVE this truck!!

Hey Bub, great job describing the issues. I did the exact same thing, the equivalent of 'jiggle the handle' on an old toilet, and it worked. I also carry an extra 12 volt bat. for a jumper if I need it. So, can y'all's imagine some soccer mom with a car load of kids having to get out, open the hood and poke at the defective battery connector to get it started?? Wowzer!! I still swear by my Maverick, but man o man, could the engineers at Ford anticipated this?? I'm just sorry they had to get the negative press over it, after such a heroic effort to deliver a really nice utility vehicle.... hope we learn from it

Thanks for your vote of confidence. I'm planning to order a '23 model when the order banks open in a month. I hear that some Mavericks have braking characteristics that make smooth stops somewhat problematic. I presume this is caused by a transition from regenerative to frictional braking. What has your experience been in this area?
@jmc6000
@jmc6000 2 жыл бұрын
Yes braking can be a bit tricky at 1st but after a while your foot learns how to modulate the pedal so as to be not as abrupt in stopping at low speeds

@tracystandiferd3016

You are correct on the braking (Somewhat) It does drive differently than a regular vehicle BUT it's just a learning curve. I will coast to a light or stop sign and I don't follow too closely to the vehicle ahead of me (All of these if able of course) When my husband drives it rarely he gets that jerk feeling when applying brakes. Basically it just is a different truck than any others and you will learn it as well. I will say just yesterday a lady backed out without looking to see and we had to slam on the brakes of course and it performed perfectly when we needed it too. There might be a slight learning curve but it is well with it! The comfort, look, storage and the big one gas mileage is absolutely worth it. Best of luck to you!

I wouldn't exactly say the 2020 Escape hybrid has zero issues. We've had a dead vehicle twice during owning ours. Similar issue. I did loosen and retighten the negative terminal that you referenced in it and it hasn't done it since. We did take it to the dealer and they load tested the 12v battery and found it to be fine but that was prior to them (Ford) finally discovering the fix. Otherwise it has been a great vehicle with spectacular MPG. However the maverick issues I read about are what lead me to discover the loose connection you referenced here. I'm waiting on my maverick order to be built but I had chosen the 2.0 Ecoboost in it. Looks like you're enjoying your Maverick.....I'm excited too eventually get mine.

You need to start watching Ford Boss Me here on KZbin before sticking you neck out on the Maverick or the Escape. He works for a Ford dealership as a Technician and will tell you the problems, TSB's ,recalls ect. You do know that there is a recall right now on the Maverick and it's only a bandaid to keep it from catching fire? 2.7 Hybrid Mavericks have a faulty crankshaft, it shatters taking out the oil pan and causing a fire. The recall is to add holes in the lower splash shield to let the oil escape at least to limit the chance of fire.

1st not all dealers are doing markups especially on pre ordered trucks, 2nd there are no rust issues associated with the Maverick, 3rd parts falling off really??? Holes in the fuel tank have already been addressed and taken care of and finally the fire issue is really a non issue covered in my upcoming video.

I’ll get it once they come out with a maverick 4x4 hybrid. They have a f150 hybrid 4x4. I don’t see why they can’t do the same.

Cold air intakes are worthless without a tune. K&N factory replacement airfilter makes more sense

It would but a K&N factory drop in filter is not available for the Hybrid

Great video. I live in Syracuse NY and it can get really cold here. I heard about the surging issue and glowing cat. This issue only occurs during a remote start and excessive idling time. Should I order one or forget it . We have brutal winters in upstate New York..

I would say go for it since Ford has already resolved the issue on future builds of the Maverick Hybrid

We can't get Ford Maverick Hybrid in our neck of the woods, only those EcoBoom engines with all their problem. Due to a combination of high demand and global supply-chain constraints, not all models and trims or features are available to order. Contact your dealer for available inventory stock or future availability.

I ordered a maverick Dec 1st. It is built and is at the Ford prep center being peeped before going to my dealer. I was told by my dealer that the dealers could not order stock trucks. That because of demand only customer's can order mavericks. Because of this the only way a dealer could get a new Maverick is if a customer backs out of his purchase the dealer then take it and sell it on their lot, and Mark it up as they wish. The only other way they receive new Mavericks is that Ford does sometimes build extra vehicles and will allerting the dealer that some are coming the dealers way, so they want them. The dealer has no say in how these random trucks are built, just do you want it to sell or not. My dealer has a customer refused truck in the showroom for customers to see and sit in. It was priced at $8K over sticker and was not to be sold until another customer backed out of an order of a truck that had arrived. When a customer orders a maverick they pay full MSRP but no more as per Ford. The dealer can not Mark up customer ordered trucks.

Sorry: I meant 1k/wk. lol. 1k/mo is… grocery getting. I picked up a used Prius a few years ago and converted the back into a pull-out platform for tools and materials. I’ve carried plywood and drywall on the roof rack and have a shop trailer I pull with it. Loaded, gets 35mpg. The Maverick will actually be an upgrade in fuel economy and far roomier.
Is the Ford Maverick Hybrid really Reliable???
