Just a short little blurb about some things on the Maverick. More to come and better quality to come, thanks for watching.

Hopefully the aftermarket will produce a replacement for that panel that will be more of a skid plate.

Considering the Maverick in coming years once supply increases and rates drop. Videos like these are excellent for making well informed buyers. As someone who lives where snow can be 1ft deep and you have to drive in other peoples ruts the paneling is almost needed to keep the salt and snow out at such a low clearance. On the other hand as someone who changes their oil I don't want to be screwing around with 20 plastic fasteners in sub-zero temperatures just to change my oil. Hope Ford sees this and implements a solution or offers after market product.

On my current 2016 escape I found a hard plastic cover that replaces the OEM felt/odd material one that has access panels for the oil and filter drain. Also one for the transmission drain. It's pretty handy but I seem to inevitably somehow spill some oil in it that I have to take it off to clean it anyway sometimes so not a perfect solution. The horizontal mounted oil filter on the 1.6 EB doesnt help. I wonder if you could substitute those metal screw tabs for the nylon/plastic ones the escape had? I wonder if the holes in the frame are similar enough in size? I have a bunch of extra new ones in the garage I may try when and if I ever get my maverick built and delivered.

Does your Mav have the Fx4 and 4k tow package? Are the shields different between the regular AWD and Fx4? I ordered a '23 and always do all my maintenance and repairs. Just doing my homework so I know what I'll be working with and be prepared. Thanks.

You move the shield back first and then down and forward, if you keep doing it the way you are you're going to definitely break the plastic air intake for the PTU cooling.

I have a Maverick on order and plan to take this shield off and trash it. Vehicles never had them 10yrs ago and I certainly don’t care about loosing a fraction of a mile per gallon on my fuel economy.

My 10 yr old SUV has a a windage shield, but even 10 yrs ago, they included access panels for the oil drain and filter. I'm amazed Ford saved the 50 cents and left out something that hopefully will be the majority of the servicing.

@@unorthodoxridez Just wondering if a rivnut could be used. I assume it is a square opening? If so there are tons of auto fasteners that might fit. The auto parts store or a body shop jobber may have the right size in stock.

How did you "enable the engine hour feature"? For reference I have a 2022 Hybrid FWD XLT. Thank you.
@unorthodoxridez
@unorthodoxridez Жыл бұрын
Using a program called Forscan on my laptop. It's $10 a year per pc, and you basically gain near dealer/factory level access to the vehicle. (Which can be bad if you aren't careful, you can definitely mess some stuff up). I have dealer experience in the Ford programming world, so I was familiar with it. However it's very intuitive software. If enough interest is out there I can make a video on it for sure.

Let us all know what you come up with as a replacement for the cheap clips. Also, someone needs to come up with an access panel for the oil drain plug and oil filter instead of having to drop 16 clips to remove the splash panel.
@unorthodoxridez
@unorthodoxridez Жыл бұрын
That could be doable, I will keep everyone posted. I thought about making an aluminum panel using better fasteners, retaining the cooling scoop

How abiut aluminum capped wheel nuts. They still make them on every brand of manufacture and they all swell and then you cant get the wheels off unless you hammer larger sockets on. Customers dont want to oay for the nuts so when i see those xars come back I refuse to remove the wheels. Pay me straight time to damage my hard earned tools and pay for the new wheelnuts. These retainers are garbage. So is fords products.
