Those are cold welds, try sanding or grinding to raw steel then preheat with a torch it helps on small welders. Heat the larger surface area / thicker metal more. You have to do what you have to do when ur tools are limited. Keep it up! Dive in it’s how you Learn! It’s how I became a Master Certified Mechanic at age 21! Learned by laying on my back in the Snow at age 15. I miss those days!!! Keep it up!!!

I wish I saw this a few months ago, that is a good idea, the motor is now in the truck so I’d have to take it out again to redo, it did hold up to reving motor at 4K rpm before motor lost spark so I hope that’s a good sign 😅, did also hold up to pulling on the motor with hoist when it was on hoist attached to mounts too, I can only pray lol

@@shadytreekustomz6268 well revving the motor up is one thing putting the motor under load while it’s in gear is a completely different load set. Early dragracing days when I was a kid as well we used to chain our engines or put a torque limiting strap. For those days I would drop the clutch and you would break a motor Mount you could literally break a Ton of parts because your engine will literally lift out of the engine bay. That would be the driver side on your vehicle. I would put a strap somewhere between the frame and the engine block up front. you do not want it tight. you wanna leave some slack otherwise you’ll be feeling a lot of engine vibration inside the vehicle with rigid mounting. So that would be something I would probably consider until you go back in and repair those wells one day. That is an old-school way to give you some form of security but it’s not a fix. Down the road once you get everything working correctly I would go back in and pull that motor out grind those welds down and either get a higher amperage welder or slightly heat the metal like I told you and with a little finesse get a much better penetrating weld.

@@shadytreekustomz6268 if your truck had a 4.0 in it it came with a vibration engine damper on the left side or driver side up front on the engine basically tying the engine to the frame that is similar to what I’m trying to explain but do not use that, that is more for vibration.

@@marcanthony854 That is true, I’m looking at the torque limiting strap now, I like the idea, the motor mounts are solid with no movement, there is rubber in them but that is just how they were from the previous owner, i don’t know why it’s in there when they are solid but that’s another story, would this mean I would have to make it tight then?

I also did get this project half finished, when I first pulled motor the mounts had some good welds on it along with a few tack welds on some parts, I kind of just did more to be safe
