I got a 2019 F450 it’s got a ten foot flat bed. I have to get a class a cdl to pull the 14k trailers we have. I’ll be taking night classes to lean to drive full size semi trucks. It’s crazy just to pull the trailer my 2013 Chevy 2500 did for the past couple years. The F450 has a GVWR of 16,500 plus 14,000 GVWR of trailer equals 30,500. 26K is the limit, didn’t see that coming until too late.

what do you think of the new 7.3 gasser coming out?
@jwar21635 жыл бұрын
Would not buy it seems to me to be a re-branded 460 cui in a modular design de-tuned to give the 7.3 liter destination. Ford has had engine redesigns on every model of engine since the 3.0 liter. Was introduced. 4.6 was a fail, 5.0 was a great engine until the modular design took affect. 5.4 and the 5.4. 3 valve both had issues. 2.7 ecoboost need I say more, 3.5 ecoboost on it's 3 gen and still having issues, 6.0 failure, 6.4 major failure like epic scale. I am a Ford owner and the 6.7 liter diesel now one 3rd gen and it is getting a make over due to under designed components of that engine. By using cheaper components there is no longevity to these engines. I am not bagging on Ford I have 3 of them in my drive way. 2013 F150 3.5 Ecoboost, 2013 F250 6.2 l , 2017 Fusion 1.6 ecoboost with an engine rattle that will not go away. Soon to have a Toyota replacing the Fusion and an Older 2001 F350 7.3L replacing the 2013 F250. I am to the point after owning Fords for 32 years that I am done with them using the consumer as their R&D department.

4:10. Those bolts that you mentioned just hold the steering box onto the frame. If you go on the other side of the f350 and looked at that part of the frame it would look identical. Those bolts have nothing to do with the structure of the frame.
@MatHelm5 жыл бұрын
Tow ratting is about stopping, not pulling as most people think. And stopping depends not only on the size of the brakes, but also the stiffness of a frame to apply that stopping power to the load.

Hey thanks for another great video. You mentioned getting your oil changed and that made me think of something.... Can you please do a video where you talk about maintenance costs for 1/2 ton vs. 3/4 and 1 ton trucks? Frequency of oil changes, brake pad and rotor changes, difference in capacities, and how long between intervals? I know this will change from brand to brand, and engine to engine, and based on the usage. What I am looking at is if I have a 27 ft travel trailer, and I am towing it with a F150, how much more wear is it on that truck vs. if I were towing with an F250? Is it a big enough difference to offset any of the initial cost difference of a 150 vs 250, or gas vs diesel super duty? Thanks for keeping the channel fresh!
@jwar21635 жыл бұрын
Your F150 is going to wear much quicker than the F250. The F150 does have lighter suspension components and the weight of the trailer pushing against the small frame assembly and the smaller brake components will cause higher wear on the F150 . Summary your transmission in the F150 will operate at higher temperatures. I know this first hand I have a 26 foot Travel trailer that I have towed with both my 2013 F150 EcoBoost and my 2013 F250 6.2L. Tthe stance(AKA Bumper to ground height) on the F150 has degraded over time with wear and tear. F250 stance is still near purchased new height. I also tow a 5400 pound boat with both trucks and the wear on the F150 brake system shows as I tow into the high elevation lakes to fish boat. Both trucks have the tow package factory installed. The F250 is a rougher ride with no weight on the rear. Only thing these two trucks share other than the Ford Badge is the Cab and doors F250 uses the same cab and doors of the F150 just different door panels on the interior. As I do not own a F350 I can not tell you that it is better than the any other model but I can say as I have rode in several of the F350 models both single wheel and dually they are very rough riding with no load or weight, but the F350 has the same 6.7 l Diesel engine and transmission with different differential and leaf suspension system than the F250. (2009 to present)

a lot of what you talk about is true on stock trucks. what you fail to mention is that you can upgrade tires, leafs and coils to match or exceed the next model. Then if you throw in air bags your truck will ride like a caddy. The reason that people will do this is they are trying to stay under the commercial vehicle weight limit if you go over it the fine can be over $5k if you don't have a cdl. then you can get an dually conversion kit for an f250 which will help.

With all of the videos you have put out about Fords F-350s and their F-450s I thought I would ask for your advice. First of all I have had quite few of Ford trucks, the 150, 250 and 350. I am looking at a 4X4 crew cab and DRW, but those have a pay load of 6,550 LB,s. The camper has a dry weight of 5,324 and a wet weight of 6,044. But that dose not include passengers and what we load in the camper, which probably put it right at the max weight if not over. I would like to get something with a higher payload but also staying with Ford. You would think that the 450 would have a heavier payload put it is less at 5,300. What would you suggest?
