Ford Super Duty Spare Tire Modification : Best Free Mod for your Truck

If you have a large truck camper hanging off the back of your truck, you may not be able to access your spare tire hoist.
I’ve modified my spare tire hoist so I can access it through the passenger side wheel well. This easy DIY modification costs nothing and makes the spare tire accessible again. which makes it one of the best truck mods you can do.
1999 through 2016 ford super Duty. May work in F-150 as well. Access is through an existing hole in the truck frame. Dually Tire Rotation with spare tire.

My truck was stolen today un-freakin'- believable already did the police report to police going down taking a video but this is unbelievable I finally get my truck and my camper and my damn truck was stolen. I have a Ravelco on my 2000 and 2017 F250’s. Look it up. They can’t steal it without a tow truck.

Turns out this truck is pretty easy to steal. Break the black plastic door handle frame just above the lock, push down on the rod and the door opens. Then a pair of channel locks on the ignition. If not for the dead battery, they would have had mine.

Awesome! Did you take the winch crossmember out when you drilled the holes? there are a couple of tabs that hold the winch in the original location, did you beat those down flat? Also, I love that back deck! is that custom?

Yeah, works great. I did not need to flatten any tabs, when I spun the bracket around it just sort of lined up perfectly.

Just the air bags, upper and lower torklift stable loads (uppers replaced with another brand)

I loved this idea but when I had a close look at my 2005 350 I found that the end of the spring and the rear fender block access to the horizontal oval hole. I can get to the diagonal oval hole in front of the horizontal one - does that work?

Not sure. When you’re positioning the hoist bracket before you drill the new holes, see if the extension rod will line up. If so, Mark and drill your holes and remount the bracket.
