Dude, you’re the people’s’ champ for making this so detailed and explaining everything you did in detail. I have minimal mechanic knowledge and you made it possible

Thanks so much for this! Had to do this exact job. I read how to do it but seeing you do it made it much more manageable.

That's what I'd like to hear lol. I been holding mine off for a while now too. Thanks for the vid! I couldn't really find anyone else with the same symptoms as my Taurus.

Before your ac compressor locked up was it making a scratching noise like metal on metal because mine has the compressor clutch plate rubbing against the pulls when the ac is not engaged. But once it is it doesn't rub because the magnet pulled it in. I'm basically wondering if my bearings are bad as well.

that's pretty much exactly what was happening to mine. much easier job than I expected.

What were the feeler gauge thicknesses? You said .04 and .01 which you said was .014. I know that's not real spec but a ballpark number is fine by me.
@bucksgarage15 жыл бұрын
14 thousands to 30 thousands is what Ford reccomends. I'm pretty sure I had a .010 and a .004 and that's what I was trying to say as. .014 it's been a while.

Thank you for the video, sorry for commenting on it after so long. Did you end up taking the driver side bolts for cradle out and or just loosening them? You had said in the one part that you had only loosened 2 bolts( 1:57). At beginning of video you mentioned you had to do both 0:43 seconds. I'm getting ready to do this and hoping to do it without too much issue.

I ended up having this apart twice to change the spacer behind the disk, the first time i loosened the driver side. The second time i didnt touch the driver side and it had enough flex in the mounts to let it sag enough. So honestly its up to you. Im sure its less stress on the cradle if you loosen the driver side up a little, but its not necessary.

Hey I bypassed the ax compressor with a 79” belt and it clears but now a week later it’s touching the ax compressor I’m super sketched it’s gonna tear my belt up anyway I can lift it up like a little just to clear it!? It’s barely touching
@tcrouch513222 жыл бұрын
I’m thinking I can pry that clutch off without dropping the motor? I hope soooo
@bucksgarage12 жыл бұрын
@@tcrouch51322 I would take the pulley off. Should have plenty of space that way. It only takes a little while to drop half that frame.

Did you have to loosen the rack and pinion screws when you dropped it down?
@bucksgarage16 жыл бұрын
Dubblesteel no I didnt

When do I put the c clap back that’s the only thing that is confusing to me do I put it inside the magnet?
@bucksgarage1 Жыл бұрын
After removal of everything you reinstall the magnet then the inner part of the clutch, then the c clip then the outer part of the of the clutch.

Any advice for dropping the sub-frame to gain clearance? Im supporting both sides with jack stands and a floor jack on the engine cradle. I loosened the drivers side bolts, and eventually removed them all together. Still, I cant seem to lower it enough to access the ac clutch bolt. The pulleys are basically pressed right up against the frame
@bucksgarage17 жыл бұрын
Hank Hill did you remove the engine mount on top? It looks like a dog bone.
@hankhill80447 жыл бұрын
Yeah removed that as well
@bucksgarage17 жыл бұрын
Hank Hill not sure what would be holding it then? I didnt do anything special to get mone to drop down.

i know this comes four years late but i could really use an answer, i just replaced the fuse with the a/c off and no issues but is it safe to drive at all that way? my girlfriend has Drs appointments all week and truck is in the shop...
@bucksgarage14 жыл бұрын
It will not engage the clutch unless you turn the air on. You should be fine.

@@bucksgarage1 Your welcome. My serpentine belt actually blew off after some time with the compressor pulley locked up! So for now I bypassed it with a different size belt.. Squeals like HELL though! thanks again for the vid

@@ReefHeater how long did it take for that to happen? mine just went out and itll drive without the ac on but i dont want to make it worse
@ReefHeater4 жыл бұрын
It did not take that long but it all depends i guess. I would bypass it now if it's locked up no reason not to

How do I get the outer part of the clutch off

Once the bolt is out it just slides off.

phoenixx0808 then find a video pertaining to what you need. This video is extremely helpful for what it was intended to demonstrate. The fact that you would even put such an entitled comment on a video that has nothing to do with what you're needing indicates that you should prolly just take your vehicle into a licensed professional.
