lots of parts fitted and Failure to find the root cause of why the diesel particulate filter cleaning process won't take place on its own.
at least 7 forced regens done and even removed the dpf to clean it.

Agree with @Mark Wilson Forscan is your friend. I’ve replaced these thermostats on Fiesta diesels for this exact issue. Top job!

I do have forscan although I've not really ever used it. My dongle was having issues that day I could not connect it

it would be very interesting for the author of the videos to indicate the mileage of the car on the control panel instruments, plus make comments on the car units that occur during the repair, but are not related to the malfunction, for example, the presence of oil in the intake, rust in the engine compartment Thank you 👍

I have with such an engine, the temperature of the coolant through the forscan shows 82 degrees. Is 92 degrees okay?

Can't for the life of me understand how garages don't pick up that the van is running cooler than it should. Thermostat blocked in the open position should have been staring them in the face. I'm a competent DIY mechanic and I had that diagnosed before watching to the point where Jimmy told us what the issue was. Hope the van owner goes back to the garages and show them the old thermostat and ask for his money back

That’s my van and the dpf blocked up less then 24 hours later, changing the thermostat did nothing to solve the problem. Ended up taking the van to fords and the technician rung me up & laughed and said “ your temp sensor 1 & 2 are the wrong way round “ not had a problem since

Think I would have disconnected the battery for a few minutes and then see how that would have went.

The battery disconnect sounds a good idea, but probably, the soot calc will change itself, after driving the vehicle for a few hours, Self learning probably!

Hi Jimmy, regarding not being able to do the dpf reset, learned values, have you tried logging into another model of ford, e.g. Mondeo and tried to see if that would work, lots of theses software programs are the same, and it might have been missed out after an update

I don't know if it will help but a guy from another garage told me a few days ago he had the same problem resetting a Custom with his snap on he rang the snap on help line and they told him it's happening a lot at the moment and to try putting it in as a Ranger instead and it worked possibly try putting it in as a Focus

@@ORileysAutos oh ok it was just a thought it shows how hard it is to keep on top with scan tools when snap on know something isn't right and advise a cheat to get around it instead of fixing it

Thermostat was not the issue. Fords require 70-80 degrees celsius to begin regen. That AAT sensor probably was the issue. There were codes for engine oil deterioration. Did you check the oil level? It was probably way over MAX and most likely smelling like diesel caused by trips too short to finish regeneration when started. Post - injected fuel to get higher temperature at DPF sips into oil pan. Data PIDS for average distance travelled and average time engine running for DPF regen could be useful to determine short trips.

Hi handsome, could you please eat and drink something? Every time I just think about working on my car to replace the window resivor or just look under the hood, I get thirsty and hungry. I drink water or Gatorade, I like french croissants with sliced turkey tomatoe and avocado , for dessert I like creme brulee and Ritz cookies.

Check out the newer type mechanical ones. Almost as bad as the heated element wax type.

Well, in Europe we use IDS up to around 2016. FDRS later year model vehicles. IDS can do the same as FDRS if it's 2015-2018

Ford's show -40°c when the MAF has been unplugged with ignition on, trust me I see it alot. It usually settles back down after 5-10 mile run. Try it in one of the newer transits you see many of!

Drive it,and it will regenerate by itself, and the content of soot will drop!

Generally this does not happen once its at 200% like this but I remember last year a mondeo I had a similar problem and the guy messaged back to say it went off after drive cycle

@@ORileysAutos Yes, that is true. If soot percentage is over ~170% it is required to perform static DPF regen. If you performed DPF clean, and the inlet pressure is normal, then after a few drive cycles the closed loop and open loop will adapt to actual values in real time. Closed loop reset is done by resetting inlet pressure sensor values, open loop reset is done by resetting DPF learned values.

@@stephnog the answer would be different depending on the software version your ecu is on, also there are other factors you have to consider i.e when the dpf is over 200% calculated soot it will have a high soot content, so a great understanding and care is required to avoid setting fire to the dpf, also a decent diagnostics tool with online adaption's might be required. The most common reason for these to block in the first place is a split short boost pipe that goes onto the throttle body.

Completely understand where your coming from mate, Like Jimmy I’m mobile & do this for a living but on completing all checks on vehicle & the Dpf is sitting at 4 mbar on idle so isn’t blocked & manometer on front dpf pipe is reading exactly what the sensor is saying.. i have a Launch Tab X431 ProS+ so is capable bit of kit but there’s no option to reset Soot calc.. that’s why I was asking mate thot you knew a certain way to reset.. I’m scratching my head on this one…. 😅

Also I dread to say it but at 3000rpm Dpf is only reaching 25/28mbar unsure now if it’s goosed.. No black soot on tailpipe tho

@stephnog in your case then I think you might need an online reset I did one on a 2019 van last week with a Thinktool max your pressures are low enough but if they are high you need to be careful these dpfs are like cinder toffee
