Thanks for sharing your video. I worked on my 2001 Ford Windstar for many years. And it's hard to find videos on this model and year

Not that bad of a job . One thing i forgot to list in video....Hose end that connects to power steering rack ....there is a large bundle of wires held by a clamp that screws into side of motor . I took clamp off ( 1 bolt ) to make more room . I didnt put the clamp back on after job was complete because wires werent going anywhere . Personal prefrence

Just be careful when you're putting the line on the rack. The fitting on mine that I got was so tight I couldn't line it up properly and ended up stripping the threads on the rack. Ugh

@@joeblow-mo2bi I got mine out as shown in vid ...i then reached down and started new line by hand. Went in rather easy

@@mike7044863 the line I got from partsource the fitting would hardly move it was so tight. If mine was like yours it would have a great. Good luck with your vehicle

Instead of cutting the lines get an 18mm flare or brake wrench and some 3 in 1 oil. I put the 3 in 1 oil on both ends and let it set about 30 min. and then just an good push on the wrench and it came loose. The clamp that holds the hose on top of the rack unit actually can just be pulled open by pulling on the end closest to the motor. I removed the bracket the clamp was mounted on before I found this out. Pull it open, remove the hose and then put the new hose in the clamp and close it back down. Would have saved me about 3 hours had I known this.

Sounds good .....i just cut the lines so i could get a standard socket on it . Didn't want to take a chance of stripping nut . Only took me a few min to cut the lines

Any advice if pinion connection gets stripped.

That's a tuff 1 because you cant tap to a larger size unless you can find an adapter that has a larger OD with the ID matching the hose size connector . I know that hardware stores or online might carry them . Menards has a nice selection in their plumbing dept . If you have any threads at all you might be able to get away with a good thick wrap of thread tape around connector as well...Worth a shot
