You don't know how much time and aggravation you saved me and my brother by making this video. We replaced the whole power steering pump and this was happening. We were stuck until we pressed play on your video. Thank man!

On the 2000 ford windstar the clamp that holds the hose is a plastic clamp which can be pulled open by pulling up on the top on the end closest to the motor. Pull it up and it will open and you just lift the hose up out of it and lay the new one in and push it back down to latch it.
@BobKontak4 жыл бұрын
LOL. I have the fancy lift and your way is the way to do it. Only thing I will add is on the wiper arms push down on the arm (near the base) against the spring tension while you lift the base of the arm off with a separate little curved pry screwdriver type tool. There are no 10mm bolts in that cowl. Just long 8mm (at least on this 2002). There are a couple of hard to find ones. A speed gun helps. Disconnect the squirtie tubes, wiper motor and under hood light connection and the whole unit pivots out. Thanks for the vid. Saved me some pain.

11-16-2022 thanks bro. Nice to have someone like you on my side. I have a 1996 Windstar. All kind problems. Overheat, rough idle, heavy fuel consumption, power steering pump to replace(2nd time). First time…I tried, soon as I was finished, the car was still moaning the power steering blues. Gonna do, water pump, power steering pump and heater core all at same time. Hopefully you will be able to tip me in on things. Thank you .

Hay, I'm haveing truble getting the second bolt in where in your video you put the flashlight on it. I have tried every angle you can think of and I checked and the threads look clean and not broken and I just can't seem to get it in. Any ideas as to why?
@robertbirmingham69262 жыл бұрын
Thanks, this is exactly my problem.
@TheStabilio4 жыл бұрын
Did you install without putting that 8mm nut back underneath? My hose has that bracket riveted onto the hose that was on the car so that it can't be slid off - I'd have to grind out the rivet to remove and fit onto the new one which does not have a bracket attached. The new hose has a greater length of heat shield. Hose doesn't have much slack in it to begin with and seems pretty set in place. I'm gonna be going this next week and am leaning toward not worrying about the bracket. It looks like the bracket is still on the old hose you removed here. Just wondering how you handled it. Thanks

Travis i have a 2001 ford Windstar 3.8L i am looking for the CHT Cylinder Head Temp sensor. It's for the engine coolant temperature, my radiator fan wont come on and this might be the problem. But i cannot find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have leak near the smaller part of the hose and the bolt. Which is what i think you are describing for inner seal that cannot be replaced. But, my thread part and bolt still rotate together. So does that sound like the inner seal or Teflon oRing?
@chandra-maeamedley18112 жыл бұрын
I got a 2002 and it has a leak or leaks, but not from the top like in your video. I never worked on power steering issues before, so I could only speculate on a hunch while recording a video. Too bad I can't add it with my comments. So you never mentioned the part name / or part number (OEM # would be helpful also). Is the name of the part the "Power Steering Pressure Line"?:
@BigTravGill2 жыл бұрын
It should be called the High pressure line. Some Auto parts stores may change it up a bit but its a high pressure line

I am a novice mechanic and recently became homeless i Portland OR. I bought a 99 Ford windstar with many issues to avoid living on the street. I know one of the issues is power steering leak. High whine and fluid loss. My problem is I dont really know how to look for the leak and where it is. I think the vehicle was in an accident in the past, so thats where the leak might have come from. Never the less I need to fix it before I spend more in power steering fluid than the vehicle is worth, lol. Any words of wisdom?
