12:08, when you were saying the nananananna that's how it sound if they were speaking tagalog where it flows. what she's referring to is the accent in english where the consonants can make the rhythm pretty aggressive lol. the aggressiveness is the pronounciation for example saying 'that' is 'dat'. but then again, there's levels of it. like the cantonese accent when stressed like straight up honger english can sound very harsh too.

In english there are pronoun "He" and "She" for a male and female person respectively. But in Filipino we use only the pronoun word "siya" to replace the subject regardless of the gender of it. That's why we often interchange the pronoun He/she because we are not used to it.

I'm a Filipino working in Singapore for 16 years now, typical Singaporean English might be difficult to understand at first due to accent depending on the locals' orientation. Grammatically, for local professionals, I admire them than our American orientation because it's more concise and well-mannered in my opinion which I was able to adapt. But yes, the Filipino English accent is now recognized as the sexiest English accent in the world. It's searchable on Google.

I was born in the Philippines. And studied my elementary up to 2nd year high school then migrated to USA, but anyway, ENGLISH was part of our subject along with Math. Science, Sociology and in order to graduate in every level of grades, high school level you have to PASS ENGLISH, and I remember our Director in my elementary and High School were Americans, so learned English since I was 5 years old, migrated to USA because Iam naturalized US citizen due to my Father had his citizenship before I was born, and came to USA when I was 16 yrs old. So it was not foreign for me to speak English, and graduated high school in USA,and became an RN, in Northern CA. So English is very important in the Philippines. Everyone can understand English and speak it also, is not foreign at all. 🇺🇸🇵🇭❤️ I

The main difference between Filipino Tagalog pacing is that the syllables have the same duration so they seem to be staccato and have a jackhammer impact. In contrast, American English uses stress-timed contrast which is long-short-long or shrt-long-short, in which the stressed syllable can be drawled out to be very long while the unstressed syllable often becomes a schwa or gets omitted or skipped. Americans have a Downward Staircase intonation in which most words start high then drop down to a lower pitch with each succeeding syllable. Filipinos retain an even intonation except for raising the pitch of the middle or second-to-the-last syllable for words like Boracay and Tagaytay. It sounds strange when Americans mispronounce them as [BOH-r'-kaih] or [TAH-Geh-taih]. In words like motor or lever, Americans like to differentiate each vowel so one is longer, emphasized, and louder than the other vowel. So motor is pronounced as [MOHW-t'r] while lever is pronounced as [LEEH-v'r], with the apostrophe ' representing the very shortened schwa. Filipinos prefer pronouncing both vowels in those words as the same (Spanish-style).

Philippines English accent depends upon the family and province he or she came from most rich filipinos speak english well because of greater chance of getting educated from expensive private schools while those who came from poverty line they speaks it not so good but can relate to a native speaker and the Philippines had more than 80 dialects with different accent and diction so their english pronounciation will reflect the tonal ang melody of how they pronounce their native tongue I don't want to give example because they will bash me lol

English is not necessarily a "national language" but it's just that the Philippines was a colony of the USA for almost 50 years. Our laws, even our Constitution itself is written in English. I don't know of any other non native English speaking country that has its laws and its Constitution written in English. The Philippines was the first "Vietnam war" of the USA but we had no allies like China and Russia to supply arms and ammunition. The USA didn't drive out Spain in the Philippines.. The Spanish occupation has been basically beaten and a Filipino government was already standing but America stole our freshly won independence at its nascence. I don't blame individual Americans it was just that their country had a destiny to become the sword arm, destined to be the Beast that the Scarlet whore of Babylon rides for a time until she switches to a final Beast.

Reason why filipinos are good with english. Is because some filipinos think english is better than filipino language. Some think if they start talking in english they are better than the other one. Mas "sosyal" daw Example. My sister got into a vehicular accident. The other driver immedietely blurted out. "i live in a condo". The other driver figured if she start talking in english she already won the debate. And bragging she lives in a condo makes her better or sosyal. Another example. My uncle in law. May wife's uncle. Whenever they get into an argument. Her wife starts talking in english. And our uncle in law avoids his wife because he can't talk back in english. Here in philippines english language is a status symbol. Masakit man aminin pero totoo. Another example. You will not hear someone saying tite"dick" on tv. But the word penis is ok. It is not censored.

Why are Filipinos good at English? because fellow Filipinos judge the manner of speech even if the grammatical structure, pronunciation, intonation, and liaison are correct. Speaking English is becoming more prevalent among Filipinos, which is one of the reasons for their success. Standard of living, standard of intelligence, standard of education. that's the reality bites. let me paraphrase it. Why are Filipinos good at English? because fellow Filipinos judge the manner of speech even if the grammatical structure, pronunciation, articulation, and conjunction are excellent. and one of the factors why Filipinos are good is that speaking English has become standard. standard in the state of life, a person's intelligence, and a standard of education
