mooore than that though....the simple thing..well "simple" but the music alone...how it goes so well and just works and is something in itself...the fact of how opposite he is...how humble and peaceful and loving he is with animals for example but a total killer on the other side of the spectrum...just the placement of the Hagakure quotes, as if chapters in this movie to break it up at the right spots. The fact they made comedy, drama, and action all in one. Even the way they portray the mob is different than any other mob movie you have seen. The fact also of the realism....unlike other mafia type movies and hitman movies, the way it feels and is possible Ghost Dog may be an actual person or could have been...sooo much for such a short film that could have been much longer and still been so entertaining says a lot.

@@jasonjason7640 I'm talking about underrated by the public. I think people in the industry recognize him as the phenomenal character actor he is, but how often do you see him listed in those "100 greatest actors" polls or mentioned in the same breath as people like De Niro or Jack Nicholson etc? Throughout his career he's never really been considered a headliner and generally plays a supporting role or, like with The Butler, is part of an ensemble cast. He's a wonderful actor and Oscar or not, he deserves far more acclaim than he generally receives.

It's not that bad of a movie if you just take it as itself, well.... that's a bit too strong, it's a good-bad, lol. Like Starship Troopers setup to be good-bad, but actually good.... lol They tried to setup BE as "great movie blockbuster" and, well, it wasn't that.

@Homeless Jim Good, maybe not great. It was a complete failure as it lost money - they sliced theaters it was going to be in. As scientology pretext. Still, watch it on it's own, a good-bad movie. I like it. Not a 'great' nor anywhere near a 'blockbuster'

Ghost Dog is on of my all time fave films ever....a genuine masterpiece.....Made me laugh how on here he's been asked deep question that reveal just what a complex dude he is with a unique method of his craft ,a true method actor and his own worst critic stripping himself deep for us....Then a couple days ago when he's on Breakfast club " So what's with the eye dude ? "

Ghost Dog is an absolute classic for me, and the best film he ever made in my eyes. There is something... Catchy, but far away at the same time. The soundtrack, made by RZA, is an absolute piece of gold, the story is simple, and the way it teaches the Hakagure is absolutely beautiful
