This week’s class is way off the regular schedule, that’s rare! I’ve been working nonstop so that’s my excuse! Didn’t want to rush the painting too much

Two things I'd like to add off the top of my mind. Watched a cigar making video a while back in one of my "it's 3 AM, can't sleep" moments and if memory serves, the dude explained that the most important tool for getting skilled was a "sample" cigar to look at and gauge your progress and finished work based upon. The other thing I can add is that far as I know, "discomfort and confusion" are *the* feelings that indicate the brain is in "learning mode" and they need to be sought-out within reason. If you don't feel those things, your brain isn't learning a whole lot or at all. PS: Holy, that artwork turned-out amazing!

@Dank_Lulu Жыл бұрын
@@mrpickles-hb6zx Yeah, that's where the "within reason" bit comes-in. I suggest the approach of trying to "get the main idea" instead of focusing on remembering any detail of what is being said. Also, a solid strat I used was reading the textbook(s) beforehand. Again, just get the most basic idea. "What is this whole subject about". That's enough for your brain to create structures and 'hook' information to them during lessons. This also eases the load and makes homework trivial in comparison, them's cheat codes right there. Try it! Also, if something's curious to you, you can look it up and learn a bit while it's still interesting and you should drop it once it gets boring. These are good ways to manage cognitive load.

I like this "Realistic" anime style, Marc! Your tips are also valid. We can't learn if we never leave our comfort zone. "We either Succeed, or we Learn", and "The Master has failed more times than the apprentice." But the biggest Failure is if we get a burnout because we take on too much at once. The secret is balance.

Yes its so true about complex subjects and going outside our comfort zone. I find that I'm successful tackling these challenges when I warm up doing something I'm already good at, that way I can gain momentum. I took your advice Marc, by drawing in mini sessions and its works. I work at it piece by piece, like drawing a certain body part/pose building it block by block. If I'm satisfied I take a break and come back it. If I run into a wall, I'll do a study on what is causing the issue (eg. drawing different hand poses). If you try to do everything at once, you force it and it does not come out right. I find this has been successful for me. These 5-10min mini sessions are great advice, thank you!

I can't believe I've never actually focused on how skilled you are, It sounds stupid obviously, I know. But I always focus more on what you're trying to convey instead of what you're putting on the canvas haha, but I focused on the digital painting today and the whole thing is so impressive how you managed to get the gta vibe in this. And copying styles sounds like an awesome idea. I'd love to see what you end up learning and hence teaching people by it.

My main form of art is music, I mostly play bass but play guitar on occasion. One thing I’ve gained from making and playing songs is to work on familiar stuff while getting yourself into a particular flow before going into something new. Never go into something challenging head first. Have a few warm up sketches working on things you are already comfortable with. Eventually you will add the previously uncomfortable things into your warm up. I do this music and drawings as well. I always have a few warm up songs as well as a place to screw around with drawings before I take things seriously. It works wonders and you’ll really see your progress after a while.

I really suck at perspective but a friend of mine said that between the sketches I did the one with the plongee angle was the more interesting, after some time sketching only when I asked some friends what they thought about the drawing that I started realizing what could have been improved, watching this video and the said experience made me realize that have some criticize your work helps alot, and that's kinda suck because if you dont have friends that do art as well or you dont have that many followers you end up not getting alot of feedback. I feel like it's time to go after some art discord or something like that.
