Forging the Greatsword Axeblade. We finally forge a giant weapon from Monster Hunter. Monster Hunter is known for its huge weaponry and the Axe Blade is no different. The team will have it's hands full with this build. There will be everything to make it come to life! Forging, fabrication and tons of grinding. We will use power hammers, 2 x 72" grinders , hand grinders , welders, torches and plasma cutters. Blacksmithing and Bladesmithing on a giant or should I say Monstrous scale. This is not a switch axe from MHW but perhaps we will do that next.

And if you want to make something else from Monster Hunter, but in a more traditional way, i suggest Legendary Bang sword and shield from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. If you ever feel useless just remember that there is a pommel on the monster-hunter axe
@AtelierMcMuttonArt
@AtelierMcMuttonArt 2 жыл бұрын
Not sure why- the pommel serves its purpose just fine.
@omfgitsrayleigh848
@omfgitsrayleigh848 2 жыл бұрын
@@AtelierMcMuttonArt pommels were/are for balancing the weapon, aswell as preventing hands slipping and weapon flying out of the hand. both of these are not achieved with this pommel as; 1) it would need many more kilograms of metal to actually start balancing the weapon 2) this weapon is essentially unsafe to hold onto (unless you use the ground to stop the weapon, as in the video) as you would have to stop many kilograms MULTIPLIED by the speed you managed to swing it. can also think of other things the pommel fails at, this is not a peened blade so its unnecessary, also not a talwar style weapon where the pommel shape may ensure 'correct' wrist position when slashing.
@AtelierMcMuttonArt
@AtelierMcMuttonArt 2 жыл бұрын
@@omfgitsrayleigh848 The MH Greatsword is an extreme chopping weapon, so the pommel wouldn't be used to alter the point of balance. It *is* used to prevent it from slipping out of your hands, though- remember that this is from a fantasy game where the player is several hundred times stronger than an actual human. They use the ground to stop it with their stronger attacks, but they do have several horizontal swings that would make use of the pommel.
@omfgitsrayleigh848
@omfgitsrayleigh848 2 жыл бұрын
@@AtelierMcMuttonArt while i could say they also need to weigh much more to not be thrown around by the weapon, wouldnt the HUNDREDS of times greater strength give them sufficient grip strength? I.e if ur "strong" enough to swing this, it would never slip out of your hands.
@AtelierMcMuttonArt
@AtelierMcMuttonArt 2 жыл бұрын
@@omfgitsrayleigh848 I have to say- I don't understand some folks' insistence on attempting to force reality into something that's clearly supposed to be unrealistic. If we must continue down this line of inquiry, then there are numerous situations where one's grip can't be easily maintained, regardless of how strong they are, such as the grip getting wet.

I would've loved to have seen a more 'practical' version of the weapon that keeps the length and has functional switch locks to go from a pole ax to full blade. Could shrink the bulk and blade size down to make it as long as it looks cool.

Another pretty big weapon suggestion; James Heller’s blade from Prototype 2 It has 3 distinct shapes depending on how many upgrades you’ve gotten for it, so there are a few different options on how to make it!

You know the main reason we stayed away from it is that our friend Ugo made one for the company in a none rushed timeline and it was perfect. I never thought we should even try after I saw his.

I know this comment is a little late... as this video is now like 3 weeks old, but I'll repost this on your next video when I see it. I know that Illia was on the show "Forged in Fire" (And WON at that!) a while back, and that show has currently been running a "Beat the Unbeaten" challenge... Where competitors are trying to defeat Ben Abbot. I feel like Illia could give the man a run for his money (Or the show's money at the very least!) so if given the opportunity, he should throw his hat in the ring! I got faith in you!

That's one great greataxe, really gorgeous. If you don't wanna make something like Berserk's Dragonslayer, how about some trick weapons from Bloodborne? Something like Rakuyo, Ludwig's Holy Blade or Burial Blade, including their transformation features. Can you create something like that?
