It's got just enough bones to make a great project. With all the panels/parts available, this will come out great. Key, not letting it to get overwhelming. Inch by inch, day by day. They don't make these cars anymore, so preserving them is a must. Can't wait for all the work in the future.

My dad taught me how to easily remove old front shocks from a car. Put a deep socket on the nut on top attached to a long extension and just work it back and forth till the shaft snaps.

The car looks better than the first impression. Almost ready to burning in new Steel.

Yeah structurally it's great! But yeah it'll need most of the sheet metal replaced 👍🏻

@BryceCold I was thinking about buying 72 cutlass. It's a complete car, but I'll have to get the floors and rear quarters replaced. But I don't do any welding and I wanted to stay in budget$

@BryceCold Жыл бұрын
Well I'm not really sure what your budget is but realistically, the way I see it is, you have about three options. Now depending if you can get floors and quarter panels from AMD or from a donor car, But you can either learn to weld yourself and save money that way, have a friend that can weld and they can help you out or you can save a little bit more money and pay a shop do it.

Chrome sockets are totally fine when you live as close to the tool store as you do! That’s what warranties are for

"I bought a firewall" has the potential for a cool t-shirt. Will you need to patch the floors before being dipped to help provide some rigidity?
@BryceCold
@BryceCold Жыл бұрын
That's funny you mentioned that, a few friends of mine and I were talking about funny sayings to put on shirts and one of them was something to that effect lol. As far as adding structure to the car for the dipper, it's not necessary. But obviously once I start to replace sheet metal then I will have to have the car set on a frame jig.

Hey brother it's Anthony. Is this project your greatest challenge thus far? Additionally, are you cataloguing as you go?
@BryceCold
@BryceCold Жыл бұрын
Yes this is definitely my most challenging build thus far, no pun intended LOL. And I am cataloging stuff to an extent but most things are so badly rusted that they can't be used. But I'm still hanging on to all the parts.

Dude you are literally going to regret not bagging the bolts and if you are planning on not using the bolts at least you can use them as reference of what style and size of where each and every bolt goes
@BryceCold
@BryceCold Жыл бұрын
Most of the bolts that go to the main body panels and bigger areas of the car are sectioned off on my workbench but the other screws and miscellaneous bolts that go here and there that were way too rusty to even remotely save I just have a big bin. You can go to Classic Industries or year one and Order bolt kits that tell you specifically where they go. Should I have catalog them better than I did? Absolutely but most these bolts needed to be replaced anyway.

Dipping that car is very risky bud,, once that car gets dipped ,you wont have a mint firewall or a car ? That car is very rusty, be prepared bud ! Best of luck!
@BryceCold
@BryceCold Жыл бұрын
The pieces that are solid and just surface rusted will be fine in the tank, it's just going to neutralize all of the rust and won't be left in there long enough to destroy metal. It's what these tanks were designed for so it'll be the best option for this car, and thank you!
