The murder happened in Texas which is known for the death penalty. If she bought her ticket from Austin to LaGuardia before the murder, the whole "crime of passion" goes out the window. Her sisters passport was in CR along with her own, which is going to lead to a charge of "Accessory after the fact" and/or "Aiding and Abetting" for her sister. If you're going to kill someone TEXAS is the LAST place you should do it. Texas doesn't mess around.

@@JohnnytNatural ...It's Texas. This is too high profile of a crime to be tried in Austin. She won't get a fair trial in Travis County. With the FBI doing the search, this could get transferred over to the feds depending on if state lines were crossed while committing the crime.

It's funny that there are no photos showing Kaitlin anywhere in the airport areas when that airport has thousands of cameras through out the inside and out side of that airport. Maybe the cameras were not working on that day that Kaitlin boarded the plane to Costa Rica. Joking yes the cameras would be working but not when Kaitlin was in front of them.

Sicko!!! At her age you would think she could control her emotions!!!

If your family member draws you into their big crime, they care more about their own skin than yours, so don't feel bad saying no. I don't agree with some hefty sentencing that has happened in America for some accessories, unfortunately, our justice system has charged people who pretended to go along with a potentially dangerous individual, and went to the cops at their first opportunity. So, to do as it seems her sister did, was monumentally dumb, and all for a sister who clearly didn't care a single bit about ruining her sister's life. Of course there are also instances of light sentencing, but those days seem far gone, and only the wealthiest among us ever seem to get lucky in this day and age. I'm glad she was caught. To take a promising young women's life over something so petty. It didn't even sound like she knew she was part of a triangle. I'm not impressed with the boyfriend either, his story changes, and attempt to downplay his own behavior, muddied the waters from the very beginning. Such a waste, and it just adds insult to injury that this was all over a cowardly, deceitful man. This shouldn't have even happened, but I'm glad she isn't getting any more freedom. She doesn't deserve it after the life she stole. I feel for Kaitlin's dad, but her actions and just the evidence we've seen are quite damning. Maybe wanting to believe in her innocence is just his way of coping. Praying for the families involved in this awful situation :(

Actually, maybe Armstrong is telling the truth about getting into a surfing accident. People like these commentators shouldn’t make these assumptions without getting the hard facts. If someone gets a nose job chances are, they are not out-and-about doing yoga. It takes 6-8 weeks for the procedure to heal. And doctors would never encourage their patients to do strenuous activities such as yoga during the healing process. Plus two or three weeks in a person who gets the nose surgery is probably in a bit of pain, since the nose area is one of your most sensitive areas of your body. In her mind, she is great and beautiful, and the idea that her bf would choose to be with someone less than her (in a narcissists mind, all women are less than her), was the reason for the murder. I believe the murder was planned by the fact that she successfully fled! Ultimately, she is not very smart. It's possible that the cyclist broke Armstrong's nose in a struggle before she was shot. Also: Pre-meditated murder imposes a far harsher punishment. What kind of rage can a person have that would cause them to brutally murder someone if they were planning their getaway a week or more in advance (barring a professional hired killer)? She had time to reconsider. Many people imagine killing someone they hate, but shortly discarded the idea when they've cooled off. Imagine! She never cooled off! This has to be something from her past. Why do I suspect that her father (or mother) was a cheater? This rage is something that grows in you.

The heart breaker here could have been a tip that her boyfriend was swimming with his platonic friend and she witnessed it. So she drove home packed a bag, went to a hotel. The next morning she got in her Jeep and drove it to CarMax and sold it. She deposited the check, booked a flight to New York, made an appointment with the US Consulate and got a passport, a haircut, a petti, then boarded a plane to Costa Rica. Just before boarding she makes a call 1-800 flowers and sends a pretty bouquet to Colin with a card -I went for a swim and a new life without you.

@@StellaKnights Colin Strickland himself stated his relationship with Moriah was platonic. He separated her mind from her soul. Then pinned it on Kaitlin. After he shot her he texted Kaitlin with a message saying that he 'just dropped off the flowers", then framed her for the murder proving that abstract things really do exist. During that same text he also asked Kaitlin if she wanted to meet him for a bite to eat. Why would he need more food if he just had supper with Moriah after their swim, before dropping her off.

That’s what I think. Just because she said give her the passport, that doesn’t mean that she helped her sister. I dislike this phrase but as the father said, “I know her, she would never do that “. Up until the point they do. In any event, she’s looking really guilty. And what was going through her head. When you’re on the run, avoid crowds and social events. Cash only and destroy all documents. What part of “keep a low profile” didn’t she understand? The identical sister drove her to the airport. Assuming without conceding the passport was stollen, the sister would have reported stolen property (like an international passport) to the police
