"They lack training like most law enforcement officers do" Honestly, I'm glad a professional is calling this out. In 2019, I spent more time on-range in November than most local officers do all year. As for the barricaded suspect in the vehicle... imagine being him and seeing the officers acting like that?

Can confirm, at a nearby community college you can pass BLET (basic law enforcement training, including driving course) and wildland fire fighting certification and testing in less time than it takes to complete the full cosmetology certification curriculum 😳 I don't remember how long the EMS program is, but I think that would put your hours over the full cosmetology curriculum 😄 respect that nice person certified to cut your hair, or do a pedicure, because they recognize the importance of training and realistic practice of techniques! Also a good source for free haircuts from trainees if you are around campus 😄 warning expectations cannot always be guaranteed! Just like anything else, stress can turn a perfect practice dummy hair cutting student into a shakey mess when doing it "downrange" the first time 😄✂️

I have trained military personnel, police and prison guards. I have watched hundreds of videos of police engagement and as you pointed out many are incompetent. My analogy is that of a guy who trained in MMA 30 years ago and still believes he has viable skills today with zero time training in 30 yrs. Police officers with exception like swat and other special units are not usually required to partake in daily training. Skills if not used are lost.

I keep hearing the sentiment "get out of your comfort zone" from tactical trainers that I listen to, and I've finally started trying to do that. I have pretty serious social anxiety, and it's taken a lot of time for me to figure out that if I can't handle just having a conversation with someone that I know doesn't like me, I definitely won't know what to do if I need to defend my life. Anyway, keep this content coming. While I mentally prepare myself for situations like these, I like to see and hear about what not to do.

I have debilitating social anxiety. I know its cool for everyone to say this now, but I had to drop out at 14 because my fight or flight response was so intense it led to medical complications. If you're intellectual, focus on a few areas you can build by yourself, so when you meet with others, you can calm yourself down mentally over shared values and interests.. It's kind of like jumping into cold water. It's overwhelming at first but then you acclimate. Keep pushing. Wishing you well

I'm there with you, social anxiety is overwhelming at the least and debilitating at most, as someone. Who has let it control my life (and still will) I think it is good more admitting to it so hopefully this no longer is a stigma and everyone with it can find ways to take control back, but things will never be that simple. One thing for mee is I will text or do something on my phone once I start having issues in public, its not a good look but it gives me the extra step to not just flight. It doesn't always work but it helps most of the time. I just wish there was a set way to just "cure", most people don't understand or think its just being shy or quiet. Thats what truly stifled earlier research possibilities. But it ruins peoples lives and dreams, and it makes the issue even worse and it is something that makes you feel like you're at war with yourself making it even worse. I hope we all are able to overcome this in a positive way no matter knowing how hard it is, just know you're not alone there are many of us dealing with that.

Hey, I noticed that you called out the cop for being overweight. And you mentioned that there were a lot of resources that could help. I'm not personally an officer but I am overweight and I would like to change that. I am in a state where constitutional carry is legal and I am confident in my ability to shoot but I recently had to go to another state for a family crisis and leave my carry behind. I was anxious the whole time I was without it and I realized how much I relied on it. As a female, I truly believe that firearms are the great equalizer. I was wondering if you could share any resources or advice about forming healthy, habitual behaviors that would make a civilian woman healthier and stronger. Something that doesn't need to involve a gym (or training with others), due to health concerns. Thank you for reading. Warm regards, Sage
@metarugia2176
@metarugia2176 2 жыл бұрын
In order to lose weight and be in a decent physical form, you have to introduce some kind of physical activity into your daily regime.If you're not able to go to a gym or have health limitations with resistance training(weights), invest in a treadmill so you can walk in the comfort/safety of your own home. Even if you can't fight off an attacker, your best bet is to run and seek help, which requires you to be in good physical health. Your next port of call is to eat a healthy diet that includes fresh fruit/vegetables,meat for protein and carbohydrates. If you're not sure where to start, just jump onto the internet and start your research as there's just a ton of info out there. Be situationally aware of your surroundings at all times wherever you go.

@@metarugia2176 Thank you for the advice. But for the jump on the internet part, that's where things get pretty convoluted. Everyone has different advice, diet, and workout routines that vary greatly from one another, but they all guarantee theirs is the best. Balanced diets, keto diets, paleo diets, one ingredient diets, liquid diets, HIIT training, bootcamps, low impact trainings, interval trainings, aerobics, cross training, isometrics.... And the list goes on. Everyone has varying success levels with a variety of combinations, but where do I even start lol. A treadmill would be nice, and I would like to focus on heart health as a priority. The only reason I can't go to the gym is because I'm unable to be around people without a mask due to health concerns for a child of mine, who has week lungs.

@@fonceeiskonigin2435 I don't know if you've decided on anything but here's my take. I think the point is to do SOMETHING. You don't have to reshape your diet with extreme measures. Pick a thing that's simple and build on it slowly. Don't jump into anything if you're not sure about it! As for diet advice, you should think of it as trying to reshape what you want to eat, rather than focusing too heavily on what your daily consumption is. Do you understand what I mean? You have to want to do this, from a mental and physiological perspective. Exercising isn't the end-all for losing weight but it does other things other than burning calories. I think exercising is great because of the mental benefits it provides, not just physical. Exercising, in my case, also helps me define clear times of when I am eating food.

No matter what anyone says, the number 1 most important thing for weight poss or gain is diet. You can lose 50 pounds without even touching a treadmill. To lose 1 pound a week, eat 500 less calories than normal every single day, or 3500 (500/day x 7 days) less calories per week. This can much more easily be done by tracking calories in a journal. Write down everything you eat or drink in the day and the amount of calories, then add them up to see what your daily intake is. Then, just start aiming for 500 less calories per day. To be even more precise, you can use an online calorie calculator to see how many calories you need to lose weight based on your body. It can be especially hard for heavier people to begin to try and lose weight, as there is often an assumption that exercise is necessary, but it’s so much harder to exercise with all of the extra weight on you. I’d say try to lose as much as you can through diet, and then get into exercising once it’s more manageable. At one point, I had the opposite problem as you but used a similar solution. I was very underweight and had trouble gaining. I wrote down all my calories I’d get per day and found an average, and added to it.

While Glocks are not the ideal weapon for suppressive fire because you only get a magazine and then your hands are full with the shield and the other hand. It would be a good idea to have extended magazines stored on the safe side of the shield so the shield guy with one hand could drop mag and slide on and extended mag and continue to lay down suppressive fire.

2002 Afghan Combat vet, 5+ years law enforcement and 3 years security contracting in Kuwait/Iraq. I love your new show and take on things. Keep it up! I 110% agree about the shields. In fact this is the first time I've seen them used in such a way. Can you tell me is this a standard or even normal procedure in this type of situation? I see the use and purpose in close quarter situations like room clearing (house to house like in combat or indoor drug busts), but outdoors in such wide open spaces? I assume their thought process was possible vehicle explosion? I think as you mentioned they would have worked tactically better without the shields going car to car etc. for protection or just using the already there surroundings. They all obviously need a LOT more stress training. Though it can never prepare you for the real thing, it can provide more clear and calm reactions. The female leader also needs at the very least a stern talking to. She should be calmly helping to de-escalate the situation instead of making it 100x worse by screaming and barking out textbook procedures. With that said, no doubt she's got the courage for leadership. She just needs to calm down and hit the gym to lead by example. Anyway, this video could be easily tackled on what was done incredibly wrong for a week. Lol. I just wanted to see if you've seen these shields being used more in the type of situations? Are they becoming a lot more used in many situations they didn't use to be? Are the shields like 500x better from weapon impacts and explosions than they were like 10 years ago?

Marshal's fugitive task force is usually a cluster of folks from local agencies assembled into one team. Obviously this crew hasn't trained together and there's confusion of tactics and chain of command. Horrible.

Training standards across the board for Law Enforcement is not good. Most City Councils , County Councils , Law Enforcement Administrations pretend to care about " training " but all they care about is looking good to woke public types. If more agencies trained with Elite Warriors like Mike Glover , they would learn what true leadership is , how to handle the most extreme situations and how to win ! I have learned more from Mike Glover and Field Craft Instructors in days of training vs years in law enforcement . Dear public , please push your local sheriff's , police chiefs ect to raise the game on training .

It's easy to pick on Chicago but you need to remember that police and military are only as good (or bad) as the politically appointed (or elected) civilians that command them. Unfortunately most police departments promote using the good 'ole boy network vs historically documented records of good decision making, leadership skills and tactical abilities.

No, most police departments don’t use “good’ole boy networks, they use no networks at all. Also, what is a good’ole boy network in the context of a metropolitan police department? Do you know what the “good’ole boy” phrase means?

@@jonhelguson I have a friend that was a cop for three years in a City government heavy populated with Mormons. Being non Mormon It took him 3 years to figure out he would never be anything but a patrol officer. He went to another Arizona city and was promoted to Sgt. within 2 years.

It IS easy to pick on Chicago, because it’s been so poorly managed and have not only not out a dent in the violence, but have watched it soar in recent years. Place SUCKS.

Our department policy in the Chicago Police Department is very restrictive, so just because a person says something doesn’t authorize us to shoot. COPA who investigates us after a shooting treats us like we’re the criminals & we have to justify everything we do

It must suck to have to wear hard plates as a beat cop all day but I've seen more departments issuing it specifically because criminals are using more rifles these days.

We've utilized the shield mainly for suspects actively shooting inside a building where their exact location is unknown and there is no time to wait to put a proper entry team together. Its for the first couple of Officers to arrive onscene, team up with the shield, and make entry right now. The shield bearer, knowing that their peripheral vision is very limited behind that "porthole", concentrates on maintaining a solid but mobile cover moving from room to room, or maintain position covering a long hallway; while a couple of Officers behind the shield bearer clears the rooms. The #2 man controls the shield bearers speed, direction, and has to keep eyes up at all times, head in a swivel scanning for the threat. Its almost like the shield bearer is the tank and #2 is the tank commander. But all these awesome gear are useless weight; without training on a regular basis with the officers in that same squad or on that same platoon; that most likely will be working at that moment when a critical incident happens. Its not training you attended once and get a certificate for.........its a crucial skill that is perishable or diminishes if its not honed in constantly.
