What do you mean not beholden to Leonard Leo? He doesn't have to be IN HIS POCKET to rule the way Leonard Leo would want him to rule most of the time! This is bigger than Trump! AGH! Yet Merrick Garland is the problem. He's a coward. OK. He PROSECUTED TIMOTHY MCVEIGH! He is the only AG that ever brought charges against a former president (there have been other instances when it probably should have happened. Remember Iran/Contra?) Other Republicans always had the freedom to do the right thing. He didn't give them any freedom. You're telling me the Vice President needed a permission slip not to do something he didn't even have the constitutional authority to do? I am not saying you are one of the people I am about to mention, but I hear people all the time trashing Merrick Garland for being a federal societhy member (he isn't, he just gave a speech there once), and those same people turn around and say that Judge Luttig should be on the supreme court. Yes, I find Judge Luttig thoughtful and eloquent. He is indeed principled. The problem is his principles! (just not in this case) I don't think anyone should be given too much credit for not wanting to torch the constitution. That should not be a high bar. It should be the bare minimum. I think he himself would say it should be the bare minimum lol! I mean, if you listen to his speak, what does he say when the interviewer compliments him for what he's saying? He basically says, "Well, thank you, but what I am saying now is what absolutely anyone on the court should say." And he's right. It's not just modesty--he literally is saying he should not be complimented for the bare minimum lol. I really gotta emphasize this: someone doesn't have to be corrupt to rule in the way Leonard Leo would want him to vote. He could actually agree with him. He just doesn't on this one crucial issue. Look, I know I'm bombastic. I'm sorry. I've just been watching people being unwittingly dragged to the right over decades, and now after so much gaslighting by Trump and the media which normalizes his conduct--gaslighting is ABUSE, they are ABUSING US--we are so desperate for order that we'll take ANYTHING that remotely decent over that nightmare. This is extremely dangerous. That is what I am trying to say. That I want you to understand that there are people out there who aren't corrupt that still would deliver us Leonard Leo's America.
